^ Looks like they weren't joking about banning. :|
Anyhow, I really don't feel a Type-S will be available in the first 2 model years from the info we've got so far. And if they do offer it after that I hope they would have taken advantage of the time to develop something better then a 5 Speed by then besides the 6MT it would be nice to have a 6 speed auto.

Busting some beats...
With the size of the 3rd gen's trunk space, it would be ridiculous to cut the trunk space so much. It seems small in the pictures but I wonder how much it extends inwards.

so far im happy that I got an 08 type-s!! this 4th generation thing will, if ever, take some time to grow on me.
I couldnt stand the new bmw 5 series, but somehow surprisingly I love them now.

WTF is there so much shit in that trunk for?? Arent they supposed to be testing the car, fine tuning the suspension, and making sure its structurally rigid and rattle free ride are accomplished. Why cant they have a trail car for lugging that shit around??

Besides, they're hauling a load in the trunk through what looks like some hot conditions. That's normal driving. And it's not like they've never tested the thing without a load in it. lol.

Tons of negative comments and no one here has seen/driven the car! Why not just rename the thread to "The 2009 Acura TL is total garbage and I'd rather drive a PT Cruiser."

Does the 2009 appear to be much closer in looks to the Accord than the previous-gen model was?
It seems like the window glass and mirrors are very close, if not identical parts (with window chrome accent changing the shape ever so slightly).

Also, based on the flat wheel arches and separate navigation binnacle it looks like the same person or team responsible for the MDX had a huge hand in this car.
But I wish Acura learned from BMW, Mercedes, et al and "combined" the navigation with the instrument binnacle like on the new 7-series (announced on July 4) instead of having two separate things sticking out of the top of the dash...

At the end you will still buy the 09 TL, unless it comes down to it being over priced. For most enthusiasts, its about having the newest model out and modding it to represent yourself. We can't complain about what the engineers did with the 09 TL because the car is currently on the assembly line. Car companies via the engineers only base thier upgrades/changes/mods on demographic sales. So if the 09 TL sales are excellent then expect suttle changes. On the other hand, if the sales put Acura in the hole then expect major changes such as front fascia and rear end. Acura has always sold it self, so we will have to wait and see.

I won't buy a rwd car exactly because of that reason and I don't want a awd because of the sh*tty gas mileage.
yes infiniti/ bmw...etc. offer rwd but those people aren't driving those cars 365 days a year in the snow states..if they are they usually end up in the ditch like I say a G35 this past winter.... also fwd gets better fuel economy compared to rwd because of the powertrain loss.
Again it all is because of practicality.

Practicality doesn't sell cars.
Let's be honest - FWD is cheaper to package, and building cars in Marysville, OH, (Acura TL, Acura RDX, etc.) is cheaper than Japan (G35, Acura RL, etc.).
The 2009 TL will have the features that dealers have asked for with the maximum cost savings (similarities with Honda Accord).
At the end of the day Honda is a car COMPANY. They do things to sell widgets at the cheapest manufacturing cost - and if that doesn't work (i.e. Acura RL) they make changes.
Some changes (2009 Acura front-end) are less successful than others (2009 Acura TSX, although not my personal opinion/preference).

Man that car is ugly. The pointed trunk/bumper is mirroring the hidden grill/front of the car. Seems like they will come up with something that is like the TSX pointed front end. Ugly. Lots of lost trunk space with the small trunk opening. Man, they are going to loose a lot of customers with that design.

the more i look at it the more i know it will grow on ppl. 3G was a great step foward in TL design history; so it'll be hard to beat the original hype.
but regardless of the 3G lovers; in general this car will STILL sell, and sell very well

The 3G TL is the first car I've owned that I liked everything about how it looks, both inside and out. It's flawless.. sublime.
It has class which, unlike in a lot of other cars in its segment, is not presented in an obnoxious or pretentious way through the appliqué of big swaths of chrome or bug-eye headlights/taillights (what many vehicles with projector headlights end up resembling). It's a car for those of us who want to make a statement of taste and refinement without being an attention whore about it.
For these and other reasons, the 3G TL will likely always be in my driveway.. one way or another.. but this 4G thing? Hmm.. let's see how much they've upped the gaudiness and cranked up the attention-whore volume. I'm hoping for not too much, but the very busy rear end is doing wonders to diminish that hope. A good interior, however, could save it.
We should resign ourselves to the near-fact that there's no love quite as strong as the first. If you love the 3G TL as I do, you'll probably never love anything that comes after quite as much.

I completly agree. I'm a car enthusiast and this car comes out as the result? lol
It will take a lot to make me forget the TL or even change my mind

The 4th Gen does not look all that bad, but Honda is not going the direction that I would prefer. When I first saw the 3rd gen I knew I had to have one. I am just not getting the same warm fuzzy that I got with the 3rd gen. I will keep what I have as it is paid for. But will invest in something to use as a daily commuter that gets great MPG (VentureOne) and reserve the TL for a weekend car.
The new look is nice, even with the camo and tape you can get a good idea of what it looks like. I do like the large 5 spoke rims that they have on it and hope that this is what is offered in its selection. As these would be pretty sweet to put on the 3rd gen.
As with most, I am ready to see the car in person too really good idea of looks, size and feel. But we will have to wait!

It's funny, but when I had my 02 TL Type S, I absolutely LOVED that car. After seeing Spy Shots of the 04, I didn't really like it too much, but I wanted a new car; when I traded it in for a 05 TL, I still thought that the 02 was better, and looked better. Now that I have my 05 TL for 3 1/2 years, I just LOVE it. Much better than my 02! I am now looking at the Spy Shots of the 09, and I'm not sure???? I cannot get a feel yet for the smaller Headlights and the Smaller Tail Lights. I guess we are just going to have to wait and see... My Dealer has told me that the new TL will go on sale September 30th. I am sure that we will have seen it before that. Probably within thje next month. Hope it looks better in person.

I don't think its the big bird beek that discourages me but the big gapping hole in the middle of it. If they would put something else there or something. Its something to do with the black cheap honeycomb plastic grille that just screams....CHEAPO. I see the same black honeycomb grille on the new Carolla's and just .
I like the MDX grille. Its big its bold...and it doesn't look cheap. The tsx and RL grilles just look cheap to me. At least if they move the big shield down to the center of the grille it would look 10X better...just my
I hope they do have some kind of grille options on the TL.
That photoshop pic that circulated a couple pages back of the TL w/ body matching grille looked a little better imo.
