We just showed you some spy pics of the 2009 Acura TL yesterday, but when one automotive photog saw the lo-res cellphone pics we ran, he knew he could do better. Our buddy Rich Truesdell of Automotive Traveler sent over a small patch of pics that he shot of the new mid-level Acura in action out in the Mojave. Just as with the new TSX and RL, the '09 TL seems to be adopting the corporate blocky metal triangle look. To paraphrase Fletch, "It's all about blocky metal triangles these days." Besides that signature fascia treatment, however, the rest of the car could easily be mistaken for a G37 sedan. Not bad, mind you, but not very distinctive either and surprising given the aggressively styled nose and tail. We'd say the best view is the rear-3/4 shot showing how the C-pillars continue out past the rear glass at their trailing edge and become the top edge of the rear deck. Pretty nifty. Check out our gallery below and Automotive Traveler to read about their encounter with the new TL.

So no doubt in my mind the new AWD TL will be faster than the AT 08 Type S and maybe the same speed and the MT option
no doubt did I think it will be faster off the line too..but I wonder how it compares in mpg. as well. If they can get the awd to be within 1-2 mpg of the fwd I'd be completely sold.
As for the body style I too like so many others am really starting to like this body style...just wish I could see the front and back unmasked.

Looking at the red one from this angle looks overall like a Lexus GS
also the guy in the solid yellow polo makes the car look small! what is he like 6'4???
I have a feeling the car is gonna be bad ass!!

Happy Holidays!
You can definitely see black tape along the side of the that red car. Is that the 3rd gen character line? Did it carry over to the 4th gen? It would be a plus.

LOOKS like a GS now after i look it more and more...maybe there is some kind of hope of me liking it....JUST MAYBE....
now need to know how the FRONT Grill looks like without all the damn tapes....

Now, I must say that even though this car was not as original and sharp looking as I had expected, and it looks too much like the GS and G35, between the three of them (TL, GS, G35) I probably would still choose the TL. We shall see when see the uncamouflaged car.

First person who buys a TL with SH-AWD better get their a$$ to a 4WD dyno and test for us! A million imaginary rep points for the guy (or gal) who does it.

I was beginning to have doubts, but I think the new TL is going to be stunning (in a good way) when all the camo comes off.

What is the deal with the bright red on the front? Is it just an "alternate" camo scheme or what?
It almost looks photochopped. Rest of the car looks like what you'd expect "Basque Red Pearl" to look like.

I'm liking the front end of the car so far...... based on the pics. Looks like the lines from the 3G are being carried over.

She said: it's GINORMOUS!
from these two pictures, either acura is using two grille designs, or the red has added tape to fool the unsuspecting observers. i bet there's no line carried over from the 3gen on the sides of the car...either way, front and back are fugly as hell esp. the back end. god i hate chris bangle and bmw for what they did to their gen of cars, but acura is just as fucked with the latest trio of cars. ugh.

Yea if they could use some type of lightweight material for it and cylinder deactivation then i thnk the mpg should stay close to the FWD model in terms of mpg. If this think drinks gas anything like the MDX then it wont be that bad in terms of mpg but it wont be that good either

I'm thinking it is the re-design equivalent of the Maxima. Oh, and speaking of the Maxima, do you guys here like the new design?
