I own 2004 TL 5AT and wanna buy new car in next months (this year) but if Acura will give 3,7 SHAWD with only 300 ponies the car loaded with options and auto tranny if DSG will not appear will be too heavy to compete with G37 or other makes f.ex CTS.
Why Honda beeing the largest engine manufacturer and they have no V8 ? The question asked by millions of fans remains unanswered.
I drive Honda from more than 12 years, and if it will appear in 330Hp and will look like new RL I will switch to american muscle and buy Challenger SRT8, Sorry Honda, I do not care for 20+ MPG, not to mention 35MPG. Do not like diesel engines and I4-s my ride has to be fast not fuel efficeint, If I was a taxi driver I would buy diesel or I4

At Club Nighthawk, we kid that Anthracite is the color people get when they can't decide between silver and black.

And now, just a few weeks after Honda/Acura's dealer meeting in New Orleans, information has been leaked about the upcoming 2009 Acura TL.
According to a source who attended the meeting, the 2009 Acura TL lineup will consist of two models: a base front-wheel drive car and an up-level all-wheel drive model. The front-driver will be powered by a 280 horsepower 3.5L V6 whereas the AWD model will receive its motivation from a 3.7L V6 producing 300 horsepower.
Despite boasting 300 horsepower and all-wheel drive, the range-topping model will not sport the Type-S nameplate. In fact, the source says that Acura will not offer a Type-S model, at least not in 2009 guise. It remains unclear if the performance model will eventually join the lineup.
Acura has promised us a new TL by the end of the year so a Los Angeles Auto Show reveal seems likely.

I actually would love to get a TL or RL in Hybrid mode. I can see AWD being very useful for those snowy days in the cold regions. But since now that I live in SoCal, we don't see much rain much less snow. But sitting in traffic trying to get home really sucks. My fillup yesterday was $53.50, once a week, really hurts.

it's me, Alan Rickman.
Soo... Do you think they'll extend the current 3G MY to 2009, and then make the 4G a 2010? Since it sounds like we won't know anything until the end of this year.. or maybe there won't be a 2009 TL at all.. Just a jump to 2010 MY ?

i just checked a certain car makers intranet and found out there will in fact be a AWD TL in 09. seems like the type S is gone again.
this site states that the AWD engine will be the 3.7l MDX engine. crazy.

I saw some pricing info on the 2009 TSX, it's likely to be MSRP of $32K to $33K with the technology upgrade. WTF? It has a $1700+ price hike from previous years.
http://www.leftlanenews.com/acura-tsx.html
The site changed. But let's say it's true. What will the price of the AWD TL be? $45K with Navi?
I know I haven't bought a TL in 4 years, but when I got my car, it was $36K OTD.
Acura's second generation TSX not only gained a few inches here and there, but also $770 to its bottom line for the 2009 model year. That price applies to the base models compared to last year, as the 2009 TSX now costs $29,675 with the $715 shipping charge. The TSX with technology package adds a navigation unit, dual-zone climate control system and upgraded audio system with XM Satellite Radio and stickers for $32,775 including shipping, reflecting a $1,770 price hike. Either model can be had with the standard six-speed manual transmission or a five-speed automatic transmission as a no-cost option and can be found in dealer showrooms starting April 24.

I think for ~$35K, the TL is perfectly priced. But at $45K, the TL is not priced well at all. There are so many other contenders that can fit the bill. We're getting close to the A4 and 3 series prices when compared with the same upgrades. Everyone knows you can get a 3 series for the 30Kish mark. But when you add leather and all that, that quickly becomes $42k (?) More people, and more critics like the BMW than the TL frankly.
If it's at $45K, it's time to look at the Infiniti M35 or the M45 for that matter.

I would spend 40+ for a nice powered V8, that's for sure,
I do not where but I've read that new V6 diesel will be put under the hood too,
Honda is testing new engine designed for Ody and Ridgeline as well as TL and new RL, that's what I heard from my fellowes in Honda Europe, this is specially important for European market where Legend is the flagship and competes with all german makes

All I can say if this is true, is that it had better be one hell of a car. It had better look and drive like nothing else on the road. Like someone else said, $40-45K is M35/M45 Money(even if it is used).

I think that if the FWD TL w/ the technology package is at $37K, then why would anyone buy a TSX? In the overall scheme, it's only $5K more than the TSX. $5K over 5 years, with 0% interest is an extra $83/mo in payments. That doesn't differentiate the market from the TSX and the TL much.
I think it's more likely that it'll be
TL 2009 3.5L FWD base, 280 hp: 36000$
Technology Package: 38000$
TL 2009 3.7 AWD base, 305 hp: 40000$

the TL 4gn base has to be very near to the 3gn in the base price... 34-35.000$ no more.
If it will be a Type-S, we should expect a V8 in 2011, on the way of the CTS-V.

isnt the sticker price on the type s 38,
if you think about it and compare the proposed pricing to the current pricing, the 2009 tl isnt that overly priced, about 6k more bigger engine, awd, and ...... hopefully some good lucks
we should create a pool on a release date of pictures (that show some skin)

Ok so I talked to the Acura General Manager of my dealership today. He has actually seen the 09 TL at a dealer event in New Orleans. They made them give up all cell phones/cameras before the event. The 09 TL is moving towards becoming a Tier 1 luxury car comparable to BMWs. It is going to have a 3.7L V6 and is not going to be sharing engines with any Hondas. It is going to be available with AWD. He said it looks much more luxury and a lot "beefier". Obviously this does not tell us very much, but at least we have a little more info confirmed. The fact that they are trying to go more luxury and not share engines with honda is a good sign for the brand.

I think that the 3G TL was always comparable to the 3 series. But from what you're saying, Tier 1 may mean 5 series? If they're trying to get the TSX to compare to the 3 series on that note, I'm not sure if they have a shot.
Maybe the TSX against the 1 series, and the TL 3 series. a 3.7L V6 only producing 300HP will not be able to beat the smaller lighter 3 series on performance tho. Then there's the G37 too. Guess we'll all have to wait it out until the LA show.

To me, any increase in pricing from 2005 reminds me of the plight of the Mitsubishi 3000GT, Supra, and former Z. These mid-level sports cars got up into the upper echelon pricing and suddenly had huge trouble with with sales, resulting in their discontinuation (at least, that is how I remember it...)

Acura has promised us a new TL by the end of the year so a Los Angeles Auto Show reveal seems likely.
