2009 Acura TL/CL Type-S-Merged Threads-All 2009 topics will be merged here

The TL is going to be smoking HOT , the TSX was an MMC in my eyes and most of the other Acura Fans. The RL is a MMC as well. The only all new Acura was the MDX which is really nice looking compaired to X5 , RX etc. The TL will be all new.... that is the reason you are not seeing any spy photos. I think the last set of so called TL spy photos were of the RL not the TL or TXS.

Dear blah blah,
Automotive manufacturers are constantly changing and improving their products. One tool they use to help in their development is consumer research. Our research company has been commissioned by a major manufacturer to conduct an Automotive Evaluation among a select group of owners such as yourself.
If you still own and drive a 2007 Acura TL, this is an exciting and rare opportunity to see new and future vehicles. This is strictly a market research study where we rely on you to help guide the development of the vehicles of tomorrow.
We are inviting a select group of vehicle owners in the San Mateo area to evaluate newly designed vehicles between March 12th and 19th, 2008.
This study will take approximately 2.5 hours, and you will receive $125 in appreciation for your help.
Absolutely no attempt will be made to sell or promote a product at this event or future event................................blah blah blah..........
The rest of the letter is not important. It's just a bunch of contact info etc etc.
I don't know if I could make it to this "event" due to work though.

Yep, was kind of a stupid question but appreciate the answers.
Wouldn't they be seeking non-Acura owners to try and gather some info on what they would like to see that would attract them to the brand?

Boy, are you in for a few surprises.
Just for giggles, there is some interesting read in other threads such as "how can you afford the TL?", and "what are your occupations?"

Hmmm? Depends if the $125 is grossed up or not.

I'm looking forward to see the photo that you can take for us.
Hopefully Acura wouldn't disappoint me with the TL..otherwise I will go for Audi
My opinion for new TL:
We need more technology like the "cool seat", "push start button" and SH-AWD...etc
We are all excited to see how "aggressive" it will be..do NOT give us a look like Maxiuma/RL
However, do NOT boost up the price over 40k for a fully loaded TL...cuz not many ppl can keep up
If Acura scuessfully achieve these goal...they will rock and roll for at least 2 years

Looks like Infiniti just announced a 306hp G37 sedan with a 7 speed AT transmission for the European market. More than likely, that configuration will end up in North America in 2009. My only real problem with the G was gas mileage, hopefully that 7 speed AT transmission helps that.
My point..........The pressure is on Acura right now, they better come through with something AWESOME. If that 7 speed AT tranny goes in that G, I'm jumping ship. I'm disgusted with the looks of new RL and the new TSX aint getting me hard either. Sorry Acura.

Go Big Blue!
Ironic thing is that gas will probably be $4 a gallon this summer and who knows where it will go from there. What's with this HP trend lately? I wonder if all this will really come about

I guess it's possible if they do a complete corporate 180 in philosopy but highly unlikely. Honda loves their CAFE rating and genuinely seems focused on being the most fuel efficient car manufacturer in the world. Thus the constant tug of war with the car enthusiast crowd.

If the new TL is going on sale this year they sure are keeping it a secret. The new grill look on the tsx and rl = epic fail. Please let the TL not have that butt ugly grill!

new colors
With the 07' they came out with some really neat colors like the Kinetic Blue and the Carbon Bronze. Sometimes a really kick b*tt color helps sell the car better. I would like to see really dark grey like "midnight grey".
About the turning diameter, I never actually looked up the specs to compare the two but I had the 03Type S and now I have the 07Type S and let me tell you, although there is obvious room for improvement, there was nothing worse than not being able to make a complete U-Turn with on coming traffic in the 03. That car was pathetic.

I wish the new TL was offered in AWD and RWD with a choice of manual or auto.
The way I look at it is they better offer at least 300hp, a manual, and if RWD isn't offered the AWD better not be a fat pig. 0-60 in 5.5 or less or Good bye Acura.

The next TL is probably going to be a mostly cosmetic redesign or I expect we'll see something pretty drastically different from previous TL's. Should be very interesting.

How does a gigantic corporation like Honda manage to keep the TL out of the public eye so well? I am having a hard time believing that they can keep all but the heavily camouflaged new TL's so well hidden.

But on the RL, Acura took the new grill design, enlarged the thing to make it look more "grand" and stuck it on car that was never designed for something that large.
In all fairness it seems that Acura tried to change the front clip to accept the larger, "bolder" grill but failed as the rest of the car does not go with the new front look.
The poor RL needs to be sorted out. Perhaps if the 3.7 had more then 300hp then maybe the horrible look could be ignored to a degree but alas I think the RL will continue on a downward slide.
As for the new TL, well once again the look (IMO) will be a take on the Sports 4 in which said grill looked fine.

They need to get rid of the TSX and bring back a coupe (RSX) that will rival the G37.
I don't understand what they are doing with the RL, they see that sales are horrible, but they don't create a vehicle that will stand up to the LS or even the M.
They are still going with the "shield" look, but it's a "love it" or "hate it" concept
I'm hoping they are saving all their resources for the TL since that is their "bread winner"
