nah i have to go to home depot after work today and pick up some high temp silcone glue. the glue goes on your OEM rear calipers and this just sticks right on.

haha they're not bigger than the fronts, a tad smaller.

i'll let you know how it goes this weekend, i'm heading to kings dominion on saturday so i won't be able to do this until sunday.

don't let the cameo go to brady's head...maybe that was why he was such a drama queen!

alright over the weekend i did the rear brembo brake caliper covers.

they arrived in a CF finish, so i grabbed my supplies and got to work.

sand paper, scotchbrite pads, marine grade adhesive/sealant, CF brembo decals cut to size.

started sanding away...was surprised to see the finish was blue on one cover and white on another.

after they were sanded down, i hung them from the brembo tree and laid down the first ground coat of lexus starphire pearl.

finished up the top coat of pearl and let them dry, then took them inside to put the CF decals on. i cut out each individual letter, bc the brembo section on the covers was "raised" and not flat.

put on 2 coats of clear spray.

jacked it up.

ugly rear calipers.

now here is where it got tricky. these are def not one size fits all covers. there was very little contact point between the cover and the caliper so i had a hell of a time getting this to stay glued in place. marine grade sealant didn't do shit...then i tried JB weld...didn't do shit. then i just about gave up on the project, until i found a tube of emblem adhesive. third time was the charm because it stuck on perfectly. no movement at all. hell, maybe it was a combination of all 3 products! i dunno

used some tape to temporarily hold for an hour or so just to be on the safe side.

now the fronts and rears match!

Okay, it doesn't look that bad...quite nice actually. I would definitely get a chrome paint sharpie and go over the rivets and the "lines" though.

that's a good idea. it'll help give it more depth and realism.

thanks man. actually i haven't cleaned my front calipers since i painted them and they are still clean as can be. these brake pads don't create a lot of dust, thankfully.

Not bad. I wouldve painted the brake line thing and the bleeder valve copper though, just for a little bit more realism.

Also, you have them on the wrong side

WOW, they came out AWESOME, man, AWESOME!
I agree with John with adding some chrome back into it. I think I'd think about doing this if I could find some that are a LITTLE smaller, even if I had to grind it down.
I would even think about grinding the brembo letters flat, to make it easier to apply.

My other question is, can you still access all the bolts/nuts to do pad swaps?!?
And actually, I am on the brakemotive pads now...once I saw that I wasn't going to be able to sell them for much, I figured I might as well rock em!

Aaron, amazing job.

for the rears everyone has to remove the caliper.....so he will have to pop off the cover and then access all the bolts (am guessing here)....

Hmmm...but the nuts are on the back, so I'm thinking you glue this to the slide part of the caliper and might not have to remove it.

hey thanks, J.

i wouldn't go any smaller than these if it were me. but these are in fact smaller than the front real brembos...so it looks nice. yes i can still access the nuts/bolts to swap pads. this is mounted on the slide bar in front.

yes sir. it's kind'of a double edged sword tho. it's good for pad changes but bad for install purposes. i really wish the backside of the covers was shaped differently so that there was more contact point with the caliper itself. i don't think these will fall off or anything, they're glued on something fierce...but i would prefer them to be more secure. maybe i'll figure something out i dunno
