Even if he did dyno in 3rd, how much do you think he actually would've got? 100whp more? 20-30 between gears? then based on that theory he should have 213whp...no possible way. Spoolinspoon and I have both dyno'd at this same shop.

I pulled 258whp and 218.3wtq in 5th gear because I was topped out in 4th. (I'm a manual) Regardless they dialed it in on their dyno, I made more power in 5th gear from 3 pulls than in 4th gear. This particular dyno also reads 15% lower than the standard dynojet.

You needs the tunes bro! You should've raped my numbers with all your mods but then again there were so many variables.

I would have loved to see what it ran with the stock ECU first. LOL @ provided basemap. That should only get you to the tuner to tune it but since you already have a stock ecu, you could just plug the JnR as soon as you got to the dyno and have it tuned since it is PnP.

I don't think the ecu needs a "break-in".

Don't get down on yourself man. It should all work out. I tell you what, the next time you dyno let me know. I'll pay the $50 that you loss on PTuning's dyno for the next session of your choice.

^^^ JC i was telling him the same....

his numbers should have been +100 (as in from 186/156 to 286/256)....also when he saw the numbers sooo low and the guys were blaming it on the ECU, i would have said, lets do another run without the ECU just to confirm the same....

difference between the AT 3rd and 4th would be like 20-30HP....yes, almost that much....you can see (Aaron will attest) 3rd on the AT has a lot of power in lower rpm+mid range+higher rpm but the 4th doesnt....the 4th is only good for upper rpms....

either way, Aaron....see a shop in the neighborhood that dynos and get 4 runs, 2 with ECU and 2 without....this will help you see where the fault lies and you can go from there (either get it tuned or leave it as is)

I'm going to come from left field here and say I figured out why the numbers are all wrong...

Remove 20 WHP for dynoing with headlight LEDs on.
Remove another 80 WHP because of rear caliper covers.

Everyone agree?

listen to him. remember you have an OTS tune, those are always pretty crappy and leave shitloads to be desired.

and, if your car was pulling timing, that's gonna kill allllll the power made from your upgrades. without good timing an engine is pretty worthless.

you'll get it sorted and it will be worth it. the ECU itself is a good buy, but the OTS tune is shitty.

You need that AFR gauge hooked up.

The dyno was pulling the AFRs from a sniffer at the rear of the car. As I said yesterday, thats typically about 1 point off of what the car is really running at. So that 12.9:1 was really more like an 11.9:1 (not surprising since its the J&R supplied map).

And just to clear up something that was said on the last page:

There is no golden rule to dynoing a car in 4th for a manual or 3rd for an auto. You are supposed to run the car in the gear that is closest to 1:1 for the most accurate numbers. Yes, the auto TL should be run in 3rd since that ratio is 1.071:1, but the 6MT should be in 5th since it is .97:1 compared to 4ths 1.25:1.

As Jake said, that dyno (a Dyno Dynamics AWD dyno), reads about 15% below a DJ.

If I were you, Id call them back up and say that it was supposed to be run in 3rd, not 4th. Ask if they could run it again, and then we can actually discuss if there is something wrong with the vehicle (particularly the J&R piggyback).

Aaron, have you had any haters on your caliper covers yet? I am wanting to do those to match my newly painted front calipers. You inspired me on painting mine. I did mine with the G2 white caliper kit and black brembo stickers.

thanks for the encouragment man. appreciate it. i've gotten over the "dyno experience" and i know next time, it'll be run right. what happened happened and all i can do is make sure it goes smooth NEXT time.

i'm still trying to find a local shop who can do this work for me (weld in AFR/dyno/possible tune)...although i think i may just auto tune with my friend after i get the AFR welded on.

thanks, J. and yes...i was pissed. i think anyone with me that day can attest to that. i left immediately afterwards.

thanks Mr. Bell ...i like the vids too. i've never dyno'd before so it was cool watching my car up there.

11.9 afr and no advance would be the culprit of low power aaron, but don't worry, like I said OTS (off the shelf) tunes are always made that way

i would first make sure that those 2004 wheels can even accept TPMS. i know that 06-08 wheels can...but i'm not positive about 04-05. you might need to use some sort of adapter or something since the wheels arent supposed to have TPMS on them.

glad the speakers work man!

about the TPMS, i would make a thread in the suspension section and maybe you'll get your answer that way.
