Pre-Amp

Red & Blue (+) / White & Green (-)

Post-Amp

Yellow & Black (+) / Lt. Green & Red (-)

I thought your amp had a "speaker level plugs" on those amps, but they don't. You'll just need to put some RCA's on the ends of the speaker wire. If you can solder then it will go quickly. Home Depot and Radioshack both carry RCA tips that you can take apart and solder the wire to. Very easy and likely the cheapest way. I would have shipped mine to you (I have 1 pair), but you'll need 4 tips total (2 for 4 channel and 2 for sub amp).

Unless....wait....what are you using the 25' RCA for that I sent you?? Are you using that to tap the pre-amp signal for the 300/4?

I forgot to tell you that you can use your line driver before your take the signal into the JL amp(s). That will be helpful. (edit....nvm...maybe not lol) I'm trying to figure our how you could hook it up right now. You have a few options. You can go active (meaning that you can ditch the Massive crossovers and use the built in crossovers in the JL 300/4) or you can just use the Massive Crossovers. I HATED the crossovers from Massive, but they fixed it a little bit when they put the 2nd version of the RK6's and CK6's. If you have the 1st version, the tweeter will be very loud compared to the midbass.

It will be easier to just use the crossovers, but you'll be able to get better sound and you'll get flexibility by using the amps crossovers.

thanks again. i got the new set of massive's...where they apparently fixed that tweeter issue.

i'll go over all of this with dave (my install partner) and see what he wants to do. obviously, i want the best sound possible...who doesnt?

i'll let you know sometime tomorrow afternoon which direction we go in. remember, i have a 300/2...not 300/4.

thanks for all your help!

couple of updates.

finally got my audio setup installed and complete. consists of massive CK6 front components/tweeters, JL 300/2 amp, JL 12w6 sub, JL 500/1 amp. everything sounds FANTASTIC, but i still need to tweak the settings on the amps to fine tune everything. thanks to dave (dwb993) for all his help! couldn't have done it without him.

also fixed my illuminated door sills, turned out to be a bad ground. oh and picked up some piaa super silicone carbon fiber wiper blades from turtlecivic...they are badass!

and finally, went to firestone for my lifetime alignment and ran into a honda/acura guy who actually knows a couple local people in the area on acurazine. he worked on my car and we set the rear camber to -3.5 and toe to ZERO. then we set the front camber to -4 and toe to ZERO. i can now pull into any parking lot entrance, driveway, etc without the fear of rubbing/slicing my tires on the steep inclines. i may even add a little 5mm spacer up front for a little bit extra herra flush. car drives straight, handling seems just fine with the added camber introduced. i can't forsee anything except a little inner tire wear, in which case...i'll flip the tires anyway. i'll get some full pics soon...need a phototshoot bad.

hope everyone had a good easter weekend!

That's the negative camber you see, which does not cause a lot of tire wear, despite popular belief. It's the tow setting you have to watch for, and since he's at zero, the tire wear should be fairly even.

Aaron, drive up here this weekend and we'll do a photoshoot. Car looks great. Post some pics of the front camber...I want to see how it looks.

WTF dude...how I wish I were close to wherever you get your alignment adjustments. I get camber kits and when they are done aligning I always get the "you should really get a camber kit so you can get within specs"!?!? REALLY YOU EFFIN A HOLES...didn't I tell you when I handed you the keys that I have camber kits!?! So I've had to eyeball and get the camber pretty straight myself and THEN have them adjust toe etc.

Looking good, man...
I totally agree, TOE is the killer, not Camber but with -4 you will see some decent wear. Like you said though, if you're flipping anyway, you should be good.

Car looks good...are your tips painted, or just dirty?!! Looks like it's time for barkeepers friend!

Other than that, I have Massives up front too, they can handle a LOT of friggin juice, man...and I have had no issues with the tweeters either. I have massive components up front and image dynamics in the rear...perfect match up!

that sucks man...yeah i always make sure they have a tech there ahead of time that knows what they hell he's doing (and preferrably likes hondas/acuras)...i lucked out this time with the tech i got. i just hung out with him while he was working on my car the whole time...i got his number and will be going to him in the future for anything i need done there. he's a acura/honda fanboy so it worked out well.

my tips are FILTHY thanks to the precat deletes and other exhaust mods. i'll be giving her a full detail next weekend before the upcoming car meets. BKF is sitting on the shelf, ready to be used.

yeah i love the massives...it's amazing how much better they are than OEM. on volume 10 it's already loud enough for me...i really need to get back there and focus on the amp settings since i went post-amp hookup.

How good/bad will those components sound if they're powered by the stock amp?

probably like shit. i have 150 going to each speaker from the jl 300/2 and they still sound like they could take more power...they are hungry components for sure. i forget what they are rated at...maybe 150-175ish?

Lol went post amp huh?! Dammit Aaron!

Just get back there and turn the "Filter Mode" to OFF. It will just let the entire signal it receives pass through. Your Massive Audio crossover will handle the rest.

A-zine audio section is pretty legit....not gonna lie. Beware though, your wallet will hate you

It won't be as loud for starters. Most factory setups use VERY efficient drivers that can create volume (SPL) on as little power as possible. Essentially a good idea, but the speakers usually blow in their materials, build quality, etc. Most budget systems that use the passive crossovers will eat up some power too. With these new small format amps nowadays, you can pick up a 5-channel to run some fronts and a sub that will easily fit under your seat or wherever you want to hide it. You'd never know it was there. The Kenwood XR-5s is a very nice little amp for cheap! Anyways...just rambling.

Stock amp pushes about 50-60 to each side if I remember correctly and about 90-100 to the sub. It's pretty dirty, noisy power though.

Aaron, did you run all new speaker wire from your JL amp to the Massives, or are you using the stock wire?

i know i know...but we already had it all wired up that way and we really didn't know what the hell we were doing. i'll try the filter setting you mentioned and see what happens.

Love the pics. The camber doesn't look as aggressive in these shots as the original one you posted. Could be the fishiness of the GoPro lens playing tricks on my eyes though...

great update Aaron....and great pix....

Toe is a real killer but camber does cast its effect....-4 and -3.5 is a lot....adding a ton to the stance but well....I am thinking of going -2 and -1.5 on the camber....ZERO on the toe....

waiting to hear more about how it drives with that neg camber...

as some of you know, i put my OEM wheels up on the black market. they were painted gold...which most people did not like. so in order to sell them, i offered to paint them any color the buyer wanted.

i ended up selling them locally and will be dropping them off to the new owner tonight. he wanted them gunmetal...so i painted them last night.

original gold color

sanded with 320 grit and followed up with red scotchbrite pads and taped the tires.

added 2 coats of light gray primer spray

added 3 coats of gunmetal duplicolor gloss spray

added 2 coats of clear spray

hope he likes them!

Very nicely done, sir!

I did not like the gold one bit, this is so much nicer!

I wasn't being sarcastic, with camber, you can feel the car feel so much more planted on curves.

thanks, J. yeah they came out real well...i almost don't wanna sell them now TBH

car does handle like a dream...i love not having the fear of messing up my tires on potholes/dips.

thanks, john!

i actually moved into my new place last month, and got a new job about a mile from home. so the TL stays parked all week and i either walk or bike to work. figured i don't need these winter wheels any more and could use the extra cash for other mods that i DO need like AFR gauge, tune/dyno time, knock sensor, etc.

Wheels look great in that color! You should've done that to them when you had them on your car

Nice!! Stance is looking good there Aaron. I just ordered my tires today an I'm gonna get the fenders rolled hopefully this weekend. And possibly everything mounted too. We'll see how it works out. But your car has come along way.
