Jeremy, you might try Groit's Garage Car Wash in a bottle. I was using ONR, which is fine, but the Griot's is faster, simpler and gives a better shine, in my opinion.

^ Interesting product...I'd never heard of it. How is it different from any common spray detailer?

They've got a Speed Shine too, for in between waxes. My paint has never been so smooth!

I like their products a lot. And I've tried a lot of stuff....Zaino, Megs, etc.

Thanks a bunch Steven, and guess what...Walmart started carrying their products lately. I noticed a BUNCH on the shelf yesterday when I stopped by.

I won the ONR, normally, I can wash with foam and water and all I want, and with NBP...it's pretty risky, I'll give it a whirl, but doubt it'll replace my normal method of washing the car with 2 buckets etc.

Interesting. I have to run by Walmart later, so I'll have to see what kind of detailing goodies they have. Thanks for the tip!

Funny guy! I'll take your automotive tips. Keep all your other tips away from me.

I just went by our Wally World...saw lots of Zymol, but no Griot's.

Guys, I have tried so many different tire shines. I like the tires to look like the car just rolled off the lot. The Griot's Tire Shine seems to work extremely well and lasts a long time. I've not experienced any spray off from the tires either.

Steven, I've tried Zaino and a few others...I get the black magic titanium gel...lasts a long time and is VERY glossy. But I like to dry a bunch of different types and will give the griots a shot next go.

So my car got named..."Dahlia", courtesy my fiancee. Has a nice dark ring to it.
Anyway...a NON Dahlia update.
Restored my boss' (and close friend) headlights with crystal view...let's see how it holds up.

and also used my Barkeeper's friend that I got for my birthday on my HIS boss' car...04 MDX with 180k miles on it...he's going to crystal view this weekend...his exhaust tips have been bugging me for a year.
NICE clean up...

LOL...
my boss, I've known him for 10 years and we're pretty close. Best boss I've ever worked for...and I know he appreciates it. I'm not married to him, but I'm the Godfather of his twins!

HIS boss...who is my manager...is a nice guy, we all get along really well and figured he'd appreciate it very much and only took me 20 min to do.

The headlight, yeah, should have...it wasn't TOO bad, but pretty bad.

^^^ i like wonder under cool bosses.....who let you do your work....

i like browsing at work ONLY IF am done with all my work....one of my boss was like
"dude u browsing all the time"
me: well am done with my work
him: find something new to work on
me: tell me if you have something in your bucket
him: nope you finished it all, but dont browse

other bosses i worked for we so cool.....i did more work than anybody else on the team....but in half the time and ended browsing in that time....it was a pleasant email my "crappy" boss send me the other day....

it basically said, after you left, we hired 3 resources.....2 here and 1 in India and still not able to close the issues which you used to do it by yourself....

so if you have a cool boss you just gotta appreciate em.....which am glad your doing Jer....

Dude...I couldn't agree more.
My previous one...he was also a close friend for a long time. Worked for him for previous 3 years...TOTALLY different management style...
hypocrit...micromanager...ended up affecting our friendship. In the end, I bent over backward for the guy on a work level and personal level and when it came down to it, he didn't do the same for me to fight to get me the pay increase I deserved. I jumped ship to work for this other dude...and he is the opposite, laid back, feels like a team, you work hard because you don't want to let him down instead of because you don't want to get yelled at (which you will anyway since nothing is ever good enough).

I swear, I used to feel like I was dealign with my Dad...
if he was in a good mood, your day was smooth, but if not. And he spent all day dealing with his kids' soccer, but if he walked by and you were AZ...forget it...he'd make comments and then just assume you weren't working all day.

I worship the ground my new boss walks on.

DUDE.

I bought that (still have more than 3/4 in the bottle) and I stopped using it.

That stuff caked my tires and made them SO brown and dirty from collecting dust.
No joke, the build-up of gel was like half a centimeter.

Do you wash and clean your tires every time you wash your car?
I must be doing something wrong, but It took me a very long time to remove the layers of gel off my tires.
Everytime I washed my car, my tires would repel the water because of all the gel that was on it.

I stored my A-Specs for the winter, and put them on a week ago and they still had the gel on them.
I cleaned it off with a brush and tire cleaner though.

Now I use Meguiars Hot Shine and damn I love the slick non-gel look.

I agree, I do love the OTHER options too...but the gel seems to be more resistant (maybe TOO resistant, huh?!?) and also glossier for longer.

Remember for me I have black on black on black on black on black on black etc...so the only way to accentuate and delineate where the rims start and tires end is by having them look nice and glossy.

Anyway, yes sir...i have a long handled rim brush...I clean the TIRES every single time I clean the wheels...I start with 1 pass along the tires...then do the face of the rim with the brush, then the detial with a little foam wand thingy.

Does your brush get dirty and fling the gel off as you make the pass?
I think I had to throw out my brush after cleaning my tires because the gel just made all the bristles black and you know tire gel, that stuff won't come off easy.

Or maybe I just caked the gel on in the first place.
I just used the foam applicator they had though.

https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-tl-1999-2003-98/diy-thermoblok-spacers-install-egr-cleaning-615644/

it came in very helpful when i was doing it....also if you want to clean (appearance wise) I would suggest the P21S Total Auto Wash
http://www.detailedimage.com/P21S-M1...000-ml-Kit-S1/

this is how i clean my engine bay:
use a hose and lightly spray under the hook and in the engine bay
spray P21S and use a soft brush
use Chemical Guys Back to Black on the hoses and plastic pieces....

GP, this is what I was suggesting for the tires:

Thanks so much man!

So it's similar to the 2G?

I just for the hell of it took off the cover that says "VTEC" on it (10 bolts?).
I don't know what I was looking at, but it was kinda orange and purple.

Then I put it back in fear something would go wrong LOL

just remember when you put it back TORQUE SPECS is your everything....if you break a bolt with either the manifold or the manifold cover, its gonna be a bad experience

No sir, I just winged it...but you do take off the VTEC cover to get at the bolts that hold down the intake manifold. Then jiggle jiggle jiggle and up it comes...but don't do this for fun, you might as well throw in the thermal spacer if you're going to go on the mission.

For the engine, honestly...I just spray degreaser on everything, especially plastic bottles and labels and then hit it all with high pressure hose...then use a leaf blower to dry off and aerospace303 all the engine covers and hoses.

I'm not doing it for fun, I'm doing it just to have a clean engine lol
Mine is probably all gunked up with carbon.

Does the intake manifold have any electronics in it?

Okay.

So all the intake manifold is is a big hunk of metal?

I can see how rockstar winged it...
Just look at the hoses and bolts connected to the manifold and remove? LOL

This IS a stupid question.
Minivans and SUVs out there seem to accelerate faster than I do.
They seem to shift at 2k RPM (barely pushign down the pedal) while my TL shifts at 3k RPM (pushing down the pedal far!) just to catch up.

LOL fully stock.

But weird, shouldn't my TL go faster since it's in the higher RPM range, yet the car right beside me would be able to beat me just by staying in the low RPM range.
I'm talking about from stop. Like at a stoplight.

^^^ Well as Inaccurate would say:

weight and heat kills TL performance....and i agree....

couple FREE mods will be:
1> ultimate cooling mod
2> coolant bypass
3> some weight loss mods....

the TL does feel sluggish, at lower rpms.....not any more

^^^ also remember the SUV/Minivans have a lot more low end torque which the TL lacks....TL has some awesome higher mid range and upper rpm power....

your TL is fine, will PM couple couple mod links....mods are FREE so it wont hurt anything
