Damn you and your responsibility, J.

Why not a project? Both the M3 and a 400awhp S4 are already "done" per se. Like your TL, there really isn't more "up" to go to.

What about a Fox Body 5.0? You can get them for dirt cheap and they have plenty of aftermarket, which means you can built it exactly how you want it. In FL you don't have to worry about sanding/grinding/replacing rust on an old car. Plus, they sound like God's own pitbull.

We're spending your money goddammit!

Although, mini-rant...dropped off the MINI at the local BMW/MINI dealership to swap out tires for the winter.

And man, it's just hilarious the snob/douche-factor of the clientele at the place. You'd think these customers were driving a gift from Gawd himself. The superiority complex is probably on par with the exclusive-only-Apple-products people. C'mon man...it's a 3-SERIES. If one's self-worth is enhanced by the badge on the car...I think medical help should be required.

Kinda makes me think a bit more about my tentative plan to get a 5er eventually.

Still have mine after 20+ years with only 70K original miles. She hangs out in my garage most of the time. Next step is heads, throttle body, and Kenne Belle SC. However that has been the plan for a good 10years or more. Haven't done much to her in the last 10. Keep finding other things to take my money as I never run anything stock (ski boat, camper, RZR, Duramax, and most recently the DD TL). These damn forums have been hard on my wallet to say the least. I keep having to remind myself that I can't have all the mods other members do when they might only have one vehicle to pump all their cash into. I like to try tho

I wouldn't supercharge it. With the weather conditions on Florida, your going to hate amount of heat under the hood. Don't get me wrong, it's fun a fuck to be boosted.. But even after all the money spent, I don't feel it was worth it.. Other than bragging rights.

wow, I really have a different opinion than so many people on here. I like power as much as the next guy but I don't like it enough to buy some 12+ yr old mustang. I like power in a car as sexy as my TL, not in some old American car (no offense to anyone). Sexy + power = many euro cars out there..... but who's gonna take the liability of some older euro or who can afford a later model M3 or RS4? So hence I spent some money putting power and whyne in my TL. Is it incredibly powerful?...no. Is it fun and sexy?....hell yes. I personally don't street race anyone.....i enjoy the power for me (passing, merging, and such). For me its sexy, powerful, affordable....and must important it's fun. Opens up a whole new world of mods, as a DIYer this is invaluable.

If none of this makes sense then buy a used NSX and you'll still be a winner in my book.

Different strokes. I appreciate both, IMO the TL is/can be a very sexy car, but can never be as dramatic as a Fox done properly.

Well, I honestly agree with MAS too. If the cost, ALL IN was $2K or less...I'd be much more inclined. The fact that his has been installed for 3 months and already he's looking to get better tune and go with a higher psi pulley tells me the fun wears off quickly and you immediately go into a whirlwind searching for more power. It's addictive and in the end, as Rich mentioned, you end up spending a pretty penny. I'm sure the car is a blast to drive and you love it...but my practical side will not make this a priority over finding a place to live, getting married, having kids.

In my opinion, a 2nd car that is more fun and less practical is a totally different ballgame and in my mind would be worth the additional cost "TO ME" more so than making me daily driver faster.

For $10k and reasonable miles, I'd probably take the M3 too.

E46 M3's are my fave....besides the god's chariot, the E30 M3.

If you're going to get a house soon then i would suggest you scrap the whole idea all together.

You're a pretty accomplished DIY guy and when you get a house there are going to be sooooo many cool projects you will want to get into. Trips to Home Depot and such will be very plentiful. After a while you will get sick of having to wait for your buddy who has a truck to help you bring home some project materials or the new sofa or table you wife just got. You will be needed a truck.

You will start out by saying i'm gonna get a little POS truck because i only need it for errands but as you search you will want a better truck because you are already used to a quality car. Once you buy a better truck you will be soo glad you spent extra money rather than buying the POS truck because you and your wife will use it every weekend to go out and run errands. You may also may to do a mod or two to the truck because its in your blood already (no escaping it). Over time you may even use the truck for more than just errands because its soo much more comfortable than a slammed car. And when you do use the truck it makes you miss the sporty car. And when you use the sporty car it makes you miss the comfortable truck. Best of both worlds.

Thats my premonition. Ask me how i know this. Haha

Thanks, y'all are my buds. I appreciate it!

Well, that was a little preemptive on my part...the house was a little bit of a bait and switch. We knew when we saw it that the house was likely $500 too cheap per month and also $500 OVER our budget per month at the REAL cost. We were the favorite but in the end, we'd have been moving in 2 months earlier to accommodate, AND having to cut the grass and maintain the pool ourselves. For someone with a diverse background...it would have been a bit of a change to live in a city where I've heard the clan still meet (), maybe that's changed. In the end, it was just more than we need and over budget so back to reality...

Plus, the search is part of the fun!

I'm glad you guys didn't take offense, I tried to word it so that I wouldn't step on the toes of the guys that ARE blown (). MAS, how about maybe a Honda Ridgeline? I know it, man...not my first time at the rodeo and I know you'd be right. ONLY reason I might hold off is that after the debacle of getting OUT of my house now, I want to rent so I shouldn't have to have too many major projects wherever I move.

We shall see...

What areas are you guys looking into? I remember you mentioning you wanted at least a two car garage... possible townhouse perhaps? Ever considered my side of town?

Jeremy usually search is the best part....

at times part of you will be YOLO and at times part of you will be "lets be practical"....its fun to balance those parts out

I had made a spreadsheet with all our current expenses and an 50% blown up estimated expenses...so utilities and electricity and water and most importantly, SAVINGS....then with the money that is left over, we decided how much the house has to be to fall into that....that helped us shortlist....

Then with the shortlisted house, I made another spreadsheet with whats around it....so I didnt want anything (walmart and gas stations etc) in a 2-3 mile radius but I wanted everything in a 5-6 mile radius....

We did not get a chance to do this but I highly recommend doing is, see the demographics of the community....you want people to be kinda the same age etc...you dont want to be stuck between all 60yr old peeps....

just my 2cents ....let me know if you would like any of the spreadsheets I made

Ok.....i'm starting to understand and i have your solution.

No second car.
No truck.
No SUV.
No house.
No more mods on TL.

Save all the money you can because when you become married with children you will be broke.

Plus when we get old there will be no social security and these daily essentials are going to be crazy expensive......so you're gonna need every penny you have.

M3!!! One of the best cars i owned... i had an 04 convt. Miss that car.

I had a AP2 s2000 grew out of it quick only had it about 4 months and sold it.

I would take the M3 over the s2000 anytime.

^^^Great to know, man.
J.

MAS...

Rich, not sure, man...anywhere near the highway to make it easier to get to Sunrise for me, and Ft Lauderdale for the wife.

Anil, thanks for the offer, man. Not a bad idea.

I agree with him about the Fox body. I'd much rather put money into the TL then a Fox body. But we all have those cars that have a special place so it's understandable if some would.

I'm not "looking" for a second car, Austin...

It's kinda like when you're beating off and you're like, mannnn, I sure do wish I had a gf right now...but then realize it's not that simple. They're just pipe dreams, man...maybe one day, if the right deal comes along...then again, I consider getting a truck for hauling, or a smaller beater for good mpg...so many priorities!

Justin, hey, c'mon...at the very worst this ain't any worse than Ramblings!
Just for you:

About the sucking and whatnot, I'm definitely interested so I hope you're not playing with me.
