Good job J. You can always just replace the aspec rear lip too...

Edit: Also, note the rainbow look on your headlights in the photo directly above. I love that. That's when you know the headlights are clean and mint!

Thanks, Chad.

You'll never guess why I DIDN'T just go ahead and replace...I was afraid I'd pick the Type S and be locked into a quad exhaust, or get the another base and be mad at myself for going base and not having upgraded when I had a chance. The indecisiveness is what kept me from pulling the trigger and I guess now that I got the tips figured out it was the push I needed to know that I wanted to keep the base look and if that was the case might as well try my hand at repair before dropping the coin on a replacement.

About the headlights, thanks man...as you know I recently modded my backup set...it dawned on me that they had the factory coating on them that hadnt been polished off. So I'm trying my best to preserve that with this...every time i wash the car:

LMAO, yeah...not missing much, Anil. My DIY pictures are always done via phone to photobucket. I don't waste high res space on flicker for anything that isn't visually pleasing.

For the next few weeks Im just throwing money at my car. I have a work truck so I haven't bothered fixing my car, but I I figured it was time to start getting her up and running its only been 6 months.

I have the trans paid for. Then comes the drop. And And getting my rims back on. Then we could go for the shoot we spoke about like a year ago. Then tyler can hate me while appreciating some nice pics

Tyler...feeling's mutal.
Dennis, you put it on often? Seem to keep the sun from getting to it? I had only decided to do it recently...wasn't sure how good it'd be at long term protection.

it does, but it lasts for a few years. aaaand, it's only like $20 to replace! the latest version of the film is pretty much invisible and protects against oxidation/sun damage/rock chips.

I may take that approach then, I'm sure that would look good over a freshly polished/compounded set. I'm assuming you just apply to the outside with water/soap/squeegee?

yep, just make sure the surface is clean. I bought some scraps off the guy who did my front bumper for a few bucks. if you are planning to bake your headlights in the future, just make sure to remove the film prior so it doesn't melt onto your lenses.

Nice, I might take that approach if I ever put my teal ones back on...I'm convinced once you sand/polish the OEM UV coating off, they're never the same.

Maybe I should just slap that on mine now.

Never the same? I'd wager mine are better now then when I got the car.

You're not happy with the spar coating? I thought that stuff did a fantastic job.

It yellowed over time, so eventually I sanded it off. Nothing is better than the OEM coating...
Maybe it's the SoFla Sun beating on it? relentless?

When I first applied it, it looked absolutely glorious, I will admit that!
Well, who knows..maybe I mixed too much spar vs mineral spirits or put on too many coats! I did like 3 coats as it was drying. Should have stopped at 1!

Yea we differed there. I did 1:1 and only did one coat.

I hope it doesn't yellow on me!

I used to only do it when I refinish lenses. I am going to start buffing and using it more often.

Well, I did a 1 to 1 mix, but then put 3 coats on.
Dennis, that stuff doesn't seem permanent so I am just doing it often now.

You're right Jeremy. I think you're not supposed to go over 3,000 RPM up to 300 miles on the clock and 4,000 RPM up to the 500 mile mark.

I'm getting on it, but not at high revs.

Looks good man. The spacers make a huge difference on that cutoff line don't they!

I ran across a good deal on the newish Phillips XV bulbs on another forum and have been tempted to bite. With my Morimotos being so new I'm sure someone will buy them. I fear when the snow comes along that the ultra white, which already slightly bothers me in the rain, will be a glaring problem. The XV's seems to be right in the middle of that 4500/5500 range that the SVS/CBIs are at the same lumen output and slightly better dispersal/hotspot.

:/

Thanks, man...
I agree, no doubt, leaning toward the yellowish end of the spectrum a little better will definitely be helpful in snow/rainy conditions.

OR, just go buy some yellow polarized lens driving glasses!

J, I've been MIA for a long time now, but your car is looking great! IMO, the new tips look perfect on your car, and complement the base A-spec lip. And I'm loving the CBI/ZKW combo, every time I drive I'm still taken aback at first at the amount of output and the cutoff.

No sir, not my brakes but as I came to a stop I heard it and knew it would sound like it was mine. It was a car/truck to the left. Thanks, man...yeah, I was at the light and thought, gotta record this bridge.

Kurt, youdaman...thanks, man! I appreciate the compliment. I'm VERY happy with how it all turned out for me. I'm floored by the fact that the cutoff was never really obvious with the ddm bulbs. CBI's are where it's at!
