Awesome write up John...I'm going to light mine up but wouldn't bet on them being any different from yours...I'd say a LARGE percentage of why I got them was because the bluish hue was supposed to be corrected so I would be MORE than disappointed if that's not the case. I'd be pissed, actually.

Unless I'm color blind (I'm not), I'm sure you'll see what I see. Either Anil has a 6k version of these that we don't, or he's the one who's color blind.

He can't be color blind, brother...I asked him numerous times if it was the same white or bluer...it wouldn't be hard to put in the rear and compare it to the old front USR at the same time at night to confirm. If it was just some guy on the forum I wouldn't give a sh*t but he was the spokesperson for USR for these...the guinea pig and tester for it so my purchase was based solely on his review of them.

I still think it's cool that they blink...but that was 50% of why I ordered them. If the color didn't match (which ALWAYS annoyed me about the originals) I might not have been so quick to drop a hundred bucks.

My thoughts exactly...except I know 100% that I would not have bought these if I had known they weren't 6k white. Regardless, it's a great product that performs the switchback function as advertised, so I'm trying to focus on that aspect of the situation.

^^^concur...was trying to be impartial but I wouldn't have either. The non bluish white of the original USR's irked me since day one of installing them...I've dealt with it, but haven't been happy about it.

Hey John....

great great review on them buddy....couple of things here man....

1> the reason i didnt mention the color of the wire and went by the position of the wire in the connector is coz the wire color (might have) changed from model year to model year....but glad you posted the color of the wire on the type S.....it will make life easier for folks who are gonna do this mod....

2> color....the set I have is def more "cooler", in respect of color, than the old version (test version)....I have never owned the all WHITE sidemarkers....i had the Amber front and Red rear sidemarkers and then test fitted the V1 sidemarker and then the V2 and the V2 went in production....so the V2 were def more "cool white" in color as compared to the "warm white V1's"

but yes, I completely understand if you are not happy with this set if the color doesnt match....as i remember you were constantly asking me about the color....am going to talk to Simon, since you are a good friend of mine....and will see if he can do something about it (as in a semi refund or somethings in those lines) to make sure you are completely satisfied brother....

sorry if you went thro all this coz i passed on some misinformation....wasnt intended man....

^^^Thanks for that update, Anil. I haven't received mine yet but when I do, I plan to light them up next to each other to see if they are "bluer" white to match the switchbacks better.

Honestly, rather than money back, I'd like to see if he DOES have a bluer version, which is really what I want too. I guess I'll play by ear and see how mine look when they come in. If I'm in the same boat as John though, I'd much appreciate if you could include me in your discussion with Simon.

Thanks, Amigo!

^^^Not a problem Jer....I know you and John were consistently asking me about the color and I told they were "cooler" white than previous Version....i might have miscommunicated as i was referring to the previous version of the switchback sidemarkers and not the regular ones....

but lets see what Simon happens to say

Thanks, Anil...I appreciate the reply. I hope you don't think I was criticizing your youtube instructions at all. My intent was just to list the differences between the base and Type-S wiring so there won't be any confusion for anyone who uses my post for reference in the future.

Also, there's no need for a refund. Better yet, if Simon has a "cooler" set and would consider swapping out the set I have, I'd much rather go that route. I know we all may have a different idea of what is truly 6k and what is truly 5k, but the set I have are definitely nowhere near the color of the ones shown on the USR website.

let's clarify.

5k vs 6k, 5k is 'cooler'

but when people describe lighting, cooler is more blue, warmer is more yellow/amber colored.

so, they want the cooler (higher Kelvin) 6k ones.

i think that was pretty clear....LOL

we were referring to 4000-5000K as warm white and 6000K as "cooler" white....

on a criticizing note, dont you mean 5000K and 6000K in your post

dont hate me Sean

Yeah, I think you got it backwards....6k is cooler in terms of color temperature.

'cooler' because Kelvin is a temperature, but in light output 6000k (happy anil?) is cooler

Please do. Im debating wether I want to get it or not... I like the Oem look of the sidemarkers more than the USR ones.. But i love the idea of switchbacks.

^^^ you will need a relay for that....

you are better off doing that to your OEM sidemarker:

so OEM SIDEMARKER has 2 wires, POWER and GND, connect the Power wire to some relay and connect the indicating wire to the relay as well....

so it will light up red and when you indicated the relay comes into play and it blinks red

sorry for the thread derail....were we talking about Carrots here ?

not gonna fool with the OEMs. we think there is a way to do it to the USRs.

i mean, if they are white running lights and red switchback lights...there must be a way to just get rid of the white all together and keep it red running lights and red switchback.

Dang Aaron, I was hoping I could do that for you to make myself somewhat useful. Fine, want me to rub your back while you do my pressure switches?

Anil, I suggested the same thing. Seems like it'd be easier to mod the OEM marker to blink, but I don't know that for sure.

giggidy.

well i already sold my OEM markers so its out of the question. PLUS, i like the white running lights up front to switchback to amber. i just dont like the white in the rear to switchback to red. i just want red/red. not white/red.

i'm confident we'll figure it out.

You f*ckers...now I have to do a photoshoot of my car to salvage what's left of this page.

Modding the USR's to be red and blink red shouldn't be any different than modding the OEM's. The USR marker is basically an OEM marker with an extra wire to trigger the switchback.

Aaron, you wont have to do anything to the stock sidemarker....you just have to do this procedure in the back instead of the front...

https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/g-043-blinking-sidemarker-diy-guide-suitable-3g-garage-703668/

John, it is definitely easier to do this to the stock than to USR....reason being USR has a dual LED design (red and white)....so the white LED's will just be sitting there doing nothing LOL....
