i don't know what you got but i have 6mt so it rarely goes below 1.5K rpm. but when i used higher gears at lower speed i do get a lil resonance. i haven't noticed anything around 4K tho.

Do you have a catback installed? bklyn and againstallodds have the comptech catback. I've got a 6mt w/magnaflow.

Thinking of going with a larger resonator to tone things down a bit. Looking for something more subtle.

BTW, did a road trip through the mountains this weekend and all I have to say is this is a great mod.

Procats Installed

Well, I just got back from my trip to Jersey today. Man, it was a long ride. It was well worth it though.
I met Nitro, Mike and his partner (didn't get his name) at E-Shift. They are down to earth people. The E-Shift crew were very professional and informative. They answered all my questions.
They have a lot of sick rides there too! I didn't have my camera or I'd taken some pics.
Anyways, I'll get straight to the point. These things are awsome! No CEL on so far.
They dynoed my 5AT @ 229.4 Hp and 201.6 Trq before install. My only mod is the AEM CAI.
After the pro-cat install, horse power was as expected @241.8hp. I was expecting a bit more, say 18 t0 20, but got only 13.5. I guess the computer is still adjusting.
The up side is the torque gains. The torque after the install was an astounding 21.8 gain @ 223.4!
I can feel the peddle is lighter now.
Overall, it was a good trip.

cant see the details of the HP near the top but the printed 223.5 seems more accurate to the new 242,and is on par for what the other guys got ...also if you look at your graph instead of just the number...it's obvious your torque never goes above 215 the 223.4 number it a torque spike you often get at convertor lock up at the very start of the run

Hey tony no dought the exhaust will give you more. It seems with the stock exhaust it runs very rich. but never the less glad your happy with the Pro cats as the computer adjust it will get better. You can see as i pointed out to you today how rich it runs upstairs look at your graph compared to one with exhaust.

I've heard a few ppl talk about problems with the Outlaw theroblock spacers..Is this just after they installed the Pro-Cats. I'm not sure what is goin on with that. Was it an improvement by itself, then after the Pro-Cats it was restraining. I have a number of parts on the way and the Pro-Cats is something i would like to get so should i Not install the Spacers?....Pls help me out and let me know what you guys think...

thanks

i am not sure i called mine "a problem". i just felt the low-end tq wasn't as good. againstallodds1 had some loose bolts "problems" but that could be a lot of other factors.

bottom line is that this is a very ez put-on/take-off cheap mod. if you already have it, try it to see if you like it. if you don't like it, take it off. it will keep your intake super cool i can tell you that. relax, if you follow the acura service manual's remove sequence/install sequence/tq down, it's not like it's gonna blow ur engine or whatnot.

Wasnt too worried about it. Just didnt wanna waste time and money but the spacers just came in the mail, so thats out of the question.haha. I was just wondering if other users felt the same way with the mods. thanks for the input. I wonder if there is some science behind the two mods together not working out. hmm....

Got em installed on my car and they work flawlessly? I think truely...there is only one or two people that EVER talked about this not working out for them? And one of them was already explained.... Too many others that are having no problems>

the only possibility of these not working is if it were to interfer with teh hemholtz resonance of the intake manifold ...i cant imagine that lengthening the runners less than half-an-inch would cause appreciable high rpm loss

here is the link i am car 7026 the other was an evo as you can see he could not launch the car

Nice Get that 60' down, and you'll def. be seeing some mid-high 13's with that mph.

  • no problem with aem
  • outlaw is a separate issue. see here.
  • worth it or not that's too subjective. it's a good mod with good power increase thru-out the band.

As far as I am concerned....outlaw is not an issue whatsoever? But I think Ttlaing gave you the best link you can get to that "issue"....been used too many times sucessfully and written up too many times as success stories both here and in national publications for there to be a problem. This was an issue with about 2 people here.....and really not worth rehashing at this point. As far as the Pro-Cats; yes....they are definately worth the cost. There is no denying that it increases power and torque across the board...and no...I dont think anybody has reported problems whatsoever with these cats hands down! I have an AEM installed....fact is...I recommend it! So no worries there either!

Nitro, have you looked into chutches yet for your car? I also have a 6mt but I think I want to go ahead and do a clutch before I boost it. What have you found for our cars? will the Comptech clutch for the 6mt CL work?

yes i have been looking and nobody makes clutch for us yet. and comptech clutch will not work our tranny is defferent and besides comptech clutch was only a clutch and flywheel. you need the presure plate that s the main part. the stock clutch plate is fine as long as we get a stronger pressure plate

Gotcha, I have been looking all over and am glad to hear I'm not crazy. My clutch had a decent amount of slip from time to time and I'm sure it will get a lot worse under boost. Keep me posted if you find anything and I'll do the same

thanks

So just to confirm, everyone that installs these E-Shift ProCats should not change the sensors and would gasket will be best to use with ProCats? A whole lot of reading, just need to reconfirm, thanks

^ I second that! It also sounds pretty nasty when you stomp on the gas! My friend had his stock next to mine and when I stomped it, he gave me a thumbs up and said it sounded pretty good!

I think the only real time you could have realized a savings on these is if you got on the boat BEFORE it was proven technology over and over again! That wouldnt make sense would it>penalize the guys who got in up front based on theory and then give it out at a sale price later on to the rest of the people who didnt invest and waited? That wait ALWAYS costs you more money man....the puddin' is in - and the proof is in it now!

ok.. well when its time for them to go on sale. PM me. No reason for E-Shift to not make a couple extra bucks again with a true savings group buy.

I'll be waiting...
