I have a bit of an update. The harness works great on my iPod Nano. All functions work great.

My iPod Classic 160 does not have the same luck. The classic has close to no functionality. Seems to be a bug in the module. I spoke to peripheral and it seems to be happening with some other vehicle harnesses also. I am waiting for a fix. Some reasons for this could be due to the number of songs, I have close to 22,000 on my classic.

Any info on the new harness for the 07/08 Navtraffic? I just bought an 08 with Nav and read the whole thread lol. I was hoping by the time I got to the end there would be a fairytale ending.

Anyone know if this will work in an 07 MDX?

I just traded in my 08 TL-S for an 07 MDX TECH/ENT. I assumed that there was an AUX jack...but apparently they removed the AUX jack from the ENT packs for some reason, maybe they couldnt handle all the inputs.

In anycase i have to hook my IPOD up someway and im looking for the best option.

Thanks,

Sorry I didn't have time to read this entire thread I got through about 10 pages though, but can anyone clarify if the freezing problems have been resolved on the 04-06 TL? I have an 04 TL with Nav.

Apparently the freezing problems have been resolved with the lastest firmware. I have an 04 TL with the latest firmware on my Peripheral and it works flawlessly.... I don't even listen to XM or CD's anymore... all i listen to is ipod

No offense to your friend, but just 'cuz he works at circuit city doesn't mean much to me... LOL! I'm sure he's overqualified for his job and excellent with this sort of install.

You wouldn't break anything, the module is actually really easy to install. PeterUbers has a great write up on how to do it, check out his writeup below. I also included mine because i'm not sure what year your car is (note the harness I used is not available yet).

https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-audio-bluetooth-electronics-navigation-94/i-058-just-installed-peripheral-electronics-isimple-ipod-adapter-review-install-tips-697728/
https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-audio-bluetooth-electronics-navigation-94/i-058-playa4reals-peripheral-pxamg-install-3g-type-s-698771/

Plus you'll learn more about your car and have a greater appreciation for it this way.

We already have a vendor and samples. Thanks for the offer. The cable should be available 1Q2009 or by April 2009. The part number for the harness is PGHHD2 but will not be available for some time.

Thanks for the information everyone, i have been looking at the USA Spec and the peripheral system for myself. Just curious though, i just purchased a 05 TL w/navi no xm, and the dealership mentioned that they have the I-link for the ipod available for the car. Does anyone know about that unit? I was thinking of getting the peripheral unit until the dealership mentioned the i-link to me and now i am torn between getting something factory or aftermarket. Any help would be appreciated.

is that the apple ipod link? if it is don't get it. there were a ton of problems with it and acura eventually stopped selling it. does your car have an XM button? apparently the peripheral unit won't work if you dont have an XM button.

It is the ipod link, and the Acura dealership that i purchased the car from still carries it along with some others that i have called. They said it would work but the information will not come up on the screen because i do not have the xm button. Do you know if the reason they are selling the unit is because they came out with a newer model? or is this the same old one that isn't good so i should buy the peripheral system?

Just had the Peripheral ISimple unit installed. Everything seems to work fine except it doesn't pause the IPod when using the HFL. Any advice on what the problem may be. Any advice is appreciated.

A minor point of clarification is that the song titles and artist names do not scroll.

Peripheral, any help to get the HFL pause working? Otherwise the unit sounds and works great. The controls from the radio aren't as confusing as some people say.

I have an '06 TL with nav.

What volume do you have to turn your volume knob to in order to best appreciate the music? I find that with the peripheral ipod, I have to have the volume at at least 20 oftentimes... with FM, XM, or CD, 10-15 is more than enough...

PeterUbers, I've only had it for a day so keep that in mind. I find that the volume can change depending on the CD, but I usually have it around 15 (at freeway speeds). If I'm around town it is usually lower. The sound quality is way better than the tape adapter I was using previously. I do notice though, if I toggle between the radio and IPod the volume goes up when I go to the radio. Does yours pause when you use the HFL?

No, mine does not pause with HFL. Compared to the tape adaptor, your Peripheral is true digital audio transport to the Acura headunit.. you can't get better audio input than this, I promise, so I'm sure you're lovin' the difference in audio quality.

I notice that with newer iTunes songs the audio is louder .. i think it just depends on how the mp3 (.acc) was compressed and at what volume it was compressed.

Yeah it depends on the mp3, some of my mp3s are louder than others. Thats just the mp3 though because its the same if I play them on my computer or ipod or what not. Not a fault of the peripheral. The sound quality on the peripheral is top notch I am loving mine.

07 MDX Tech/Ent still has the Aux input. It has been relocated to the back of the console (accessible from the rear seat). It uses two coax connectors (red + white) instead of one 3.5mm jack, though. I do have this same SUV, so it is for sure...

Peripheral, do you have these updated cables (to allow iPhone 3G charging) already? What is the procedure to get the one (I do have the module installed for 6 month already, nice unit)?
Thank you, we all appreciate your support!

I have the module (Best Buy's iSimple version) for about 6 month already. It works great in AUX1 mode with iPod Classic 160G and iPhone 3G (no charging on iPhone 3G, but this is known thing). However the module does not see iPod when in IPOD mode. It simply says "IPOD NOT CONNECTED". I have 04 TL with NAVI; no XM traffic. The problem exists both with iPod classic and with iPhone 3G (so it should not be the iPod issue).

I tried basic troubleshooting steps i am aware of (reset iPod, disconnect module from vehicle for 10 minutes to reset the module, update f/w to version .26, make sure cables are connected firmly). However it still does not work in IPOD mode. This is second unit (replaced one with BB) - same issue on both units.

Does anybody have the same issue? Any cure?

Thanks to all!

you're also sure you're ipod cable is plugged into the correct "PS/2" style input on the PXAMG module?

i have a 2G IPOD nano, no issues ... with AUX1 mode.. do you get text, charging?

Yes, the cable is connected to correct input; verified this. There is no text in AUX1 mode (this is expected); iPod Classic charges fine; iPhone 3G does not charge (expected; known limitation).

when in IPOD mode, what does the ipod Classic (or iPhone) say when the unit is connected to the ipod cable? (e.g. "OK to disconnect")

iPod Classic does not say anything when connected; I still can control iPod manually (via iPod controls) and there is no sound in the car's speakers.

iPhone (3G), when connected, says about not being able to charge (that is known, not a problem).

AUX1/AUX2 depending on where you connected your cable will allow you to control the ipod from the ipod, but as a result, will not allow you to see any text on the HU. in IPOD mode, you will see text, but not be able to control the ipod from the ipod itself.

avlcat - try flipping dipswitch 2 in the ON position and try that solved the problem in my car. you'll have to reset the module before it will take effect.

I don't think it works with the canadian models because of the lack of the XM button on the dash.

It fixed the lag / freezing issues. Also I am not positive but it may be needed to use the new harness which allows you to keep your XM, crucial for the 07+ if you want to keep your nav traffic.
