Yeah you will love it. Only thing I wish is that it paused the ipod when using the HFL. That has been fixed though with the new harness which is supposed to be released early 09.

OK guys and gals im sorry i have been away for so long but its been crazy here with trying to get ready for CES and all. To answer a few questions....

1. NEW IPOD CHARGING

the new cables are available and shipping. all you have to do is email me at tony.tassillo@aampofamerica.com with proof of purchase and a mailing address and i can send the cable to you free of charge.

2. NEW CABLES FOR NAV TRAFFIC

no real update the same time frame as before. April of 2009.

3. HFL PAUSING.

Looks like the new harness (PGHHD2) will pause the ipod when the HFL is active. So far the standard cable will not pause from what ive heard/seen. This may be fixed in the future. we have to see if we can. Also the PGHHD2 harness for nav traffic will only work on vehicles with nav traffic.

4. BIG IPOD PROBLEMS

those of you will loaded ipod problems (22000 songs) and are having the ipod not connected / ipod connected problem, i have new firmware that will fix this issue. now it has not been tested on acura so we may end up flashing back to .26. email me as well if you wish to try the new firmware. Osceola ill email you and send you the file so that you can try it first.

How do we get the new harness if we've already purchase the old one?

I have a question about the iphone compatability. When using the pheripheral unit to play the music in both text and non-text modes, will the phone still be fully functional (recieve and make calls)? I'm assuming the iphone would pause its music so that you could recieve incoming calls but the guy at the apple store couldn't tell me for sure. Thanks.

Yes, you still have full phone/bluetooth functionality while listening to music -- when a HFL incoming call begins, the stereo will switch over to bluetooth (if you have the new harness the music will pause)... etc

I have had my unit installed for about 3 weeks now and I have experienced this two times, however, I only have 7100 songs on an 80GB iPod Classic.

It happened to me with only 4,000 songs on it as well. Send Peripheral a pm with your e-mail and he will send you the flash update. This fixed my problem. My unit works great now.

Good to see the new firmware is working without problems. I was hesitant to email him and get it since I hadn't seen anyone say everything was working fine. I will email him now.

Where have you guys been mounting the unit? I was thinking under the shifter next to the air vent piping.

Guys and Gals,

I have some bad news.... The new Harness for 2007-2008 TL Type-S will not be available by April 2009. Actually i dont know at this point if it will ever make it to market. As i was told today "If it does go to market it wont be any time soon." Hmmm made me a little uneasy. The demand for the harness is not as high as we tought and with the 2009 MY vehicles comming equipped with ipod integration that basically limits us to how many vehicles this harness is compatible with. I know this wont make many of you happy but ill let you know if i hear a date or anything changes.

I'll also see what i can do about making a write up on how to splice into the factory harness to get this working in NAV Traffic vehicles. This will only be done once i hear that this harness is a deffinate NO GO.

that's really disappointing to hear but I can understand the business decision behind it. Some test units were made, could a limited run be made for a group buy?

I dont think you will get 2000 members to say they need one. Good suggestion though. Also this harness can ONLY be used if you have Nav Traffic.

I am installing my new unit now and I am planning to attach a big iPod. It came with .26 firmware. Should I keep it there? I'd like to get the firmware fix for big iPods from Peripheral, but I don't know how to reach him.

I just joined this forum today so I don't really know much, except that it is great! This may be a dumb question, but I don't see any way to send a PM.

I don't understand how a production run of these cables would be so expensive that Peripheral wouldn't go ahead with their manufacture. It seems that the engineering is done.

I've been holding off on buying the PXAMG until this cable is available so unless something changes Peripheral is not going to sell me $300-$400 of their products.

If Peripheral cares, you can count me in on the cable.

How about tihs for an idea. P figure out what the cost per piece would be to make 200 of the test harnesses, add in healthy markup (50%). Most of the people who want these are probably not going to care if the the price goes to 200 - 225.

Thats the thing.... we cant just make 200 of them its a minimum of 2000 and were not sure if the demand is high enough to sell all 2000 as we dont wish to sit on product if its not selling. Those of you who work for a manufacturer know that demand is everything.

Like the post above says, its not written in stone that this harness will not come to market. we are still trying to negotiate with the vendor.

Yes but there's NO WAY this list will hit 2000. However, if P can negotiate a price with his vendor (say 2x the usual cost per piece) and pass that along to us at 2.4 times the usual cost for the harness there is good value to all. ex: harness usually costs P $15.00, for the special harness P's vendor gets $30.00and we'd pay 36 - 37 (or about 20 bucks more than the version that doesn't work).

Tony, keep negotiating, in this economy a supplier should be more than willing to produce 500 pieces (if you're paying for 1000). GL & thanks

There was some other member on here who offered to manufacture or at least worked for a company that did. maybe he can help. also maybe we can put together our own harness from two or three other harnesses all we need to know is the PIN chart for the wiring.

If you need to have cables made up (production or prototype) I am a manufactureres rep and cable assemblies is something that i do alot of. If i can get a drawing i can get it quoted for (whoever) the owner is... i didnt read this whole post because i dont have that kind of time but i think it would be periferal?
We already have a vendor and samples. Thanks for the offer. The cable should be available 1Q2009 or by April 2009. It is not just the cable that needs to be made it is the extended ipod cable (20ft) as well. I did get with my boss and he says that the cables are going to be made as it was tested in other Acura vehicles with NAV Traffic.

this was post 631 dated 11/15/08 maybe we can contact the person who wrote Peripheral this, maybe this vendor can help.

Thanks for getting me the updated firmware so quickly Tony. All is installed and working perfectly. So far no disconnect issues with the large iPod. And it sounds great!

As Rbeach mentioned, I have also been waiting for the harness to appear on the market, however this news from Perph sucks!

If the extra cost is still not viable for periph's vendor to produce, then release the wiring diagram to forum members and we can do our own shopping around...maybe sell back periph some extras...just a thought. I work in electrical automation engineering and sometimes we need special interface cables made, there are vendors who will do piece orders, but gets expensive if #'s are low. I could make a few calls, but without the schematics nothing can happen. As for the test harness...maybe someone can reverse engineer these to determine the schematics?

Hey playa4real don't you have one of the test harness i believe there is about 3-4 out there, why cant you guys reverse engineer them and share the wiring schematics with the rest of us, cant be to difficult.
