Ok guys, I've already tried 3 CD's and nothing will work on my nav. I always get "Please Check The DVD" or whatever it says in green when you load the CD, press version, and do the "disc load". I've read through quite a bit of this thread...I think I'm on page 25 or something and I've heard that the disc type and speed have played a factor for some people. I'm using Memorex CD's and those haven't worked for one guy but he used an HP CD and it worked. Another thing I heard was that if you press "Menu" for roughly 5 seconds after you hit "Disc Load/Load Disc" that you can see what file you nav is trying to load. Mine is trying to load the file BN2HH12C.BIN.
Here's what I did:
Downloaded WinRar and used that to open the .zip file that was just posted above this post. I put the file "BNHH401A.BIN-3.40c-MPG..etc,etc" into my CD/DVD burner. Then I drag n' drop the "BN2HHMLD.BIN" file straight from my navigation disc into the CD/DVD burner. I burned it as slow as it would go (8x) and finalized the disc b/c some said that helps. I've tried it a few weird ways 3 times and every disc is a failure.
...any help please?!

I'd like to add my 2cents...post #1357 is really all you need to follow to get this to work
I went from stock 3.40C orange disc to the new 3.A0 (2011) disc....I lost my splash screen hack, but I fixed it and had it going again in about 20 minutes....
if you already have a splash screen bmp created, you download the appropriate files per the mentioned post, use dumpnavi to load the bmp into your .bin file, and burn the 3 bin files onto a CD-R or DVD-R (both work) then load it and go!
I'd also like to point out that the files in the mentioned post #1357 are for the 'AD' OK Bypass with the AD tag visible, trip computer and A/C screen control enable...not bad. I do wish I could change the 'AD' tag however, maybe I'll look at that tonight...if no one has the dumpnavi.exe file maybe i can upload it somewhere for everyone...

TL-Noob,
If your Navi is loading BN2HH12C.BIN then that's the file you need to edit and you need to copy the other support files from your DVD to the CD/DVD you make. Is your disk the orange 3.40C disc?
TL-Noob and PeteThaPitbull,
You may be able to mix and match between versions but I don't remember anyone writing about it. It's hard enough getting it to work using other people's files and tools to hack it into something you like with the same version. Don't make it any harder. Find and use the tools for the version you have.

Sorry about the messy rar file with the zip file inside that I posted. I was trying to make sure I got all the files and went back and added some more without knowing one of the zip files had them already. Some of the exe files I renamed adding to the name after the .exe. Just rename them if you want to execute them.
Sounds like the 2004 uses a different file to boot from than the 2005 even using the same version Navigation disk. You'll have to modify your boot file. Try changing just the background and burning to a CD to see if you can get it to work. Use the readme.txt file from Bysin. I have some background sizing notes from others I below.
Also I'm using CD-R Verbatim disks but other brands should also be fine.

You can make the image smaller than 480x234 pixels, or with less than 273 colors, if needed.
The image must also be adjusted for non-square pixels, as originally posted by Arcticcl9:
===========================
keep the color, you can even keep the 256 color and not have to reduce it to 173 like other people.... keep the quality of the pic, you dont want a crappy picture right? make sure its under 113,000. check and double check by right clicking on it and going to properties or highlighting it before you open it in photoshop. if its too big, then use photoshop or any other pic editor and slice off a very thin piece off one side, small as possible, it should
be ok then, check before you use the dumpnav prog to alter the bin file. only alter the bin file once. you cannot keep trying to alter a specific bin file with a diff pic. it'll mess it up and you'll have to start from scratch.
so make sure the picture is the correct size before modifying the bin file.
the nav will automatically stretch the pic to fit on the screen

One thing to add to what clsdave said though. To keep the aspect ratio correct with the background. It's key to crop the image to 380x234 first! then resize it to 480x234 unlinked (photoshop) though. The image will look wide but don't worry, it will look fine on the nav screen because it will stretch it higher when display.
One other note, don't mess up on this hack, if you do then your nav screen will be black. You will have to unplug your battery, the whole process is a pain and time consuming, trust me. Listen to clsdave, mod the .BIN file as clean as possible, with the maximum 3 hacks.

I just purchased a 04 TL and did the nav hack. I now have the trip computer A/C controls (which don't quite work correctly but I really don't care about this) and the OK nag has been removed (it also just says loading... with AD at the bottom).
I had to modify the BN2HH12C.BIN because my nav DVD is v3.30... On that note is there a large difference in upgrading the nav discs? Is it worth the $$$?

Hey guys, I just updated to disc 3.A0 (2011) from 3.40 just like PeteThaPitbull, and I already have a custom background that I'd like to use but not sure how to create another disc that will work. A long time ago, a member posted here and had everything I needed packaged and ready to burn. Is there anyone here who could help in creating another one like that where all I'd have to do is burn the .bin files and be done with it? I'm not very photoshop and .bin hacker savvy so any input and advice would be greatly appreciated. That ok nag screen has to go.

2011 orange compatibility

2011 3.A0 compatibility
yes the hacks work with the new 2011 DVD. i just did them today. i changed the wallpaper and used AD's OK patch. i could not figure out how to change the disclaimer screen though. the size of the bin file was the same when i was done but it did not work. so i burnt a disc without the text change and it worked properly. can any 1 tell me how to change the text???
bonus question! why does my custom wallpaper take much longer to boot up rather than the stock screen???

I finally got to try the updates this weekend. So, here's the crazy thing:
I already had my own image from the bysin mod a few years ago, and was now trying to change the image, add the OK fix, and add the trip fix. Everything appeared to go smoothly, including the Nav screen showing the new file being loaded in, and no errors. But, when it was done, nothing had changed! Still my old image, none of the other fixes. Any ideas?
Thanks very much for any help.

oh! This is the kennyc 3.40c version of the OK mod, that CLSDAVE had recently uploaded (and in fact I am now hosting on my site). I'll try the image and trip mods separately and see if they work. Do you know if there is a working OK mod for 3.40c anywhere?
Thanks for the info. And yes, I have the backups

Does this not work with 64 bit versions of Windows? My command prompt is giving me hell. Spent the last couple hours figuring out how to get to the point of patching (tons of errors etc) only to have it tell me that I need a 32 bit install.

Is there anyway possible for someone to just send me the files I need for the hack?? I have been at this for 2 days straight and get nothing but a "check disc" error! I'm willing to pay for any help. Please, someone!
#1421
Which version of the disc do you have? I can send you my 3.5 files.
#1422
Wait, check disc in the computer or check disc in the car when you're loading the files? I got an error message in the car when I was changing the software, and it worked still.
#1423
any1 have tips on how to do the text edit????
#1424
make sure you are editing the correct loading bin. u can check by going to ur car, pressing the 3 buttons cancel, menu, and map (i think) then select version and it will tell u which bin is the loading file

I reported earlier that I was loading in the changed .bin but nothing was changing in the Nav. I was wrong, I realize now that the problem was I never wrote the new version to the CD (it didn't give an error when I did the write, and I didn't notice the date hadn't changed) so it just copied back in the old one. DOH!
So, now I have a bigger problem. The old CD has the original Byson hack. I can read it on my PC, and the car reads it too, but I can't write to the CD on my PC. When I create a new CD the car won't read it (disk error). I have tried every format I can think of, but no luck. I've tried CD +R, DVD +R and DVD +RW. I have tried UDF, ISO and bridge ISO/UDF. I have tried ISO 9660, several UDF versions, including 1.02, and several brands of disk. What am I missing? What format can the 2005 TL read? What free program can I use to create it? Do I need to run some sort of format on the disk. Does the disk need to be bootable?
Any help much appreciated.

I uploaded BNHH401A.BIN to my site (you might need to refresh if you've been there before), includes the 3.40c HMIManager.exe and navi.exe:
http://tournamentclock.com/acuranavmod.html
untested because I can't get it onto a CD that my nav can read (see my post above)

I finally got mine working. Not sure which of these it was, but until now I have not been able to get the Nav player to read my CD or DVD that contains the hack:
1) I created a brand new Data CD rather than overwriting an old one (this was probably the one that did it)
2) I included all the original Nav files on the CD, not just the BNHH401A.BIN and BN2HHMLD.BIN
3) I burned it using 10X speed and ISO 9660
So, see my post above for the location of the files you need for an Orange 3.40c hack (these files include the "AD" text, I do not have the hack that removed that). Also included is a BNHH401A.BIN with the HMIManager and navi hacks, with the original TL graphic
