All of u2's discography just made my first DVDA

Adobeman, you've certainly made this whole process a lot easier. Much thanks goes out to you .

Question: Ive seen a few pictures where the Navi console screen shows text (title/artist) of the current DVD-A is this because they have added certain modules on their Navi or can this be done by burning the DVD-A a certain way?

Can anyone confirm if anybody has had success in a 2006 model - the rest being the same?
Only one thing left to try on my front - a different burner - I have a really old (but extremely reliable) Lite-on 411s which burns DVD-R at 1x only ... will try burning on a newer burner and post the results.

I've got a 2006 non-navi and have burned one DVD-R so far. First 2 times it played flawlessly. Was on a recent long trip and popped it in and found near the end it started doing the random skipping. I had been leaving it in the car and assumed the intense heat of the last few weeks had damaged it and haven't had time to reburn.

Question Is is 5.1 quality?

Does the DVD Audio format wav files into 5.1 surround quality? Or is it just being used to burn a series of songs that a CD-r cant no hold (size wise)?

DVD-Audio has lots of different channel configurations within it's spec but the DVD-A images made by my GUI are only 2 channel. You must feed it 2 channel wav files. It is just being used to pack lots of songs on a disk.

The process of converting 2 channels to 4,5 or 6 channels is basically one of psycho-acoustics, "black magic" or a little of both and luck. Arguably the TL head unit should have had some "sound fields" implemented but it doesn't. If you want to play with 2 to 6 channel conversions play around with the Adobinizer. The link is in my sig block.

Great Program Adobeman! Thanks. Flawless disc the first time using Memorex -R disc, Roxio Creator Plus - Dell Edition, and a Phillips DVD +-RW SDVD8820

Maybe its me, even with my converted MP3s, the sound is so much better from DVD audio...

Alright ... brace urself - I finally managed to burn SKIP FREE DVD-A's - yaaaaay!
IT WAS THE WRITER!!!!
I suspected my drive (my old Lite-on 411) all the time - since it would burn the DVD-R at 1x only ... same wth my wife's laptop ... 1x burns and skippy discs.
So I borrowed my friends external LG DVD-writer and lo behold - none of the discs skipped! I even disc-copied my 1x burned "Dark side" DVD-A and that plays without skips.
So problem solved - thank you Adobeman - thank you everyone ... if u're getting skippy discs then try & change your writer (at least that did the trick for me) .

I tested 16x, 8x and 4x burns - all played flawlessly.
Need to test the following -
1. Use my HP DVD-R's and determine if the choice of discs is really an issue!
2. I suspect that the new DVD-R's don't really support 1x burns too well! will have to find out!
3. Get Disc Welder to burn mlp tracks properly - am still getting skippy Metallica discs ... which skip only on the MLP tracks!

will post results ... right now I'm spending more time listening to stuff

Thanks for the update. I was starting to wonder if I "F"ed something up in my code. Unfortunately hardware issues can be all too common and difficult to find.

This is so freakin' cool!
Thanks for creating it for all of us.
I must admit that I found it on yahoo search first.
I came here to validate that it wasn't made by a questionable character.
After all, I was about to run a msi file
Great work!

Now if I can just figure out how to get the songs from itune to the DVD-A.....

If you have an iPod (some use iTunes w/o owning an iPod) the easiest way is to get an iPod adaptor for the car. Seriously, you will not have to have separate DVD-As and your iPod. Also, there will be very little sound difference between your iPod through a direct (not radio or tape adaptor) connection vs a DVD-A of the same source files. The iPod direct will probably sound better since creating a DVD-A of the same will introduce some losses or errors from conversion.

Otherwise I think iTunes will let you convert to other formats. WAV would be the one you want to feet to the GUI

I do use an ipod through a tape adaptor (sometimes FM transmitter for concurrent charging). I wanted to get the direct link, but I'm not a handy person.
There is no way I can figure out how to install it. It took me 5 hours and a bucket of sweat to install a pair of speakers on my wife's s2000, I don't think I want to "open" any panel any time soon.
I heard acura dealer can install a link for 400 bucks, but I'm just being cheap.

I finally got a good burn too. I was able to take the DVD's that I burned (and played well everywhere except my car), and copy them with a friends burner (he had a DVD-reader and writer on the PC, so I was able to do a straight disc copy), using the same type of media (Memorex 8x DVD-r).

The resulting discs seem to play flawlessly in my car.

Don't know if my burner isn't producing a 'deep enough' burn (don't know enough about the physics of disc burning), or if it is an incompatibility between my burner and the different types of media I have tried. Either way, guess I am now shopping for a new DVD burner...

If I haven't said it before, thanks Adobeman for the utility, it is great, and I'm now getting to listen to a bunch of my music that I don't often get to (from laziness in changing cd's on a regular basis!).

It worked!

Worked like a charm! I used DVD+RW the first time around and the disc would not read, but DVD+R worked.

1st, im new to this fourm and I gotta say, this forum rock!
Adobeman, great work on the GUI...worked like magic. Although I can only get it to work with DVD-R and not the DVD+R.
Anyway, Adobeman...is there any way I can make the system displays the file name? Please let me know. Thank you.

I can't get mine to work

First of all, a million thank you's for this piece of software. Works like a charm. Got to convert all my mp3's to wav files easily, then to iso. So the software works great.

Problem is, when I try burning the iso file to DVD. I've tried Alcohol 120% and NERO but they both give me no play. They stop the process almost as soon as I initiate it. I have logs saved and will enclose them below. This thing is frustrating. Tried every possible tweak I can think of.

Sorry about the long log, guys. I'll erase it if you all have a problem with it. Just let me know. Didn't want to upload it as a txt or doc, so as not to spark hack paranoia.

I'll admit up-front I ddin't look at most of the logs you posted, but seeing the following leads me to ask what type of media are you using i.e. DVD+R or DVD-R and are you sure it's supported by your burner? Could also be this particular burner just doesn't like the brand of DVD you're using or you might need a firmware update for your burner. Have youever burned DVDs succesfully before?

Just a couple of quick thoughts. I'm sure some of the others here will be able to pinpoint things better for you.

get Ri-data dvds, there cheap and always work for everything. I've got ri-data 12x-R's and have never costered one in nearly 500 burns. Pioneer or NEC drives are key too they have the highest quality lens for the lazer so everything is that much more percise. If you start with quality stuff your end result should be at an equal level of quality and error free.

Hi E1!!!!!

It's work perfectly!!!! Thank you very much Adobeman.
I's able to burn .ISO sucessfully by using either DVD Power Burner (Expensive It costs between $40-$50) or ImgBurn (Excelent Freeware) Check it out!! http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download

I just discovered this thread earlier in the week and have since successfully burned 3 discs worth of music. What a great tool! I did run into one issue that I didn't see discussed, however, but found a solution to it. I keep my music collection in lossless wma. As you know, this tool requires wav files. However, when I tried to convert the wma to wav using Switch, the headers got messed up and the tool couldn't read them. My solution was to use dbPowerAmp instead. The vanilla dbPowerAmp doesn't process wma, but they have a codec plug-in that does. I installed the plugin, converted my files, and generated an iso image. I then burned to dvd-r using the Sonic software that came with my pc, and now I've got 192 Beatles songs on 2 discs in my TL. Thank you Adobeman!

I'm just wondering once the ISO file is created do you burn the DVD as a data file or a audio file. Also does it matter if DVD+R or DVD-R are used?

Thanks

Post Adobeman thanks a million!

First and foremost, thanks Adobeman for a great program to help alleviate my biggest gripe with the TL up to the '06 year of course. I can now burn a DVDA to my liking. Sure it takes a bit of time, but as they say the best things come to those who wait.

After a few minor issues and after reading the tons of replies/messages on this topic I was able to get my burn to work. I ended up using Memorex DVD-Rs as most mentioned here. I also avoided using Nero and used DVD Decryptor and burned at a slow 4x speed. I'll waste a DVD-R and see if buring at the max speed of my burner will still work fine. Thus far I only have had one song skip on me so not bad at all!

Luckily I got a great deal on the Memorex DVD-Rs. They were on sale @ CC for $7.34 (w/taxes). So again, thanks for your hard work and for sharing your talent with the community!

Burning at 4x instead of 16x worked flawlessly! The music sounds great in the car now! Thank you adobeman for your gr8 software

Let me explain real quick. First use the CDex program to convert your mp3 or CD music file to wav. Next take those wave files over to the Adobeman's DVD-A GUI program. To make things easy leave them all in group one. You should be able to fit approximately 95 files in all. Next click on the make DVDA button. At this time Adobeman's program will convert all the files into DVDA format and combine them in to one ISO file. It usually takes about 30 minutes for this process to complete. Then for your last step use DVD Decryptor to burn that ISO file on your Blank DVD. At first I tried to use Nero and sonic with all attempts failing. Then there was a reply that someone used DVD Decryptor. I then gave it a try and it works perfect. I really don't think it matters if you use DVD-R or +R. Let me know if you need anymore help. Good Luck

OMG. I just ripped two CDs to a DVD-R using CDex, Adobeman's DVD-A GUI and ImgBurn. The downloads, setup, ripping and burning of the cds all took under 30 minutes. Having two CDs (groups) on one DVD is AWESOME plus the sound quality seems much, much, MUCH better.

I'm going to rip EVERY cd I put into my TL to DVD-A now!

Thanks SO much for this!!!!!

My DVD-A Burn

+R's
I had absolutely no success using DVD+R's. I used Verbatim 16x DVD+R's and tried several different ways but the sound system rejected all of them.

-R's
So, I picked up some Verbatim 16x DVD-R's. Happy to say... SUCCESS! Used Adobeman's program, then burned with DVD Decrypter at 8x in a Pioneer DVD writer. Works nicely.
