2. Does the text work on the display when you play the dvd audio? All i am getting is DVDA 4:05 (song and track).

thanks for the help
1- Press the repeat + Scan button for 2 seconds or so and youll skip groups

2-Suppose to work if you have the US/XM headunit, if so and still no display, maybe its the way to burn your DVDA....look for the DVDA Manual HOW TO its really usefull! it should answer alot of questions.

Yeah, use CDEx to convert mp3s to wav first. The mp3 conversion part of my GUI is not tolerant of any errors in mp3 files

Adobeman,
On one of the discs I made, group 6 (of 7) only plays the first 14 seconds of each song, then stops. The track timer keeps incrementing, but there is no audio. If I cue or rewind a bit, then it will play 14 seconds again. It does this for all the tracks on that group, but none of the other groups.
Any ideas?
This is an album I bought from Itunes, then made a CD, then ripped the CD to MP3 for your program. I also tried ripping to WAV for your program, it didn't work either.
Thanks!!

Most problems like that are usually related to the ripping of the CD. I don't buy music from iTunes so I've never actually run the exact process you are doing. Ripping to WAV is best for my GUI. All I can recommend is trying CDEx as your ripping tools since it has been rock-solid for all. How are all the other discs ? How were they made?

It's weird.
I used CDEx, and the exact same process for some other albums I bought from Itunes, which worked fine. Those I ripped to WAV. For the one that didn't work, I tried ripping to WAV, ripping to MP3, then the whole process on a different computer that runs XP (instead of 2000), and tried putting it in group 3 instead of 6.
None worked.
It's Laura Branigan's The Best of Branigan that I'm having trouble with.
It's not that big of a deal, though, I'll just use the regular CD for that one.
Thanks for the response.

I haven't read through the whole thread, but could someone please tell me what the advantage is to burning a DVD-A disc vs. just putting the MP3s onto a CD?

Thanks.

06's and earlier, can't read MP3s. I don't know if MP3 capability was added for the 07s and newer.

Any chance it coule be a source file problem? Its always the same file(s) no matter when/where they appear on the disc and its always 14 seconds into the track.
Ever find a solution?
I have the exact same problem, with Laura Branigan's "Best of Branigan" CD.

Ahh. OK. Makes sense now. The '08 I just picked up can read MP3s and WMAs, not sure about the '07s.

It's not so much about mp3 as it is about the ability for DVD-A to hold the equivalent of 7 to 9 CDs worth of full CD quality stereo songs

mp3 is best left to mp3 disks, which DVD-A does not do in the TL, a direct wired mp3 player or other times where mediocre fidelity is is worth the trade-off. I guess if you don't have an mp3 player or a newer TL then you have to convert your mp3s to wav and then burn them so that's where the increased capacity of DVD-A comes in.

IT WORKS!!!!! Thx to adobeman for his great program. just in case others want to do it the easy way this is what i did:

1. rip from cd to wav using exact audio copy download EAC here

or

convert mp3 to wav using MKW download MKW here

2. add wavs to adobemans program, it kicks out a ISO image

3. burn to dvd-r with nero. I tried using dvd+r but the disc wouldnt read.

4. enjoy 7-9 cds on one dvd-a

I'm not sure if anyone even checks this thread anymore but I'm having issues trying to make DVD-A discs... I have on 04 TL Navi and after every disc I make when I go to load it in the car it has problems. After waiting about 30-45 seconds the disc will finally show up as a DVD-A on the audio screen but still no sound comes out. After waiting an additional 15-30 seconds (it varies) it will start spitting out some audio, usually the first 4 or 5 seconds of each song before freezing and then moving to the next track. During this whole time you can hear the cd/dvd drive making some strange loading sounds that are repetitive. The process I used to make my DVD's is below, any help would be appreciated, I don't need anymore DVD coasters...

1) I have tried using both Adobeman's MP3 to WAV converter and I have used CDEX.
2) After MP3s are converted I used Adobeman's program to create the ISO, works perfect with no errors
3) I burn the DVD using Nero, I have tried using both Verbatim DVD-R and Memorex DVD-R, I have tried burning at different speeds as well

I'm not sure what I could do differently other then try a diff program and +R discs, like I said any help would be appreciated, I would really love to condense my music collection, thanks!!

Odd how it takes so long to detect the DVD-A. Not sure what it could be. You've tried the same things I'd recommend.
Do you have any store-bought DVD-A that play OK in the car?

Try downloading the free trial of Cirlinca DVD Audio Solo and see if that burns a disk that works in the car.

i tried using this program but so far, none of my dvd-a's are working. The TL spits them right out with the message Disc Disc. Not quite sure what i'm doing wrong at this time. I loaded the mp3's into the program and pressed create DVD-A. Then i burned the iso image using deepburn (burn iso image feature). The burn process was a success but my TL just would not play the DVD-A's. Am i missing something?

^ i've had the problem before...you needed to install .NET framework 1.1 or something like that..but after that it worked.

after it said iso is done, it's in the images directory...i couldn't find it, it said folder was empty i did it over and nothing again until i finally figured it out...you have to click "Competability Files" when you are in the empty "IMAGES" folder and they show up for some reason.

but that's not my problem right now, the problem is that when i burned the image my TL didn't read the disk...it's on DVD+R...as i just read however mabe that is the problem, i will try a DVD-R disk.

Confirmed

Went and bought some DVD-Rs and burned the exact same image...and it worked. Now how do i change groups?

Some Info:

-Computer is a Dell Inspiron 1720 Laptop
-Device Manager says my burner is a "TSSTcorp DVD+-RW TS-L632H ATA Device"
-Burning Software is Roxio Easy Media Creator 10 Suite
-Original Disk was a Verbatim DVD+R 8X Lightscribe
-New Disk is a Sony DVD-R 1X-16X (Ver.2.1)

I'm about 90% sure it was the DVD+R/DVD-R thing..but then again mabe my burner or Roxio or the combination of both didn't burn the DVD correctly.

It could also be that the Verbatim 8X media was not readable by the TL's head unit...could be a lot of things but atleast i got it working with these new DVD-Rs.

Hold down Scan and RPT at the same time to change groups.

I just looked at the Roxio 10 info and it says "Music DVD", not "DVD Audio" so I'm 99% sure this is the same old music on DVD-V format we've seen so often on consumer targeted s/w. It makes sense since:

99% of people will want to play the music on their DVD-V home theater players
99% probably don't even have a DVD-Audio compatible player.
99% have no idea there are two formats. (DVD-A and DVD-V)

I just made my first disk. I want to explain how I fixed my problems.

I had .NET Framework 1.1 SDK, it didnt work for me because I didnt DL the .NET Framework Version 1.1 Redristruable package. So, for those of you who cant seem to install the GUI program make sure you DL both 1.1 SDK and the 1.1 package.

I also DL'ed SP1 for Vista but that didnt solve my problems.

Another problem I ran into was locating the ISO image. For some reason I could not find it through Roxio. Even when I manually looked for it I had to click on "Compatibility files" for it to show up. From there I opened it up with Roxio. I dont know if its Vista or what.

These are 2 of the problem I ran into, other than that music sounds great. I am using Memorex DVD-R

Good luck

yea i meantioned the "Compatibility Files" tab thing too...i was really thinking wtf when i didn't see them there, and i figured it out by magic...why it's there is beyond me.

another note, i don't get it but now i went and found the old DVD-As i've burned with that $35 program i had b4, which stopped working for some reason some time later.

anyways, i saw that the previous DVD-As i've made were on Memorex DVD+Rs, yes, +Rs...which really makes no sence since now if i burn my iso's on my Verbatim DVD+Rs they don't work in my TL, but the Sony DVD-Rs do..must be the disk and not the -R +R thing?

i still don't even know the deifference between + and - on disks...
