scv76, thank you!

So now we sit and wait, you should mention a group buy to those guys, so they can get excited and produce results faster...

I'd be down for a group buy. On DRL replacements and/or other lighting for our TL's.

OK, I got my Hyper yellow bulbs today. I was only able to install the drls as the manual is wrong. The manual says the fogs are a HB4 bulb (9006), BUT when I pulled my fog it is a HB8. The HB4 does not fit.
Here are a couple of pics of the Nokya Hyper yellow 2500k bulbs (drl)

Dan, thanks for the pic.... hmm I might put the 2500k in my foggies, dont know yet

Now I'll probably go hyper white for DRL and Fogs... I wish there was a group buy.

If you do the fogs, check the bulbs first to make sure you get the right ones. Like I wrote earlier, my manual states a HB4 bulb for the fog but I actually have a HB8 bulb.

If you have a HB4 in yours let me know. Maybe I can sell you mine.

'07/'08 Fogs are H8.

As Dan found out the hard way, the manual and many 3rd party fitment guides are wrong.

It's a pretty well known error and I'm sorry you didn't pick it up in various posts here Dan. PITA that you go through the order, anticipation, etc and now have to do it all again.

Soooo, while we are waiting

Was bored so while waiting for a solution from V-LEDS regarding the drl led lamps for the 2007+ TL's (if it ever happens), I played around a little more today.
Just wanted to see what it would look like if we ever find a solution
I realize these are night shots with no flash, so these pics will look way brighter than what they will look like in the daylight.
Will try tomorrow to get some daytime pics if the rain lets me

This is a shot of the LED DRL's without the marker lights on

This is with the marker lights on

For reference, here is a shot of the OEM headlights & NOKYA Artic White Fogs + Markers

This is a closeup of the LED drl (zoomed) You can actually see three of the SMT leds that are on the end of the assembly

This is a closeup of the NOKYA Artic White Fog (zoomed)

Just to make sure the 07' tl fog lights are an H8 not an 9006? I would go out and check it myself but the weather out here is so cold, looking to buy some yellow fog light bulbs and would i have to upgrade to heavy duty connectors so i wouln't melt my stock ones. Any replies would be great!!!

Ok, in the mean time as we are waiting for v-leds results, how can I disconnect the DRLs without getting a warning in the mid?

has anyone thought about adding a replay to the DRL's and make them really bright since it's a high beam set up

You can't. I think that is the crux of the issue. I suppose with some hack and slash and bit of electrical wizardry, you could do it, but there is no "so easy, even Bearcat could do it" method.

Hey svc76, how did you get them both to light up? I thought you said that you could only light one and there wasn't enough voltage for the 2nd?

I am by no means an expert and this is still an experiment in progress, so I don't have all the facts yet....but as we saw from my earlier tests when I had one lamp lit at full brightness, there is 12 volts available at the harness connector. At least on the right side (passenger sides yellow wire); I didn't check the left side (drivers side) because it was easier to work with the right side.

I did not want to butcher the oem wiring harness, so I purchased some pigtail connectors and Plug-N-Play harnesses from KYO and made my connections with those.
This way I can simply unplug my harness and wiring and plug in the original oem harness if I need to.

Anyway, I used the 12 volts available at the harness to power both led lamps by running my own teflon coated wires to the drivers side lamp.
The other side of the led lamps are connected to chassis ground.

Each led draws only 0.1 amps (100 milliamps) at 14 volts, instead of the 3.5 amps (3500 milliamps) each oem drl draws at 6 volts.

For TeknoKing.....about eliminating the dash warning.....it seems that the circuit must have a current draw that sets the logic level of the warning light to low or off. If not low, the warning light lights

I found that it takes 3 ohms resistance or less in place of the oem bulbs to turn off the warning light.
The only resistors I had available to me are 25 watt...not nearly enough wattage to dissipate that much current.
They did work (warning lamp off), but I didn't want to burn them out, so I didn't leave them in there for more than about 10 mins. Can you say HOT?? Man, you could boil water with them!!

This is not recommended;
I left the oem bulbs in the circuit and moved them to a place where they are somewhat protected.
Remember that these bulbs get very hot!!
There is a chance they could melt or deform plastic, and if they were to get wet, they would crack like eggs.
But this is an experiment in progress while we wait for something else...and hey, I have led drl's, and my warning light is not on.

Perhaps what we need is for someone to get the wiring schematic for the drl circuit and see what is really going on in that circuit.

im pretty sure the bulbs are stock. when filament bulbs are given low power they glow - LEDs on the other hand, if they dont get enough, they go out.

Ok, forget exchanging the bulbs for something white, I just want to disable those things period, for now.

You are telling me there is no way I can disconnect them without of having to match its draw? Damn those ugly ugly things have got to go! Especially when its night and you turn off your lights, those DRLs come on...they are no longer Day Time, they are freaken All The Time, lol.

Help =]

They are like a bluish color on my dvd... my actual drl's seem to have a very yellowish hue to them. Sorry for not clarifying but I was not implying that Acura was using LED's... It just seems the bulb for those pics is different then the one my car came with.

I'd much rather have LED's but if I could get some nicer non yellow looking bulbs that would hold me over till a good LED solution is found.

You can just pull out the fuse and then your good to go, theres just a little light that comes on in the dash that says DRL, you get used to it

My guess from what I have seen from my experiments, is they will have to come up with some
load resistors similiar to what we are using for the led turn signals in place of the oem bulbs.

Just dawned on me that I never posted a picture of the V-Led Drl lights in the daylight like I said I would back in post #130

For comparison, here is a picture of the stock OEM Drls's

As I was saying before, the color looks great but it can't compare with the output of the stock bulb......It dosen't even look like it's on unless you look closely. My car looks similar.

Advice to make it more noticable is to black your headlights out like mine. If you leave the reflector chrome and just black out the surrounding housing the DRL will be more noticable like mine.

Here is something that might help:

I'm thinking there is a voltge divider circuit inside the SMT towers to drop the input voltage from 12v to 5v. Leds generally operate at 5v. Bypass the divider circuit and feed it 6v from the DRL circuit and it should light up.

I don't see why people don't just pull the damn fuse and be done with it. The indicator light is hardly noticeable. I'm going to see about pulling my dash apart this weekend and see if I can just remove the bulb for "DRL" that way it won't display on the dash. It's really not a big deal for me though. It took me a few days and now i don't even notice it glowing in the dash. I don't even understand why everyone wants to get matching bulbs or whatever. As far as I know regardless of the bulb you put in their it's going to produce less light output because the wattage for the drls is much lower. Seriously just pull the fuse and give it a few days!

Talking V-LED DRLs Take II

Welp, I followed up with V-LEDs on the issue since I haven't seen an update in a while.

I got a very quick response from Jake that the new batch of 9005_3W_W's provide full output at 6~16v. So I'm going to TOFTT and order a set to see if I have better luck than scv76_ did.

Any update here???

I REALLY can't stand the DRL...they are nasty yellow, and what irritates me the most, at night when I'm parked and the car is on...I always have a few who await for me to leave the spot.... Day time lights? more like ARL..all the time lights.

I would love to have the same 'white color''as my Nokio Arctic White fog lights in to DRLS...or just have the DRLs completely off.

Hi everyone,

I replaced my stock DRLs (9005) with the MTEC 2X Cosmos 9005 (130W, 4750K) and they are not yellowish. They are bluish/white. I got them from www.automotivelightingusa.com

Had these for several months and still working.

Those're 65W draw??

I thought stock was 35W draw? Do you anticipate any problem (melted housings, over-loaded wiring, etc)?

They only draw half the wattage. I have no problems with the bulbs.
