I can't believe I missed this the last, what?, 4 .... 5 days? I just got tired of reading "no solution" and quit checking.

Nice find guys!!

I'll order as soon as I find $45 for PP.

BTW - sitting in a parking lot .... on "dad duty" waiting for the kid .... and was parked in front of a store-front Plate Glass window. Daytime and DRL's were on.

Even *with* the yellow, this car looks pretty mean at the front end. Got me thinking that at dawn/dusk DRL's and Parking lights is probably a pretty goo look.

Parking lights will not work with the DLR on - only with the low beam headlights...

Yup. I can confirm that they look really amazing with the parking lights at dusk or later in very urban driving as city lights.

And guys, best place for ramen noodles is Costco. You can get a whole case of Nissin for next to nothing.

I agree! The stock DRL lights looks pretty nice already. Obviously this is a safety feature which save me 3% on my car insurance. By upgrading to the leds, it will look even nicer. I can't wait for the new pics when people get them installed.

Throw up some more quality pics. You're the only person with 'em right now. UPS says mine will be in Monday. It'll be a couple-three days to get them in, pics taken...and maybe the car washed.

...have to look good for the pics, ya know.

I love the look of the led drl's I put in....even though they were not plug and play..
Haven't seen another TL in So. Cal that has them.

From the pictures posted here, I am guessing the ones you guys are ordering will
be less bright than the ones I used.
The daylight picture posted here looks like it was taken on a day with no sunlight at all, and they look pretty weak.
I understand they operate between 6-12 volts, but we need to know if they go full brightness at the 6 volts available at the harness

You guys that are buying these, make sure you post up lots of pictures.

Agree.

This is the best of both worlds for me. Barely visible on bright, sunny days and only noticeable during dawn/dusk situations at which time, they're actually somewhat useful - but definitely not mistaken for actuals headlights.

Yellow stinks!

I'm going to try to take better pics today with a real camera.

Yes on the brightness points, this bulb has only one forward facing wide angle 3W LED within a heatsink vs your unit which was a multiple SMT design; so there would be more reflected light from the mirrored housing with your bulbs. Also the output did weaken when the voltage dropped to 6 when I connected the second set in series. So they are still configured for maximum output at 12v; which is way fine by me since I'm on the TeknoKing/Se7en less-is-more side of the fence.

I'm thinking one could just hook these up in parallel to get full brightness, but then who knows what the DRL warning lamp will do.

Whether you actaully like DRL's or not, I think this is factually incorrect.

What I mean is, I am pretty sure there are stats showing that cars with DRL's are safer because they make your car more visible to *other* drivers during daylight hours.

IOW - they are most "useful" in full daylight.

(Now why some asshat driver can't see a 3,000+ pound car just fine in full daylight without DRL's - . But if the asshat avoids a collision because of DRL's, well that can't be *all* bad.)

Anyhow, this *is* the best of both worlds. Good Color, no dummy light and still have DRL functionality for the occasional asshat driver.

I'll agree with your reasoning...in general. I still believe, however, that the DRL's would provide more benefit in the twilight hours (or foggy and otherwise adverse conditions that have yet to initiate the "auto" feature on the car) as opposed to cloudless blue sky's, no?

...and on the subject of the auto feature, wtf? It's damn near dark by the time they kick on. I REALLY wish they were adjustable. [/rant]

....

Yes. Absolutely. I wasn't thinking of it that way.

BTW - your screen name freaks me out. It doesn't *say* "SEVEN", but that's the only thing I can think when I see it.

Wait. I just reread what I posted earlier:

I tried to fix my last post but was too late. Lemme explain. I didn't mean that they were NOT useful during the daylight hours...just that they provide, IMO, marginally more benefit in the dawn/dusk (twilight) time frames as opposed to broad daylight.

Sorry.

FYI... There are 2 screws that hold in each DRL.... Make sure you loosen them before twisting the bulb out.

those are the screws right behind the bulbs to hold them in place.
just loosen them a bit so you can twist your bulbs out.

Kind of a pain in the ass because you can't actually see them. Still doesn't take more then a min or 2 to loosen them.

hmm....This is the first I have heard of any screws, mine just twisted right out without doing anything.
Maybe a difference in models or years?
mine is a 2007 TL base.
Maybe with mine the screws were loose enough I didn't have to bother with them?

I think you just need to PUSH IN and then twist counter clockwise for the bulbs to come out.

No screws here either on my base. Just push in and twist...hardest part was fighting with the stock air intake parts on the drivers side, and we're talking like two minutes tops.

Wink

The correct procedure is to unplug the connector first, then push in and turn in counter clockwise. This is how you replace the H8 bulbs in the fog light housing.
