Oh man... Finally watched The Imitation Game because they have it on my flight home. What a freaking amazing story and great portrayal of Turing's life by Benedict Cumberbatch. also Kiera Knightley..... Love her . She's freaking gorgeous , and can't get over that accent.

I know I'm terrible for saying this, but I really don't like kids. And to be honest, that's putting it nicely. Wifey and I have already decided we're not gonna have kids. It's not that we would be bad parents, we just don't see why we have to follow society and do what everyone else is doing.
Nothing wrong with that. Kids are not for everyone, and its better to realize you don't want kids prior to having some then after.

I get a lot of flack for my decision, but I stand by it firmly. Dont get wrong. I do understand it can be very rewarding. It's just not for me!

You may never understand the full richness of life without kids. Some may say you two are selfish, or question why you two even got married when the union doesn't bare fruit. When you get older, people will ask about your kids, and you'll get that awkward no-fly zone when you say you don't have any. Some idiots might even ask if one of you are infertile. All of that BS doesn't matter, what matters is intangible without experiencing it.

Like I said I'd rather see parents that care about their children than the opposite. Too many people seem to have kids because "it's the normal thing to do".

Same can be said about anything though. Maybe the full richness of life for some people is about eating the best burger ever...

Life isn't about having kids for everyone. Plus you're not having kids for other people, heck you probably shouldn't be having kids "for yourself". You're having humans that will have their own life, they don't belong to you. They're not objects. You nurture them until they're old enough to fly on their own and try to be there when they need to after this.

Some people don't want the responsibility, some people know they wouldn't have the patience or the will to go through that and some people just plain know they wouldn't be good parents.

I think once you come to the conclusion that you want kids or don't want kids, it's better if you stick to it rather than go against what you want/believe considering the impact of your decision.

Anyway, I'd know better than to tell people they should be having or not having kids even if I want to have kids myself. I don't tell people to follow a specific religion or a way of thinking either for the same reasons. Some topics are interesting to discuss but ultimately peer pressuring people to go against their initial decision might not be the wisest choice.

Do put premium unleaded in your car, I tell you this much. Fuck 87.

I don't think it pertains to the discussion though. Most people have their mind set on having or not having kids prior to having kids. Know what I mean?

And those who don't... good job teen mom.

I'm still looking into things to make a determination. I know there are a few "tests" I can do to see if it's truly shot but I feel like those damage the car in the process. Knowing my luck, if my clutch is still good now, one of those tests would be the straw that broke the camel's back

Flywheel showed up yesterday and the clutch kit should be at my door tomorrow at any rate so we'll see.

I'll be hitting the highway this evening so I'll see if there's still any nip slip.

Do you really want your dad to own a Miata when he could own a 335i or a CTS-V?

Cmon Maj, I know we don't agree on everything... but please.

I'm not saying Taco should have kids.. I'm just saying that the rewards he thinks he understands, he doesn't. It's a powerful thing that isn't really tangible when considering whether to have or not.

You live, you die. Meaning of life is passing on your knowledge and love to others so it lives on and hopefully grows. No better way to do this and experience this love than having a little being of your own. I don't feel that a marriage without kids is meaningless. Marriage is the start of a family, whether you have kids or not. Two become one and that's very special and shouldn't be taken lightly.

It is a powerful thing, but it might not be as rewarding for him as it would be for someone else. So whether or not he understand what it is to have kids might not matter in the end. It's a gamble.

I agree with Fran.. Maj knows what he's talking about 99% of the time. He seems very wise, and I respect and trust his opinion on most things.
