I really like both Toronto and Montreal, LOL.

Ottawa is quite a pretty city too...but, not much to do. From the pictures I've seen of the east coast like in Newfoundland, PEI, and New Brunswick, there are some very pretty places too.

Would like to head out there one day...maybe on a massive roadtrip.

No, not much to do in Ottawa, but it's very puurty and there's enough history/museums/parliament/whatever else to see. Definitely not action packed, but there is history and culture there.

Don't get me wrong, Toronto and Montreal are interesting. Night life is good and there's some nice looking things too. Lots of activities is also a plus. I just don't think it compares to BC/Vancouver in terms of how relaxed things are. TO and MTL are all business business business, everything so square, conformist.

I like that, can't live without a big city near me, but Vancouver definitely fits the bill for something more ideal in my mind. Good mix of business and green areas. But if I'm going west, might as well go Cali. I'd love to be able not to put winter tires on a car once in my life.

Quebec and Ottawa are definitely the prettiest cities I've seen in Canada. Completely opposed to Montreal and Toronto though in my mind, nothing is business there. It's all touristy, everybody knows each other almost, everything is to visit... everybody goes to bed at 11.

I need new glasses, getting headaches lately. Girlfriend is telling me to get some, I tell her they're expensive and I need to put new rubber on the car after winter. She tells me "car is more important than your eyes??".
Hey, want to crash and burn while I carry you back and forth?

Riiiiight.

I think the exam is covered by my work insurance plan though. Or like 80% covered, so I should at least do that. Then buy glasses online.

Hahah yeah I figured it wasn't all rainbow and butterflies. The whole 'there ain't no such thing as a free lunch" adage.

I've heard good things about Coastal Glasses.. or just go on slickdeals. I hate the trolls on there but they have some good deals. I just lurk and steal deals I don't create an account and I delete their affiliate link before buying.

You know, I keep telling people that. Quebec is terrible for health care, hospitals are more than full and we're digging ourselves a big debt hole.

I don't use our healthcare system. I'm never sick or almost. People say "oh, but when you'll be sick you'll be happy blah blah". Yes, true. But seriously, there should be a base charge for exams so people with a common cold don't clutter the hospitals.
It has come down to the point that if you have a broken arm in Quebec you can be expected to wait 5+ hours. I've fell on my head as a kid (I bet you guys knew that already) and waited 2+ hours to get my head sown back together.

So sure, I'll be happy we got healthcare if I get cancer, otherwise I'm putting some big bucks into the healthcare system every year so some people suffering from paranoia can see a doctor to tell them they have a cold and not cancer.

I agree. I wish I could pay. Even being a T1 diabetic, I'd still be ok with paying. There's been enough times where I was bleeding all over the waiting room floor, only to still have to sit there for 3 hours before getting admitted. And then I get the dirty look from the nurses for bleeding all over the place. FUCK YOU!

My favourite was when I dis located my shoulder, before I knew how to reinsert it. I'd have to sit I. The waiting room with my should protruding out the fucking front and they would just make me sit. It takes a doc 15 seconds to put it back in. With X-rays, I should be in and out in 20 minutes, tops, but it turns out to be a 3 hour ordeal.

Our hospitals are crumbling here. We have one hospital that should have been closed over a decade ago because it's in such bad shape, but they keep doing bandaid repairs on it. 20 million here, 15 million there, etc. I can't even count how many times wards were closed due to pipes bursting and flooding the whole fucking unit.

This province is run by dummies, plain and simple. Rather than taxing the shit out of the oil companies (hey, they're not going anywhere, when the oil is still here), we give them tax breaks. We can't even have a decent "rainy day" fund. Now oil prices plummet and we're 7B in the hole this year and 5B next year. How is it that the richest province is also the poorest? Fucking joke.

Obamacare will lead the US to the same condition as Canada and every other country that has some form of universal care. It simply doesn't work in the long run and it is too expensive.

And by the way, hi!

Absolutely disagree. Many European countries have universal healthcare programs that are up and running and not turning in crazy deficits with crumbling hospitals and long waiting times.

France for instance is consistently ranked as having one of the best healthcare in the world. Many other countries such as Finland, Sweden, Belgium, Austria, United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, The Netherlands, Denmark, Luxembourg and more in non specific order have very high satisfaction rates.
Out of the developed nations, the US is almost the only without a proper healthcare plan...

Yeah I'll get the exam done when I can, then just check online. Will be like $100 instead of $300. Fuck designer glasses.

They do have much better healthcare systems, but they pay way higher taxes there for it. I know places like Germany even offer free university if you're a citizen. But by the end, it's not really all that free. If you have poor health it's awesome for you. If you have good health, not so much.

But yes, when wifey came here, she was shocked as to how bad the healthcare system is. Back home she could get MRIs and knee surgery in a jiffy. Here? You wait 6 months for an MRI and another year after that for surgery.

The problem I see with our healthcare is that it barely cuts it (hours in the hospital is unacceptable for any developed country...) yet you still have to pay a quite large amount. Not sure how to put it in words over the net...

Taco took the words out of my fingers....every country can have a primo healthcare system...if they pay for it. How much tax is too much? I personally feel like our taxes in the US are already too high. No country has ever been taxed into prosperity.

Enough with politics for me...
