Just replaced dad's thermostat in his Camry. Had a CEL and online said it was the thermostat sensor.. Replaced, nope. Went to remove thermostat cover and the thermostat gasket has swollen up... Luckily friend works at the nearby Toyota dealer down the street.. Dad opened up the radiator crap and realized a piece has broken off too.. Good thing he did it before we left for dealer. Went back, installed thermostat, flushed radiator and filled with OEM fluid and MORE CEL!!
Now to work on the other two issues: no A/C (flashing A/C light) and shit idle...me thinks compressor is bad/ no refrigerant.. And TB needs cleaning..
Oh also went by the parents house and installed some low voltage boxes before contractor puts up drywall so I can have some neat Ethernet ports in all the rooms! Yay for productive weekends!

Next year when the new gen comes out, the price might take a nice dip.
Or the fact that the next gen is freaking expensive, might increase in resale like the GT-R.
Same here.. I drive max 35 mph through main residential streets and 20 mph through residential side streets.

Didn't know you leaving for a week suddenly pussified you. Do you feel like nurturing the RLX crowd now or can we still judge those? I mean, I honestly don't know their life or how close to an NSX the RLX really is.

Gotta check my sister's AC at some point. AC clutch ain't engaging I believe. Now she's pregnant with a third one and you don't want to hear her whine about the lack of AC and how it's terribly noisy to have windows down and how it's so hot when you're pregnant and this and that.... yeah
Tomorrow prob going to check what's wrong with father's mustang radio, something is definitely fishy about the sound. One or both his trunk struts are fucked and pulls on the truck instead of pushing. Gonna use his 100 bill for that, the oil change and a quick in & out wash.

Alright poodle, you're right as usual. One must know every intricate detail of everything in this wide world to have an opinion on anything.

Yeah.. I hate Toyotas with a passion but my parents live in the city with the largest Toyota dealership in the world (by volume so they claim) so I guess I should consider myself lucky. Also my cousin's fiancé (like a brother to me) works in parts so I get employee pricing for stuff. I'm trying to get him to switch over to Honda/Acura so I can start doing more work at bargain prices

Why do you hate Toyota so much? Pretty reliable cars as far as I know. Their Toyota models are an absolute boredom (thank god for Scion now and Lexus for keeping it real) but otherwise everything seems good to me.

Yeah I've heard that claim from some Toyota dealership in Cali (don't recall the name). Hey who cares though, if you're able to do the job any time of the week I'd say that's pretty useful.

I think big picture, they are reliable but all the Toyotas I've run into have had issues with the strangest things that I've attributed to poor quality: actuators, plastics breaking, poor paint, low power output. They're great on overall engine reliability and MPGs (on regular gas no less) but I also think a lot of my hatred towards them stems from the fact that every other car around this area is a Toyota Camry or Corolla, every Asian family drives a Sienna and the common denominator is that they all drive horrifically. Icing had to be the 18 year old that hit me with his old Camry when I was biking last year.. Lol..

Longo Toyota . Yeah it's definitely convenient, that's for sure.

Regarding the paint I still think Honda overall takes the cake for lowest quality. Clear coat peeling and crows feet is the norm...
I don't have enough experience with Toyota for the rest, but just the fact I see so many Tercels still around is at least proof of their engine reliability as you said.
Did you get hit pretty bad or 'tis but a scratch?? I got hit by a pickup truck mirror once 10ish years ago while I was waiting to cross (that didn't help my case ) but nothing that needed physiotherapy or such.

Partially true but bad Asian driver was the scapegoat this time.

I actually bought a jar of Skippy peanut butter yesterday. Thought I'd switch brands up to see what's up. I must admit, I don't like Skippy. Not as much as my dog does anyway

So many patents out there that aren't being used. Like, fuck. People just patent shit and then sue if someone tries to build and sell, but never do anything with it themselves. Annoying.
