The 3G Ramblings & General Discussion Thread (Part 2)
I have zero sympathy for him. Not sure if it's the same down south as it is up here, but here, it's the dental hygienist that does all the cleaning. The dentist then spends 5 minutes looking around and says "ok, pay me $1000. See you in 6 months!"
They do the more complex things like removing wisdom teeth, root canals and stuff, but anything cleaning related, they let their "bitches" handle. I've had appointments where I spend 45 minutes with the hygienist and 2 minutes with the dentist.

At about 16 I had my wisdom teeth pulled. I didn't get surgery (didn't get put under). I had it done at the dentists office with only local anesthetic. He did it over two visits. First week he did the left side, next week he did the right side.
Worst. Pain. Ever.
The top teeth were fine. The bottom teeth were so painful because apparently they were growing horizontally and never broke through the gums. So he'd slice the gums open, try yanking, couldn't, then started sawing the tooth into little pieces. And I felt it. Even after a bajillion shots of anesthetic. It got to the point where he stopped with his fingers still in my mouth. I was like wtf is he stopping? Turns out I was biting his fingers so hard involuntarily, lol. Last time I ever saw that guy again.
Why no surgery? The recuperation time was only like half a day and I was back to eating normal food. Surgery would leave people in a terrible state for up to a week. Seemed like a good idea at the time.
Sounds horrifying Adam! I had all 4 taken out in one visit. Definitely put me under though!! I woke up in the car with my Grandmother, and we were miles away from the oral surgeon's office.. Lol! The top two had already grown in, but he had to cut the bottom two out and stitch up the gums. It was sore for a few days.
Ugh, I've had a fuckton of dental work done. Eight teeth pulled, palate expander, braces for two years, and headgear (thankfully only at night) for a bit. I guess my mouth was too small for all my teeth, which required the pulling. And then there was a fear (they took two wisdom teeth, and left the other two) that when my two remaining wisdom teeth came in, they'd knock everything out of alignment and I'd need braces again. Thankfully, that didn't happen.
Oh, and I lost my front two teeth to a tragic Razor scooter accident on the second day of 6th grade.
