No its something else.
import exporting has changed some. Domestic independence.
It's most likely a scam to scare citizens of the US into thinking the Republicans are responsible. lol

If it continues to stay any lower than $80 per barrel for an extended amount of time. Drilling will cease and production will be cut down.
Pump jacks will be turned off and it will be another 08-09 again.
In this area if oil is $78 per barrel than its only worth $70 per barrel as we have dirty oil and an average of $8 per barrel is cut from price due to more costs associated with refining.
They burn off most of the gas. So lower barrel prices will negatively affect west Texas and souther New Mexico tremendously. As well as the Rocky Mountains.

Not to mention we have had 1-2 fatalities on roadways each week here this summer.
Apparently with new CAFE laws. Cars and trucks do not do very well in head on collisions with Semi's.

My understanding was that the Saudis are cutting their prices and not lowering production...driving oil prices down. Also heard they are trying to crap on the Russians and other mid east countries.

To be honest, I haven't been following it much, but I find it strange how no one really ever talks about what is causing the prices to go down. It's not like the demand isn't there. It doesn't just affect Americans- it's the same story around the world, and while consumers are enjoying the cheap fuel costs, there's some big economic issues that will come forward if this continues on.

Also understand that North American production is way up...so that's fucking the rest of the world too.

True that...oil company profits go down and that hurts the economy as a whole

North American production is up to get away from foreign dependency.
North Dakota region has more oil in it than the middle east.
The only reason the US buys oil is to put a bottleneck on Asia and other areas from getting rss to continue growth.
We don't need to buy foreign oil to support our demand. What we lack is refineries. And it would take decades to build new ones to keep up.

Because 'Murica.
But in all seriousness, this sounds like it's a temporary move to get the small players out. I have no idea how many players are involved, but once they're out, I'd imagine things would return to the $100/barrel mark. Here's to hoping there aren't a huge amount of people who will be caught in the downward spiral, but I think that's the intent. US/Canada should just sell oil to each other

Gov't regs are so stiff that new refineries might never be built.

Nobody gives a shit when the price goes down.. yet cry foul when it corrects.
Hang in there saucy.. it's just to get people to buy the hellcat.
