Hey Fellas! Hope everyone had a great thanksgiving! I thought about making a post about a horrific experience I had last Saturday, I'll post it here since you guys know me best. My wife and I went to see this 2016 GLE 450 coupe at a somewhat local dealership. Prior to going out I examined all the photos carefully and used a mercedes benz vin decoder to see the build sheet. I called and asked the sales rep what does the Premium 1 package come with and does it have certain things like heated steering wheel, 3 way climate control and illumination interior lighting kit. The guy was clueless and was like I have to ask someone else and ill get back to you. About an hour later he claims they didnt have the key but based on the vin information it has it all. SOOO I said okay, great maybe we will come tomorrow to see it. I called on Saturday and tell him, we will be there at 4:30 pm to see it but I'm not bringing in a trade in vehicle, we just want to look at it 1st before making our decision. So he's like okay sure no problem. A little more back ground while checking on the photos on line, i noticed the emblems were missing and the tailgate was misaligned (Chrome strip from the outer tails to inner tails) So I asked if it was in an accident. The sales rep was acting as If I was bothering him with questions.. Anyway, we go and see it. I walk up to it and noticed the right rear tail pipe in this case the exhaust trim (since it has fake exhaust tips) was pushed in and misaligned. I looked over the body and bumper top to bottom to see any indication of paint work, but it was hard to tell since it was almost fully dark out. We go inside and they hand me the certification paper work. I read through it carefully and see it said "Damage noted, crease on right rear panel going into rear door". So I asked what does the crease mean? Was it hit? He looks at me and says oh maybe a door ding you know..

I keep reading through and I see it was certified on 6-24-18 so I'm like "WOW, it's been here for a long time..." the sales manager says NAH only two weeks.................... I keep reading through the paper work and once again, it says "Front brakes pulse due to warped rotors / rust" "8mm brake life on all 4x brakes" I ask, whats the Mercedes CPO spec on having brakes replaced? The dude was like "Im not a technician so I dont know but it was certified so it passes"... I'm like okay sure, if you say so. I keep reading and it says 3 out of 4 tires are at 5/32 and the 4th being 6/32. About half going on half and less of life left. At Acura and BMW that would NOT pass CPO standards, I know because I fucking did the CPO. So I ask if I can see the Mercedes CPO spread sheet. The guy was like excuse me and walks away. At this point I get up to use the bathroom. The sales rep comes back and says "I don't like it when people come here on a Saturday to ask a bunch of questions and waste my time" My wife looked at him and said It's your job to answer them since you make commission on selling cars, other wise, find another career. I didn't know this went down when I came back.. Fast forwarding, we finally go on a road test. Immediately see that the car is a base model with only a P1 package. No heated steering wheel, no heated rear seats, no cooled seats, ect ect. I felt lied to.. We drove back and went into the office to do paper work. My wife was like this isn't for us, its basic and I know you won't be happy. So I wanted to give the manager his time to go over numbers at least to see where I can get the number to, my wife said "It's really not for us because it lacks a lot of options and it's also damaged ect ect" The guy immediately stands up and says WELL WE ARE DONE THEN! and points to the door. I couldn't even say anything others than thank you for your time.

I just got off the phone with the used car sales manager who is Greek and I explained everything to him he can tel by my voice that I was sincere about the situation and knows that my wife was more upset than I was. It doesn't seem like we've had a lot of luck lately at dealerships. Hell the Jeep dealership wanted me to buy the GC SRT8 before test driving it... That was also certified with smoked tires and they told me tires are fine they have 6,000 more miles left... Buying a vehicle today is just down right painful and becoming a huge waste of time.

The way I look at it, doesn't matter if it's a 4K car or in this case nearly 54K. If you need to ask questions, then ask. This isn't our 1st Mercedes experience. Hell the 2014 ML63 we almost bought, the dealership had treated us like royalty and I got them down to $45,950. The Greek sales manager said he is going to have a talk with the two sales reps we dealt with. He gave me his number and told me to call him directly. He will also help me keep an eye out for what I really want which is a 2017 GLE 43 SUV not coupe. The coupe thing my wife wants, til she sat in it and didn't like the space in the back. Oh and the Sport + mode is nice but the "Enhanced engine sound" from the speaker system didn't impress me since i like hearing the real deal. Was still fun to drive around.

Finding the right salesperson is key
Bring in your own financing.. even if it's just a printout from your bank saying they'll bankroll you for xxx dollars on xxx vehicle.
The finance breh breh will beat it even it's a half point, plus they'll blow up the numbers if they think you ignant.
No on all warranties. If you do want warranty, ask right away what the employee discount is.
Finance guy will know you fuck. Then lowball that number.
