Hey Yummy, You should post in the mod forum that Supraru needs a fucking attitude check before we wreck his ass.

Just saying. He has nothing positive to say on anyone of his posts.

Even the OP's of threads he posts in are starting to talk shit to him.

Guys, I'm looking to do an upgrade of all of my lights while Vleds has this 35% sale going on. Is there a good thread that has a general explanation on the different types of lights available? My knowledge of lights is slim to none - I still am not very clear on switchbacks are lol.

Basically, I want to upgrade my stock fog lights to white lights, upgrade my DRLs to white lights, and get white parking lights (switchbacks?). Also am going to go ahead and replace the door lights with some whites ones.

I have stock 4.3k HID lights right now for my headlights and am considering upgrading those as well. I want the fogs, DRLs, switchbacks, and headlights to all match. I'm thinking 5k.

all your dome lights/door lights/reverse/license plate lights are 194/168/921 type LED

DRL, you have a 9005 bulbs
FOG you have H8...I do not recommend switching this with a LED. you can switch this with a HID kit though

Front indicator is 1157A - you want this to be the switchback
Rear indicator is 7440

if you switch both the indicators to LED's you will get hyperblinking and will have to do the resistor mod....

Searching for HID fog lights didn't turn up much...is there an in-house kit that everyone on here prefers? I see that there is a JDM DRL kit and harness - seems to be the hot topic as of late for replacement DRL, yeah? Or is there a better alternative?

either hit up a vendor called HIDEXTRA on here or get the kit from here:

http://www.ddmtuning.com/Product-Cat...hting/HID-Kits

bulb size is H8 and you dont want more than 35W....for color, I would personally get something that matches the headlights and the switchbacks (so 5000K-6000K) would be perfect, unless you like it yellow, then you should get 3000K...

Awesome, I was looking at DDM tuning but wasn't sure whether to go with 35 or 55.

Also, there are a few other optional accessories that DDM offers. Do I need any of this for our car?

As for the switchbacks, I'm looking at these. Have you heard anything good or bad about them?

switchbacks get expensive very quick....

you should depend this purchase on your headlight mods....

if you have the housing stock (chrome) and a diffuser (clear or semi-clear) you should be just fine with 60-80 leds's

if you have the chrome housing and no diffuser, then you should be fine with a 120LED switchbacks

now if you have the housing blacked out and no diffuser, GOD help you LOL...I am running this way and I have some leds from back in 2008 and they are fine for me I do not have switchbacks, just 48 amber LED's....

but in either case i recommend getting a set from ebay for $15 shipped....something which has 80white and 40amber (total 120 leds)....I think that will be just fine....no need to spend like $40-50 or more on switchbacks as they go out so very often....

I've got stock, unmodded type-s headlights and am very unfamiliar with headlight terminology so I couldn't tell you what I have but cheap sounds good!

Also, see my edit in the above post about the DDM lights.

You may not want switchbacks with type s housings. They have an orange diffuser covering the blinkers and the white will not show through very well. You may just want to get Amber led's for the blinkers.

For HID fogs you will need the kit with Ballasts, wiring and bulbs.

I am running a cheaper ebay but the ballasts take forever to warm up, I am also running a relay for the fogs to do away with the flickering.

I will be upgrading ballasts at some point. I suggest to just get a good system right away.

The jdmitoy DRL led harness is good. I went with 5k led bulbs from ebay to match my 5k switchbacks and HID headlights.

I am running 3k fogs with yellow overlays.

If you search my build thread you can see pictures of it all.

TheMachine is also running a similar setup.

LOL, do you really have a Type S???

The Type S has a clear diffuser with Amber reflectors....a switchback will work in them just fine

JJH,
For the HID kit, it comes with everything....you do not need any code eliminators....or any other items....I have been running the same kit for more than 3 years now....i like it

For the DRL's you will have to put in code eliminators if you replace with LED's....since LED's offer lower resistance than bulbs, the system things your DRL bulb is blown and will give an ERROR in the dash....a code eliminator will take care of that

I still recommend the switchbacks off Ebay...keep it cheap

So get all the interior led's/reverse light/license plate/etc from vleds
Get the HID kit from DDM
Get the DRL module from jdmtoy as sauceja recommended....I am testing a DRL unit for USR and it is going to be EPIC !!! if you wanna wait a month of so on that, you can get that for a good deal

Any other vendors that carry these HIDs? Shipping is a little steep.
