2007 TL Switchblade Key

Yes... I got my custom cutter in and I'm making a key to see if everything is cool. I want to make sure that there are no little anoyances that you have to worry about. The blank will definitely be a no brainer blank for the locksmith.
Yes... I'm making a new key for me as well.

Right now I've got one the being used to setup / test the new tooling. Once I have that squared away I'll machine the rest. That way I'll have a buffer so that I can get keys out to those first on the list. As I get more keys then I'll start selling them out right to those that want them.
At this point 10 keys will last about 5 minutes come ordering time so I am not going to sell those to people that haven't got a key yet.
It's still faster and in ones best interest to get key.
Monday I'll make a post with all the details and start taking orders. I''ve been waiting for close to two weeks with no word from the admin's and I don't think it's fair to the members to keep pushing things out. I'm trying my best but I can only do so much. Hopefully I'll get word before then.
I already have the immobilizer out of one of my existing keys due to my failed JB Weld attempt.
Do you think I could just stick somewhere in the new flip key's housing and save myself the money and aggravation of having the immobilizer reprogrammed?

Pete,
Ordered and paid for mine today. It's on backorder until after Christmas!

Part clarification
OK, I picked up my keys and I ordered the correct memory1 and the wrong, cheaper memory2 . . . .
Here's what I have:
35111-SEP-306 - this is the full, complete Memory1 key
35119-SEP-306 - this is everything MINUS the remote electronics - i.e. just the back of the remote with the switchblade key
So DON'T order 35119 unless you are replacing just the back and key blank (i.e. for those who tried and failed with JBWeld), but pricewise you may as well get the memory1 35111 . . . . . .
I will definitely get them both cut so I have a spare and for when all the demand drops down I'll get the transmitter to fit the memory2 case . . . . .

Ok... ordered my key from the eStore last night. Got home to find a message from the dealer where I'm picking it up (Karen Radley in VA). Message said that my key should be here in a couple of days. He also said that he's seen several orders for these the past few days (really???) and that they wanted to make sure that the people ordering knew that even though the order info says "Installation Included" that is not the case. $10 cut fee, $90 programming fee. I would assume the other orders he's getting are from people on this thread. Who else has ordered via Karen Radley and did you guys get a phone call as well??

Is there a specific range that the chip has to be from the ignition switch? I'm thinking I can just superglue it to the inside of the battery housing if there isn't.

Has anyone ordered from Pohanka Acura (Chantilly, VA) and received their key yet? I ordered mine about 3 weeks ago, and have yet to receive it. They keep saying "we'll call you when it comes in." I am so confusedd, and madd nowwww
Ok, guys, I have to admit...I saw all these doggone pages (28!!!) and went straight to the end. Can anybody - for mercy's sake!
- give like a small status update to the original question posed: Can we get a switchblade for the 3rd gen TL? That is just a lot of reading for someone just tuning in, but hella interested in if we can!!! I see some stuff about ordering keys, and waiting, and and...

I ordered my key from the Acura E-store yesterday and i heard nothing from my dealership. So i went ahead and called them today to confirm my order and they had no idea i placed an order. They said they weren't planning on calling me even though the key was on backorder. They had no idea what part I ordered or didn't give me a timeline to when I was going to receive my key. Kinda disappointed in the customer service i got from my dealership.
I'm telling you alot of you guys that ordered from the estore might be disappointed when you don't recieve a key. Just because you pay and everything goes through it still states subject to availibility in there confirmation email. After I ordered I called my dealer who inturn called Acura to inquire, Acura said they could place the order but it won't ship until they have them in stock which they currenttly don't. I dunno, but I think this is whats happening.

My first dealer cancelled my order without even calling or emailing me, the second dealer I put the order through called within a day and confirmed the order.
For some reason keys are actually available since my dealer was able to get me a mem1 key and a mem2 "blank only" after some people were told there was a backorder (I received my key in 2 days - came in yesterday) . . . . . . I think the trick is having a dealer parts person willing to work the system to get the parts.
Also, I'd bet if someone had an '07 TL they would be able to get a key pretty quick . . . . . . . .

The locksmith was totally impressed and we exchanged cards so that he could get some keys made up from me.
So here's how it went...
At first he looked at the '07 key and said... Where'd you get this?
I said I made it.
I tried stressing that he would need to make sure that the small step on the back was aligned with the original key but... he just charged in like a bull in a china shop and set the keys up from the tip... I was off by a CH but that was enough and thus the required jiggle. At least I can make another one that I can get to work perfect plus it was worth a few bucks to see if it would work.
We talked for a few and looked at his key code manual to see what other cars the '07 key and chip would work for. He also let me make a copy of the list.
Basically... any Honda/Acura key with a "V" stamped on the blank has the same chip. Not 100% sure if the grooves in the blank are the same but I would assume so. Whether the remote will work on subsequent models is yet to be determined.
The good news is that the machined '07 key and chip will work in '04-'06 TL's. It opens the door and works in the ignition with full functionality. There are also no clearance issues with the remote when you have to push the key in deeper to lock the steering wheel.
Somewhere in this thread are the instructions for programming the remote. I'll do that when I get home tonight.
As long as the key blank and remote are the same the '07 key will work for these models.
3rd Gen TL's (2004 through 2006)
TSX (2004 through 2006)
Accord (2003 through 2006)
CR-V (2006)
Element (2006)
Odyssey (2005-2006)
Ridgeline (2005-2006)
Pilot (2006)
Any model or year that is not on this list won't work with the chip that's already in the '07 key.
I've got someone making me a custom cutter and that will be ready in a couple of days.
Right now the fastest and most cost effective way for me to machine a key for you is to buy an '07 key or keys. Paypal me and send it to me with a paid return label so that all I have to do is put it back in your box stick on your label and stick it in the mail. So if you don't already have one... ya better get one.
Don't PM me if you already have done so. I've got you covered and will post price, shipping and other details once I have permission from the admin's to sell keys.
Lastly... Here it is in all it's glory.

I've read your post and it was so nice. I love the work you did. NICE JOB
My question is will it work on 2 gen TL (1999-2003) as well?
I've measured the length of my 2gen TL key and 3gen TL key, they both have the same size and same design of remote control. I am not sure if it works but I am very interested to get one.
If you know how it goes, please let me know. I will buy the key from you and let you make one for me. THanks.

The chip inside of the '07 key will not work with 2nd Gen TL's unfortunately. I haven't confirmed that the key part works either so I would not recommend that you go out and buy a key from the dealer. If you have a 3rd Gen key in your possession, I would suggest that you try it in your lock. If it fits (it obviously won't turn the lock) then we know that at least the key part works for 2nd Gen's. If that's the case then you'd have to cut a chip out of one of your key and locate it inside of the fob somewhere.
Pete
