i dont see why Memory2 is more expensive than Memory1

 

Not as used, so not as many made. There is more demand for driver 1, So there are more made, so the price is less. Thats the only thing I can think of!!

 

Anyone know where a Canadian can get the keys? The estore ships to US only.

Supply/Demand. I've seen cases of identical interior trim pieces that are 2 to 3x the price of each other depending on the color you want. Parts that can be shared across platforms are cheaper due to economy of scale (higher demand = more manufactured = cheaper manufacturing costs).

There's a lot more driver1 than driver2 keys sold to the public. I, like many here, have never used the driver2 key (except those mornings where you can't find your head so you reach for the spare set). Odds are Acura specified 2-3x as many Driver1 keys to be manufactured as it's the "main key" folks will use... and thus probablility dictates they'll lose that one the most. Since Acura expects to sell 2 - 3X the amount of Driver1 keys they can manufacture a higher number and thus reduce the manufacturing cost... thus 1/2 the price.

I just ordered 2 Driver 1 keys. Cheaper, and if I lose one, I'll have another Driver1. Noone else drives my TL... so no need for driver2.

Heh, I was pissed that the Driver 1 fobs I bought were all MEMORY 2 on the actual remote. Oh well.

I just ordered 10 Memory #1 '07 Keys.

Hopefully it won't take too long to get them.

I'm sure the look on the parts managers face when I pick them up is going to be priceless. So is the look when I flick open my key.

 

Ordered mine earlier today and got a call a few minutes ago about the 12/26 date for anticipated arrival. Bummer.

Here's something interesting... When I ordered the keys... the invoice they sent me says... "Includes Dealer Installation"

If any of you have this on your emailed receipt... you may be able to get the dealer to cut and program your key for free.

It might be worth a try.

Im interested in doing the whole 07 Key Conversion, but Im going to FL in about a week and a half so I dont wanna order the blank and get "the call" about backorder. Is there any way I can order it from you? Or do you know where I could get one that wont tell me wait til after XMAS? ((I havent tried the e-store yet, but by the looks of it, Im guessing thats what they'll say)) Any input is appreciated, thanks!

 

Well I tried to order the keys off the estore. Everything went through, then I get a call from my dealer and he informs me that the Mem 1 is on back order with a date of Janurary something arrival. This sucks how the hell are some dealers able to order these and some can't. He told me that unless I can give him my VIN to prove my ownership of a 07 he can't order it. I guess I'm stuck with my Mem 2.........doesn't bother me, I've been using my Valet immobilizer for 9 months now so it doesn't recognize any driver. I guess it will be nice if it recognizes me as a owner, even if it is Driver 2

Unfortunately everyones in the same boat. I placed an order for 10 keys and when they come in is completely up in the air. I might get them on Friday or I might get them in January.

so ACURA is not out of MEM2's or YOUR dealer is not out?? Ironically enough, My seat is in Memory 2 most of the time lol... Im the only driver so I have MEM 1 for laid-back comfy driving, n MEM 2 for high-support, sport driving (lol) It's kinda weird being the only driver and using MEM2, but it's just out of laziness - i didnt feel like reversing the two. Im hoping to get the Tails,side markers, and key(s) all done by Jan 12 (that's when i get back to NY from FL)

Alright cool thanks... the dealer Im gonna TRY to get 'em from has both for $35, and both for $118, but they have diff Part #s... one set is 35111-SEP306/35111-SEP307 and the other (cheaper) set is 35119-SEP305/35119-SEP306 does Part # matter?

119 is the blank only... no transponder (according to my dealer)...

which is why I keep reiterating the price is wrong, so order while you can.

For what it's worth... You have to get organized to prepare for the demand for this. You're going to make a mint, as EVERYONE will want one of these under the tree... Especially at the giveaway price of the keys.

The TSX guys probably haven't even heard of this yet, nor have the Accord guys. Wait until they see this.

Needless to say, your Christmas wil be a busy one... at least you'll make a few bucks in the end.

I suggest you take the time- you need to prepare, prepare, prepare... and don't come to market until you're ready for the demand. We all know the Acurazine crowd is fickle, and I'd hate for yet another creative and resourceful mod go down the drain because of a few immature folks get frustrated and end up bad mouthing you due to thier impatience.

Take your time, do it right. The market for this isn't going anywhere soon.

Amen and very good advice. As you've probably already picked up... I won't open the gates until I can deliver. I'm not going to make promises I can't keep for the sake of a week or two. Things are moving along well and everyone that wants a key will get one. Christmas will be a busy one... But it's also good timing... the plant will be shut down for the holidays and I can use the equipment during the shut down. I've always felt that the real pacing item will be getting keys. For sure Honda has no idea that the folding key will go from being a replacement part to an accessory in short order.

I can't thank everyone enough for their support and interest.

Actually I've already talked to the parts manager about offering the keys as a promotion or sell them as accessories. We agreed to meet again once I had mine finished.

I watched the locksmith program my key and without the original you'd need new locks. But... if someone wants to investigate me... I have nothing to hide and am completely legit.
