i'm going to do the jbweld mod for the rdx key for my brother's 95 legend gs
and i'll do the flbusa's mod with my 02 tl. If the remote doesn't work, I'll have to figure out a workaround. i already am committed to cut and pasting the chip into the new transmitter so i'm okay with that.
The JB Weld won't hold. Been there, tried it. I am working on a molded key replacement for the RDX or TL key that would have a blank spot to insert a transponder from an original key in.

As for the programming, with a remote in hand, turn the ignition on, hit lock button, do this 3-4 more times, you will hear the locks cycle when it is ready to program. With the key still on, hit the lock button on each of the remotes you wish to program to the car. Once finished, turn the ignition off and test the remotes.

This may be a stupid question, but can you have 2 Memory 1's programed to your car? I mean can I program my new #1 and still have my old #1/#2/valet all stay the same?

Actually... I'm having a lot of fun doing the key mod. It's been awhile since I've done a side project and it's good to be back in the saddle again.

Since you already have an extra key... you might consider getting it cut and then selling it. Or... it might just be too nice to sell.

Pete
If I get your key, there is no chance in hell that I am selling it.

Unfortunately I have 2 2004 master keys and 1 valet key right now (the 4th is actually being used for the remote starter) so I can't sell any of those.

Oh no...even if I did something like that...I would not sell it direct. You would be buying it off this guy...it was HIS idea...not mine. I dont do things like that. BUT, fact is...is would be cost prohibitive.

NOW FOR THE OTHER NEWS....NOW MY DEALER SAYS THEY ARE LISTED ON BACKORDER AGAIN AND THEY DONT KNOW WHY? ACURA TRUELY SEEMS TO BE PUTTING OUT CONFLICTING INFO ALL OVER THE COUNTRY. AND I SAW IN THE PC WHERE IT LISTED 90 EACH THERE AND AVAILABLE. Even the parts guy was suprised cause he said they were on backorder the week before and was gonna show me in the system where it said that...and it DIDNT...said 90 available. Now today is says backorder.

I think it's the fob/remote that the car recognizes as either Mem1 or 2. Either key works with either remote and vice versa.

At least I think so. Haven't tested it.

Busa, when the locksmith came out and programmed the immobilizer, did he also have to reprogram any of your other keys, eg driver 2 key or valet key??

Nope... Just the new '07 key.

I believe that you can have a max of 4 keys programmed. Upon programming key 5... the first programmed key drops off the stack leaving keys 5 through 2 programmed.

Yea its in the remote circuitry that defines the memory 1 or 2 settings, has nothing to do with the key or the immobilizer chip.

You've got to look under the part number, which was listed somewhere on this thread. It is in fact 35111-SEP-306

So you follow these instructions with your original OEM key??

http://forums.clubrsx.com/showpost.p...&postcount=128

then click the unlock on your "modded" key at step 13.

If that's the case, would you need to do this with your other OEM key? Or will it stay programmed.

All your other remotes will stay programmed, unless you already have 4 connected to the MID. So if you have the factory 3 still you can add one more key (being this mod) and you'll be fine

hmm thats strange.. when i had my accord FOB and i needed to get it programmed (the immobilizer part), the dealer told me that they would need the other keys bc they could not just program 1 key bc the other keys (spare key and valet key) would not work.. they told me that if they programmed the accord FOB immobilizer part solely, then the 2 other keys that i had in my house would not start the car anymore... I know that the remote FOB (door lock/unlock, trunk, and panic) work in the way where they fall off as you program more remotes.

Thanks lebowski! Just went out and everything worked great. I used the existing OEM key and fob for everything until step 13. So in essence, the only time you'll need your new 07 key is in step 13 where you click unlock/lock twice. And thats it.
Also FYI. All 3 of my keyless entries still work just like you said.

FLBusa: As much as I like FedEx, I think USPS Priority Flat Rate envelopes are the way to go. For example: I'd go and pick up 2 envelopes at my post office (for free). I'd then, prepay for my own insured self addressed stamp envelope and put it inside the envelope being shipped to you with the key. Then when you finished my key, all you'd have to do is put it in my (already paid for and addressed) envelope, seal it up and drop it in the mail. You wouldn't have to juggle funky packages/envelopes. Or do any address writing... which in turn could cause mixups.

Of course you could do this this with UPS or FedEx, but It would cost more and not be as fast (if you're using ground). With Priority Mail, it will be delivered 1-way in 2-3 days for $4.05 + ~$2 insurance. Plus it just seems easier to simply pick up two flat rate envelopes that are laying out at every post office.

Also things to consider are maybe having people pay via USPS money order. That way you don't have to deal with any personal checks bouncing, and the likelyhood of any sort of shady business is minimal (I'm talking about us, the consumer... not you ).

In essence, everything can be taken care of by one trip to the post office by us.
1) Go to post office key in hand
2) Fill out envelopes and put everything inside.
3) Pay for everything in 1 transaction (including money order).

But you can send him your prepaid postage for any carrier, I'm sure USPS picks up at his location.

Exactly.

Studville...

For payment... paypal is the way to go. You (the consumer) are protected as well as me. I even get a ship to address if you can't provide a prepaid label.

OK - I AM OFFICIALLY CONFUSED!!

When I first started with this thread, I thought the order of doing things was to:

1) Get a key blank
2) Ship to the Busa!
3) Receive mod
4) Get locksmith to program
5) Brag my ass off!

What is this stuff you directed studville to?:
http://forums.clubrsx.com/showpost.p...&postcount=128

Is that how to DIY it? If so, then it says I can only have two transmitters programmed and the third will make the first fall off. Can we get a step 1~? on this so we can be on the same page. Or, is that what we are waiting on from Busa? I hope none of that made me sound like an idiot, but I would rather not be one and not know it!

That link only shows how to programm your new remote/key. Just ignore what is says about how many remotes can be stored in memory. It may be true for RSX, but in case of a TL you can have at least three stored.
You still need you new remote/key modified to by Our Man and then cut and programmed (immobilizer chip in this case) by your local locksmith/dealer.

The locksmith can program the immobilizer to your vehicle. Now I don't know if he will be able to program the transmitter to the car, those are the steps to adding the transmitter to your car.

After being called my dealer last week and told that my 07 TL key would be ready for pickup in a couple of days, I just called the parts department and was told that they were on back-order (as many of you were told) and that they would not be in until the end of this month or early next month.

FLBUSA - I'd just as soon order the whole thing from you at this point whenever you're ready to take the orders. I take it that I wasn't in the first 10 since I haven't heard anything from you yet. Do you have any idea how many of these puppies you're planning on cranking out over the next month?

Thanks!

So ski, when you get your key, you're going to program the transmitter, and THEN have the locksmith program the fob...or what? What order? By the way, thanks for the previous info.

I was going to program my transmitter now, but I don't know what Pete is going to do when we send in keys. I didn't know if he was going to have a few made already, and just trade out the one we send and send us one thats already done. This would be faster for us and him! So I will just program the transmitter when I get the key back from him, then take it to the locksmith to be cut and have the immobilizer programed

I still say that we should have a step by step process to this so that we can eliminate people like me having their Lo-jack kick them out of their car! Well, that and the whole "I wanna be able to drive my car after all of this" thing. A cool key and a cool car (which I am sure that every NBP TL owner feels that way) means coolness! But a cool key and no car (if I can't get the hell in) means AAARRRGGGHHH!!!!

LOL!

I am so confused as to what in the hell your worried about? Not being able to drive your car? Why?

Only steps you need to do after getting your key from FLBusa is get it cut, get the immobilizer programed (all done by locksmith) then you can program the transmitter using the link you posted........this is assuming that the locksmith doesn't know how to do it. This is almost a no brainer, as you barely do anything but open you wallet up. This is not rocket science, its a key.

OK Everybody...

There's an Official "Buy your 2007 Key" post in the Black Market.

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...38#post5146638

I'll be contacting (PM'ing) the first 20 people that already have keys later today.

For now... read through the post if you still have some unanswered questions or still aren't quite sure about something. I've tried to cover everything but you know how it is on the first go around.

Pete
