I'll be contacting (PM'ing) the first 20 people that already have keys later today.
For now... read through the post if you still have some unanswered questions or still aren't quite sure about something. I've tried to cover everything but you know how it is on the first go around.

hey, sending the money for memory 1 thanks.
quick question.. maybe i read to many posts because this thread is extremely long, but i am a bit confused.. If I send my key to busa, and he sends it back and the locksmith still has to cut and program it, why am i sending it to busa? shouldn't the locksmith be able to just fit, cut, and program my key and all i'd have to do is buy it, and give the locksmith the job and its done?? or does busa do something else that i'm missing?? thanks, and sorry if this is a stupid question..

To be milled to the proper thickness and proper key grooves, ect. The locksmith is not going to do this for you. The 07 key is slightly different thickness, ect and he mills it down to the correct thickness BASED ON HIS FACT FINDING RESEARCH. Give it to the locksmith....he is gonna screw it and you will be back here again reading from page 1. If you scroll back it shows you exactly what it is he does. Its all on the up and up. This extra step is necessary to make sure you dont screw your ONE key with the locksmith....cause they have NOT done the research and development this guy has. They are likely to tell you it wont work by just comparing the two...then if you tell em to make it work...they are likely to screw it up before its done as they really dont know without trial, error, and good development work. Thats what he is here for. Then all you have to do is get the locksmith to do his thing as usual...no worries then. Trust me...your locksmith isnt gonna do this for you without sending it to this guy FIRST!

woohooo!
i found a local precision machinist who said that he could do the milling for me on Tuesday. i'm having him do the RDX key for my brother's Legend and the TL key for my 2nd Gen TL(of course now i get the backorder msg from the dealer re the TL key
)
anyways, the guy was working on a project creating a special rotation design for a major lipstick company in this tiny shop. i said, put that lipstick away and let me know if you can do this key mod. lol!

I would consider what FLBusa is charging is a great rate. He said it now takes a few hours to do a single key. Do you think $45 is too much for 2 hours of work? Either way, look through the thread Pete said there were some unforseen obsticales he had to overcome, so don't et your local machinist just jump in on your only key. You'll more than likely be sad about the outcome.

I never said that FLBusa isn't charging a great rate. I never cast any doubt or criticism on the value of the job vs the time it takes him to do it.
I have studied that thread ad nauseum so I am aware of all the obstacles and have discussed them with the guy. The RDX key is going to my brother who has a legend whose key does not need a middle groove like ours do nor does it have a transponder and i already have a standard 30 cent key blank for.
Once he is able to do this (which he is most certain of his ability to) I have no doubt that he could do my TL key.
However as you know yourself from being high on the list, the list is huge and if i can get it done locally by someone who is as skilled as FLBUsa in a shorter space of time.... once again...why not?
In fact from reading the thread he has already said that all of the info is there if someone else wanted to do it, so what's the problem if I'm finding someone to do it? i'm not competing with him nor am i a vendor looking to compete with him.....so once again....why not?

Competition is good, I wish you and your machinist luck
Why I asked, because its vendors like FLBusa who keep this community going. Without the charges that Acurazine taxes these vendors you could expect a lot less around this site.
So the question Why mean't, why not support our vendor?
I understand you on the time issue, but if you already have your key, and you send it to Pete it shouldn't take a horrible amount of time. Many people on that list are trying to purchase a full one from him, which he will run out of shortly.

I could have sworn that I said that I was NOT in competition with Pete. Did I advertise that I was selling keys for 43.99? Nope....
Anyways dude just got his vendor status this week.
I'm certainly not hurting his pockets one iota. And I have been a member of this site since 2000 dude.......I doubt that your brief history on the taxes of Acurazine vendors and the "benefits" of the site was worth typing. thanks though.......
Nonetheless, others have done key mods as well but I don't remember seeing you jumping down their throat....I found a dude 9 minutes away from my job who said he could do it and I'm going to get him to do it on Tuesday. simple. no?

Those other people were working on the solution just as FLBusa was, I was also working on it myself. Congrats for spending the last 6 years on this site, I'm really happy for you!
Since being civil and wishing you good luck and explaining myself doesn't work for you, I'm done. You can PM me if you have a problem, there seems to be an issue.

Not me.
All I did was post that I have found someone that could do it for me locally.
Go reread what you wrote and tell me how your initial comments were cordial....
Nice ad hominem about spending six years on this site. I clearly said that I've been a member for six years in comparison to you just joining 10 months ago and trying to school me on the inner workings of Acurazine and it's vendor policies....
Anyways dude.
Enjoy your day and your life. I've got better things to do.

I just got a key from my local dealer and I'm going to have a go at machining this myself.
I'm pretty sure from what I've seen so far that I will be able to machine this without stripping down the key...there's actually enough material on the blank to grip the piece.
I'm lucky enough to have access to some pretty nice machinery where I work and I think I should be able to cut this in one process...although I think the first may be 2 processes.
I'll do some programming over the weekend and probably do the first key on Monday or Tuesday. I'll post the results with a picture when I have it.
Cheers
