Rolling out red carpet!
Jason,
Welcome to Acurazine and to the TL forum. I hope you enjoy your time here. You will undoubtedly make some new friends and perhaps learn some things about Acuras from our vast body of knowledge and our shared experiences.
You mention that you have seen the new Acuras at the Marysville, Ohio plant (the only plant where they are made). Have they switched over from '06 to '07? This is a bit early for them to do that based on past years.
I can tell that you are coming in from the Southwest, so I'm wondering if you were visiting Ohio or perhaps you work for a vendor or supplier?
Whatever. Everyone following this thread is hungry for information about the 2007 so whatever factual information you can share will be appreciated.
Thanks.
Dave

Thank you for the welcome sir, as I understand it from one of our salesmen who won a recent national competition, they have geared up and are producing the 2007 models....these include the 2007 tl type s, we currently classify the 6sp 2006 tl as the "high performance" model but this distinction will be replaced by a new TL with horsepower in the 300 range, more distinctive body styling and the sh-awd that we as dealers should be receiving sometime this fall to early winter....i cannot confirm many features beyond the type s, but I havent asked, so we will have to see

Spotting the competition 40-50hp is often bad for business. So is stepping on the toes of your "flagship" big brother, but Acura may decide the RL can't swirl much further down the bowl of the sales crapper. The TL's replacement is due in model year 2009. By then I would expect for Acura to have a full blown case of SH-AWD and the TL may be one of the last models to contract it.

You're just pissed that you spent that money for the A-Spec body kit and it might be included on 2007 Type-S.
Now, if only they had a CL Type-S, I could really get worked up!
I'm sure the price will reflect the additional goodies.

lets not go sucking each others cocks right yet. this is the first i have heard and he doesnt have many posts to his reputation. it would be sweet if this was all true, but imho 300 hp seems awful high to squeeze from the 3.2 engine. the addition of AWD to the tl would seriously change acuras whole presence in the automobile market. they would probably have to sticker that car in the $40-45K range, which is a new segment for honda. but hey they are getting crazy and putting a turbo in the RDX, who knows?

Every salesman at every Acura dealership should know this because it means they can no longer order a 2006 from the factory.
Since you say they won't show up until at least fall (hint: it's still 7 weeks until summer), Acura will not have any of their top selling model available for several months.
I hope you don't get laid off during the sales slowdown.

How can Acura Change the Whole platform around and add AWD to a mid model revision... 2009 I can understand but not a 3 year model revision, and Jatt A-Spec was a Suspension and Little Cosmetic Change, TYPE-S Goes far as RIMS, Engine and lots of other MODS STANDARD and not price so much more like the A-SPEC.
This is def BS, Unless you can back it up I wont believe any of this, if this is at all true, I will def be cross shopping this with the 2007 G35!

Hi I have a couple of questions. 1) Do you know if the price will be that much higher on the TYPE-S model? Second those changes are pretty big considering the biggest change being the addition of SH-AWD. What's going to be so differant on the 09 model besides looks and a couple of luxury items? I'm asking because I don't know if I should wait for the new model in 09 or jump on this TYPE-S?

I have no idea about pricing or features beyond the increased horsepower and sh-awd, but I would assume it will cost more than the complete a-spec kit(suspension goodies etc), i only know what i have seen and been told...i will look into it though

Hey guys I just read this off of the vtec.net website regarding the 07 TL TYPE-S and 07 MDX..

To follow up on our Spring Cleaning brief we've received a few more (unconfirmed) tidbits on the TL and MDX.
First of all, the TL's upcoming Type-S variant is said to be getting a bump up to around 290hp. As we've mentioned, it will do its best to deliver that through the front wheels. Supposedly the suspension geometry remains largely unchanged, so that doesn't bode well for squelching the complaints of torque steer. We remind you that this information is still in the rumor phase at this point, so we'll have to try to dig up more on it. Inside the car, the interior is said to be receiving some minor freshening including a restyled shifter and revised gauges. On the exterior, the fog lights are said be changed but it's not clear what that means. This is purely speculative on my part, but perhaps this means that they will be relocated from the headlamp assembly down into the lower bumper? The person who sent this information to us mentioned that the wheels "suspiciously resemble Nissan's Altima SE-R (wheels)". Again with the speculation, I would expect that the Type-S will arrive in showrooms wearing at least 18" wheels.
As for the MDX, the only real development in terms of information is that the motor is said to generate 300hp from its 3.5L displacement. Still no word on a 6AT, but we can always hope. Since the RDX will be shipping with 18" wheels, could the MDX see Honda's first factory fitment of 19" (or larger) wheels? We should know fairly soon...

I remain skeptical since Honda said that the "Type-S" moniker was gone in Acura's line-up. Maybe someone saw the original concept and is confused?
Only time will tell.

Please, please Acura, don't make any difference on 07 TL. I still love the way they are now. I don't care about other competitors. Hate me those of you who are waiting for better TL next year.

I believe the chances of having a 2007 TL Type-S are high, since the only argument that I've seen against it is the faulty one that 03CoupeV6 made (several times I might add).
However, I'm not sure what to think about the possibility of SH-AWD. On the one hand, it would be a really big change considering it's a mid-model year. But on the other hand, Acura might just make such a change in order to catch up with the competition (I'm talking the AWD aspect only, everything else is great), instead of waiting until 2009.
Frankly, if everything Jason says is true (I hope it is ), that'll be my next car for sure. (That is, only if it comes in a 6MT. I despise Automatics. Personal preference, I know.)

2007 will bring a minor facelift. Maybe new taillights and a modified front fascia. (You better pray they don't do the the TL what they did to the TSX. That new front end is fugly compared to the first version.)
Will there be a horsepower bump? Maybe a touch, but nowhere near 300-hp. And I'll put money on the table there will not be an AWD version until the next platform.

If this article has any truth to it then there won't be SH-AWD for this upcoming refresh. 290 thru front wheels means just that, not all wheels.....
