Started on some in home porting
Yea, I used the lucus stuff.
Build will be starting very shortly.
Eye balling a engine stand to get started. I will get it tommorow or next weekend.
I smell 3.7 in the air

Someone help me pick some bolts to use to put my engine block on my engine stand.
The bolts need to be about 3.5" or 89mm long.
I found 10x85mm but, I thought the bolt holes were bigger than 10.
Can anyone confirm if these will work for me ?

Some main cap bolts will work.
Maybe I can use some off the side one's if they are long enough so I can get started and then order some up.
Going to find them now to see.
Mutha fucka they are not as thick as the main bolts.
I can't win.
Anyone have 4 main cap bolts laying around and can get them in the mail in the morning ?

Decided on the craftsman micro tork

And I'm waiting on one bolt.
I rounded up 3 today.
So I got a couple days to clean the block really well. I was thinking about trying to polish the whole thing but,I don't think I have it in me.

Got my last bolt.
put bearings in block sat crank in.Put the bearings in the caps got ready to check clearances and seen one of my bearings in one of the caps has a ding in it.
My luck,I know.
I should not F around and install them like that anyway.
I don't know how bad of a ding I could get away with but I can catch my finger nail on it.

Havent seen you around that much anymore.
What's going on with the turbo stuff ?
I've decided to leave the crank rods and pistons alone.
Whatever extra power I get is going to come from the heads, cams, valve springs and some flat face valves, bigger TB and a better fuel set up. And I don't want to deck the head or block either to raise compression since that will retard the timming and I don't want that.
I want the motor to have some reliability that will last and I don't want to spend crazy dough for all the machining/balancing and figuring from another mans hand.
It's bad enough I need to dig up about 700 to get the valves made. That will be the last biggest thing I will buy.
What ever compression is bumped up to from the valves is all I'm going to do.
my friend has some stuff to figure the cc's of the chambers and knows a little something.Once I can hook up with him Then I can start to figure exactly what I'm looking at with the valves to up the compression.

The pistons I'm using are from 07 mdx. They are definitly a flat top piston compared to the cls pistons. The valve cuts look deeper because of the tops.
I have not seen that 4gen stuff.
I went to finish off the botom end today but I was missing the gasket for the oil pump so I just installed the rear main and the water pump today.
man I got the best girl.
Today I said all I need let to buy that's custom are some valves and they were going to be like 700 and she says she will buy them for me for x mas but I won't have nothing to open.
Monday I will order the gasket get the rest of the botom back together tuesday.
Anyone know what size washer to use for the oil pump to get more flow out of it ?
Should I paint the oil pan black or purple before I put it back on?

You might want to shave pistons to avoid piston slap when over reved

What part of the piston are you talking about shaving to avoid piston slap ?
Far as I know piston slap comes from the pistons OD being to small for the cylinders.
Are you talking about shaving the skirts ?
Far as I no you will not get piston slaping noise from above the rings,it comes from the skirts.

First things first.
Getting it running.
And getting it happy with the cams I got.
Any form of boost that it may possibly see will be from nitrous. Even then I won't be just jumping into a 100 shot.
maybe start at 35 and see how it goes but, that's to far off to even be speculating.
I'm done even looking at my car for axles issue or trans issues.
Found someone that will bring a 05 tl base trans to my door for 500. And I would like to get the convertor modifyied for another 2-3hundred rpms over stock.
Will it happen ,I don't know but it's what I want to help deal with the cams.

07 tls reground from web.The same people they use for their regrinds but, a more agressive cut than what bisi offers on his site.
These have
.460 intake .466 exhaust lift not sure of the duration.
These are definitly not street cams.
I like using that silicone it's for 700 degrees.

Just paid a deposit on the 05 trans and it will getting delivered on the 21st.
I ended up getting it for 400 complete.
Cheapest option I could find
Now I need to get everything slapped in over the winter. And in the spring the cl will be ready to kick some ass.

Thanks,It just sucks not having a shop at hand anymore.
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeup.
I was not going threw all the bs of getting a 6speed one, parts, and install. besides the cost out weighs the gains imo.
Getting the convertor built will be enough to take away what ever edge the manual trans will have off the line, and if it's built more heavy duty then their will be less of a hp loss from engine to wheels.
providing they're are no issues with the ecu upping the stall speed.
Their is a shop a couple of towns over from me that builds custom convetors.
I don't want to bs with the shop till I have the convertor in hand though.
Changing up the final gears would also have the 6 speeders scratching their heads.
They're are options for all but,all custom.
I do know one thing.
You will never hear me say:
I missed a gear.

Today I don't have anything to do so I may possibly take a better look at the valves I have and reseat them by hand and get the heads built if I think doing them by hand will save me from a 2-3 hundred dollar valve job or not.
I don't think I'm going to get new valves yet.
When I put the trans in I want the motor in too. No sense of putting a trans in then pulling again to install the engine.
If the valves/heads will need a complete valve job then I will wait on the engine.
But looking at the valves they seam decent enough to get away with reseating them by hand.
So maybe some updates tonight.

Well I gave 2 holes a try today and I think this is great way to save some dough.
I did the first 2 on the left intake and exhaust.
Just need to hit them with the fine grit .
So siked.
These will be built soon.
I might go over them and fine tune a couple area's before I build them.

Trying,
Finished that heads valves and started on the other head.
Ordered some more porting stuff so I can do a little touching up before assembly.
just need some air and fuel stuff.

Me too.
And since I want mine built I just bought a $20 adjustable fuel regulator.
just need the fuel pump and a/f set up.
I was going to rip everything out of the car this weekend but my nephew is having his birthday party at his house on the 30th and I'm not going to have a bunch of kids playing touchy feely with my car.
So the weekend after his party the car will get it's tare down.

I just went outside to light up the x mas lights and had a package from eastwood ( my porting stuff )sitting on the porch.
After some quick touching up, the heads we be getting built ,very very soon.
It's funny how the small things can make someone so happy.
I feel like dancing. I actually was.

I did. Cant wait to get it fully running. From the short test run of the motor it is super lively. You can really notice the light weight and knife edging of the crank. Now for the light weight flywheel.
