More miles on the engine this weekend.
The whole time I've been breaking in the motor so far I've been driving in ss mode so I would not accidently make the car down shift and send the rpms screaming.
Well today was a little differnt.
Put a little more aggressive driving to the car to see what it would do.
I don't know what the hell I'm going to do for traction. Anything thing near 40-50% throttle it spins the tires with ease.
And I did a couple of easy rolling tire spins.Got to love the smell of sizzling rubber in the morning.

The car spins tires so easy infact I spun the tires to about 5k let off and gave it a another hit and it started spinning again with smoke comming in the car.
And far as the downshifing and seeing what it had. I was going 30-35 and floored it then it felt like it started spinning then too (maybe I'm tripping but I've had the car for 4yrs and it felt like it was spining)and this time I held the car till it shifted on it's own Before I knew it the car was at 80 getting ready to sprout wings so I backed down to the posted limit.

Back to normal driving for another month and then It will be ready for a dyno or at least a 1/8 run to see what this thing can do.

What can I do to get traction ?

Nice. We'll need some vids soon.

Wider tires help and of course the right kind of rubber. Not sure what kind of tires you have now. BFGoodrich makes some pretty sticky street tires once they're warm. As I'm sure you know, the cooler weather makes it easier to spin, so I'm not doubting they'll spin come summer months but I don't think it'll be as pronounced as it is now.
Stiff motor mounts and engine/torque dampeners will help sure everything up but that'll just make the spinning worse with everything being tighter and more directly connected to the engine, but still a good idea for overall performance.

I'm running yokohama avid envigor 225 40 18 92w on 18x 7.5
How much wider of a tire you think I can get away with on the 7.5 wheel ?

I was going to get a 215 40 18 so I could lower it down a little more for looks. But I guess If I'm having traction problems I should start looking into a wider rim and tire setup and lift the car up to be more sensible.

you need better tires, wider wheels and wider tires. I have those issues with 255/40/18s ContinentalExtremeContact DW with a partially built 3.5 (and i dont have the tune or light weight flywheel or intake/head work with the twin 58mm throttle body installed yet) toocool: (pic below is the mockup/prototype tb being used)

(though i do have a knife edge and lightened crank with 7lbs taken off

Are you updating your stuff somewhere in a thread ?
How are you going to open the TB ? doesnt it pull from the back.

I havent done any motor updates because the motor is still on the engine stand (minus the one day i bolted it in with old heads and intake just to see it run.

Ill make a new bracket that pulls from the front. That will be easy enough.

Got the 2nd stage of the manifold working and with it working it definity feels like it makes more power I had it opening at 3900rpm but,I got the wrong switch.
It just stays on when activated so it only works once.

Had to get the right switch now I just have to switch them up.


Also got the monster 90mm throttle body.
This thing is so big it could just about swallow a acura throttle body.
Maybe a little excessive at full throttle. But leaving lights with moderate throttle should be very noticable.

What application is that throttle body really made for? Also what are you going to do about opening up the intake manifold neck to match? That's a big difference over the stock size.

The entire neck needs to be cut off and rebuilt to accommodate that.

I figured that because there's definitely not enough material to bore it out that much lol. That should make a noticeable difference because our throttle body's are on the small side.

Just took my last ride with the car.
Going to pull manifold off before it gets dark.
Droping off TB and manifold tomorrow morning.
I going to have him retain cruise control.

Civic, if you could PM me some pics of your TB pulley side that would be great.

Good luck with your build as well.

Manifold and TB are at the shop now.
Getting the TB Adapted and adding Plenum spacers.

With the TB so large it should make good use of more volume in the manifold.

Really wish I've been doing the dyno's because I would like to know the gains with the TB and plenum spacers,I'm sure if the fuel could keep up it might be kinda impressive.

Need bigger injectors as soon as I can afford some.

today I stopped by the shop and their was no progress at all made.
Pretty shitty.
He said ,he would not be able to start it for a couple days.
I just left him the flange and the manifold.
I took the TB home to work on it myself.
After a closer look I'm not modifying the acura tps to work.
I ordered the q45 that supposedally bolts on.

I did get the TB to pull from the from today.
Had to flip the blade over and change around all the stuff on the pulley side to work.
Definitly not borthing keeping cruise for now either.
Got the cable bracket trimmed up.

And holes marked for tps,throttle bracket,and front icav line also.
going to drill and tap that stuff tomorrow.

I will have a complete TB The only consern might be I might have to make up a smaller TB wheel if it does not open enough and if the q45 tps will let me rotate it in the direction I want.
I know they rotate in the other direction but if they will turn in the direction I want I should just need to swap to wires.

TB ready.

Man this TB is far from a bolt on unit.

Had to
Change around the pully set up so it would pull from the front.
Had to re bend the throttle spring.
Had to grind the tps sensor side shaft to fit in the q45 tps.
had to install the map and copy the maps port set up to it will be behind the shaft.
Had to modify the throttle cable bracket to line up with the pulley.
some drilling and taping.
Only thing I need to do is add a iacv barb to the front of the TB.
I just need to find a fine threaded one.

hey have you guys ever looked at newer drive by wire throttle bodies ? to me it looks like the "servo" would come right out and our cable driven mechinism would bolt right in ?

IIRC, the TPS on the DBW throttle bodies are integrated into the DBW mechanism.

That's a tremendous throttle body. I'm thinking it could be overkill, but you never know until you try. Good luck with the build, I will be following it.

The TB might be a little over kill but,
considering a stock 3.7L uses a 80MM TB I'm thinking a 90MM should be on par for a fulley ported,full exhaust,larger manifold,cams in the future of my 3.7

Even though displacement vs. cfm actual numbers would say differnt.
90mm tb can flow around 1000-1100 cfm

Got some stuff in the mail.
102MM intake tubing,K+N filter,silicone coupler.
just need to get this stuff cut to size,welded,and add a mounting leg.
Their definitly not be no bottle necking going on here.

All I can think of seeing the piping is calling it donky d!ck.
I don't know if they are packing big one's but,That's the words that come to mind seeing it.
Maybe elephant would be better.

I hope you get great results but my 4.0 stroker had massive AFR and MAF correction issues on a huge intake. I had to return to a smaller one to get it tuned properly.

did you read what i posted on your traction problems ? get koni yellow adjustable shocks preferablly the neuspeed versions called SP3 ...littler stiffer shorter throw ... send the fronts straight to koni and have the valves in the fronts reversed ... now when set to full stiff the fronts will resists extension while the backs will resist compression ... my car got out so good i remember races with modifies sti' launching from a dig side by side ... i ran 1.9 60's on street tires

They don't make or sell the koni neuspeed sp3 shocks anymore. You can still get the normal koni's tho.

I love them, but I want to get out of the CL and Ive been trying to think of any possible way to recoup money from it. The car is worthless but the engine isnt. Unfortunately no one will buy it for the engine.

Stopped by the shop today to drop off my intake piping and the manifold neck was done.
I had to just tell him where I want the mounting plate for the icav to go and it will be done enough for me.

He said I will be able to pick everything up tomorrow minus getting the plenum spacers made.
I'm going to wait on those for now.
I'm wanting to get the car rolling again.

I still have to repaint and drill and tap a couple holes due to wanting to keep the price down and wanting the stuff to go on.

Got the manifold,and the intake.

Manifold still needs some cleaning,painting and a vac hose barb tapped.
icav is also going to have to be modifed to fit in the location I choosed to put the mount.

^ if you talking about the intake it only costed about 130 for pipe,coupler,and filter.

Dyno might come sooner or later.
I will most likely hit the 1/8 track in the next couple weeks and see what it will run providing after it's back together I don't take it apart again.

My car spends more time down than actually driving.
I wish I bought the car new.
I've had the car for 4 yrs this month and I think I've only put like 25k on the car.

Manifold and TB ready.

tapped the vac barb
made a TB gasket
lined up and drilled a correct throttle cable hole in the wheel.
painted and assembled.

Tomorrow I might check the valve lash again since I've gotting in some high rpm runs.
check throttle pull to make sure it's opening enough and if all is good should install all tomorrow.

That's absurd. Is that just a stock ported manifold? It looks like great work...and you MAY dyno? Wtf is that? You better get your a$$ to the dyno!!! You're doing some great stuf here man.
