Today a friend said he would come to help me drop it in.
After getting stood up with a "ran out of gas line".
And having the motor hanging from the lift in front of the car waiting for him.I put it in myself,can't beleive how easy it went in. So much easyier than with the tranny connected.

Tomorrow everything else time permiting.

Everything is in but, cai and battery.

Had 2 issues today.

Lost one of my header to down pipe gaskets so I made one from was bigger.
I don't imagine it will last forever and the hole might be possibly offset. Got to order another one asap.

When putting in the drive plate to convertor bolts in 7 went in no problem. The 8th was off a little and stripped the bolt.
I guess I will have to crack all the other's loose to get that one to line up.
Probally would work with 7 but,there's a chance their would be vibration.

Tomorrow I will attempt to fire this B!tch again.

Today started with a little frustraion.
Started the car with no spark,and had me confused.
went a bought a new obd2 scanner because mine would not link up.
Pop the new one in and the same thing.
So I went to the ecu and sure enough one plug was not plugged in.
Trying to start the car is stumbled a couple of time then fired right up .
The car car was running with a little back firing pops hear and there at about 1300-1500 rpm or so @ idle, a little high. when stepping on the pedal to about 2000-2500rpm all back fire was gone and would sound clean at idle for a couple seconds than start little pops hear and there.
Making me think the engine is need more fuel.

I got one code with the car running for low front o2.
The big hurdles are over come.
Now time to work the bugs out.
I need to order up a wideband badly. maybe i sould install my fpr and bump it up to about 55psi in the mean time.

For anyone that wants to know it sounds pretty bad ass.
I will get a start up vid in the next few days.
My memory card slot on my laptop got funked up some how and I will have to use my girls.

congrats. Now get the wideband and dont start the car again till then! it gives me the creeps just thinking about not having one on my car :P

Reset ecu and dash lights are gone and scanner finds nothing bad.

One thing I did notice was I have to block the icav totally to bring idle to a respectable place.



Can anyone tell me what their ingition advance reads live on their scanner.
Preferablly @ 1750 - 2000 rpm's
mine reads 35.5-36.5
Just want to judge how far my advance is set forward.
If it's to far I want to set it back some.

Got idle down 762-782.not too bad.
ign advance reads 10.5-11.5 now.
Getting a miss fire code now but no cel

Everything is all good now.

I forgot to re change plugs after them getting flooded out by the other cams.
2 were fouled.
That code is gone.
After making a icav restrictor idle is about 850 witch is fine to me.
glad to take the tape off the front icav port on the tb.
Seams to idle just like stock now.
Did about 20 mile drive and got a p1706 range switch.
I guess I will have to look at that next.
engine running fine.
down shifts seam a little hard.
range switch should be good it came from my other trans.
Possibly might need a adjustment I'm thinking.

Car is building more power.
Got about 75 miles on the engine now.
It is starting to feel like it's going to have some balls.

No more trans codes but,I should check into it.
The indicator lights light up where the are supposed to be and the reverse lights come on with reverse but,I have to almost pull them to the next gear before they will light.
The hard down shifts are gone but It feels like there is some shuttering on acceleration.

switched out the web cams to the 08 tls cams,fired right up.

I definitly thimk the shuttering has to do with the imdicator lights not lighting up right.
came to a stop and I could hear click click click about 6-7 times really fastlike the same pattern as the shuttering.

Anyone have this issue with the tl trans swap ?

Ya man.

I actually just came in from installing a new fuel pump and regulator.
Without being able to actually tune it the motor seams to be liking 62psi.
Seams a bit high but, fuel Trims at 3k look great looking at the scanner.
And timming at 3k is showing 42.5 degress
Also the car runs great now since re moving the crank sensor no matter how hard a press the accerator.
I got about 160miles on the engine.
Next weekend I will do another oil change and adjust the valves and re check compression numbers.
I really hope they will build good #'s by then.

On my way to being the fastest P.
Still need a/f stuff,type s ecu,and something to open the 2nd stage of the manifold.
This car will be fast when the re grind cams get in I know that much

heard a G37 last night with after market little loud and deep at start up ... but as he pulled away it got less loud yet deep throaty and no rasp ... i would never drive that car if thats how it had to sound not if it were 700 hp and im not trying to be offensive ... im all for the power but i always tried to think BMW M5 type sound not civic EK with a swap and a cut out

It does sound very loud but, it's always sounded that way.

I have headers, hi flow cat,and no mufflers.
I removed the mufflers to get louder before and I have not added any because I did not want to re add weight.
I'm sure I could add some to tone it down but,I'm use to it,and lighter is better for me.
Can't wait till I can get the regrinds in.
Then It will sound nasty at idle.
Did some more riding today and got 225 or so on the motor the car seam to like 80 on the highway were before it liked 70.
2nd and 3rd pulls like I was spraying before.

Today started driving a little more Agressive.
3.5k touching 4k here and there.
I was getting pinging around 3.5 so busted out the scanner because I'm waiting on a wideband.
And I was running pretty lean.
Bump the the fuel to 66psi and the pinging was gone.
went back out and the car spun the tires so easy and rev'ed quickly to 4.5k-5k.
Beter stop that till another oil change.

I can't even step on the gas in 2nd gear or the tires will just break loose like when I was spraying the 100 shot before.

Is the ecu just relearning the fuel pressure or something 66 seams high.
The car also seams like it could use alot more fuel full throttle.
probally need larger injectors.

Anyone know what the stock 3.7's are running for injector size?

Buy a 3rd gen TL fuel rail pair and run some rdx 410's. Otherwise your going to either pay some good money for injectors that actually fit your cl rails or have to modify 3.7L injectors to fit since they use a different seat/o-ring setup and require dremeling to fit.

Just so happens ive got a set of rails and larger injectors from a 3.5 mdx/ridgeline as well as their oem clips if you want to test it all out before going for 410's and Scion TC clips or clip adapters. Lmk

I did, Price was kinda crazy.
Most sets I've seen go for about half of what you were asking so I felt a little insulted and did not want to responed harshly.
We had recently had a good transaction so I did not want to give a insulted reply so I left it alone.
If in the future you want to make a resonable deal maybe we can work something out.
I just spent my extra $ today on a wideband + pod so maybe a week or so.

After doing some more driving I'm starting to think I need to retard the crank sensor some more.
This time started to get detonation at about 3800rpm WOT so adding the fuel pushed the detonation farther out but,I should not need no more 66psi.
I got 42.5 deg of timming now.Maybe I need to take it back to 40 deg.
I think I'm not going to drive it till the wideband shows up so I at least know what the air/fuel is first.

If you swap injectors, you will need a tune. Even if you run a CL-S ecu, it cant support the 410s.

Also, 66psi is pretty high. Get the car properly tuned asap before you blow the engine.

re did the crank sensor again using a camera to get in there to see the marks beter.
And came to realize when I was adjusting it today that after lining up the marks and redoing the air gap the marks would move more advance.
So when I thought I put it back before I actually put it to the same exact spot it was the first time.
It took a couple trys but using the cammera I got it back pretty good now I think.
I was getting 39-39.5 deg.
I also heard a whistling noise that sounded like a manifold gasket leak so I went over the valves today while taking a look at the gasket,Had about 4 looser one's out of the bunch the rest seamed just like how I set them.
Just got to put it back together with a new manifold gasket and do a oil change tommorow and everything should be great.

What are your plans for them ?
I just ordered a type s ecu/ign setup to help put my motor in check.
Can't wait till I get back to the cams.

Finally got hands on a type s ecu setup today.
Not that big of a deal to type s guys but, for me it will be like getting a half ass tune compared to running the clp ecu on this engine.
Going to slap it in tomorrow I hope.

There is no reason that I need to use a type s cluster is there ?

Not really, but it will give you an accurate redline and looks way better.

Off to get a battery.
Today I went to start the car after 2 weeks or so and the car battery so dead the remote would not even open the doors.
Jump it and drove about 10 minutes to the house and left it running for about 20.
Tried to restart and the dimmest lights ever on the dash.
Change ignition and ecu and jumped it again and ran it for a few to make sure the install was good.
Then no start again.

So I guess I will not be able to see how the type s ecu will handle the engine till tomorrow.

Slapped in the battery ,started right up and got a p1656 code I think that is because I have no vsa.
But, the car runs way beter and it really pulls now.
Feels like I gained atleast 20hp just from swaping to the type s ecu.
Sooooo happy now. This car is starting to get fast.

I don't want to really wail on the car the engine only has around 300 miles on it.

If I can get as much power as it did going to the type s ecu from the clp ecu ,I can't wait to get a tune of somesort.
I can hear supercharged m62's whistling behind me in the future.
