Modify your navigation system
Error msg?
has anyone tried to get in the system error history menu??
after getting in the dignostic menu you hold down on the menu button for 5 sec's and u get a developers menu(it has an error history, map color change, menu color change, mic level, and version info)
i have noticed alot of errors poping up in the error history after adding the start up pic mod and the clear nag screen mod should i be worried about this??

At risk of hijacking this thread, I just wanted to throw in my two cents about the navigation disc in our cars. I was one of the people in the TL forum who tried in vain to backup the disc.
For some reason, the car's DVD drive cannot read burnt DVD+R Dual Layer discs, regardless of its bitsetting. I tried setting it to DVD-ROM (so it's "seen" like a pressed disc) but that didn't make a difference.
The only thing I can think of is either the disc has some sort of encryption that I'm not aware of (like SafeDisc for games) or the drive simply cannot read burnt discs, whether it is due to the laser or firmware (most likely firmware).
Easy fix to this problem would be to replace the drive with something available on the market - I'm curious to see if this is doable. If someone tears apart their DVD drive, please let us know if it seems like an aftermarket drive could be used.
And back on topic - this is awesome - I always knew that you could change the image fairly easily, but to have a GUI designed for it is great.
I also second the comment earlier about keeping the "screensaver" function of the nag screen. I like how the screen shuts off when the user doesn't hit the OK button... if that functionality could somehow be retained (e.g., no nag, but if the user doesn't touch the screen for any reason it should go to screensaver mode) that would be fantastic.
Keep up the good work.

If you want blank fine, if you want a static image then you could do that, for me, I would love to have a custom trip computer where I get to lay out the clock, internal/external temp, compass, MPG, or any other vehicle data that was available.

Yeah, you have like 4 seconds to hit the load disc button before it reboots.
RUN!

Sorry, plenty of nicer cars, least in my day
I vote for Internet since it seems to be the most useful and can be incorporated along with the Navi. I don't know about everyone else, but I don't think I'll feel comfortable taking the Navi DVD out to play DVDs or MP3s and having to switch back and forth constantly. Not to mention having to go into the trunk to switch them. It also increases the chances of losing the maps or damaging the disc.

DVD?
etc.

I think the Navi DVD disc should naturally stay in the DVD drive...since it's so expensive to replace if damaged and we currently do not know how to create a "backup"
It would be great, for example, connecting a 20gb PC card harddrive to have an inventory of mp3s, movies files, pictures, etc...without placing a dvd and disabling the navigation.

I would mostly use it for email. Maybe to read news, check stocks, and forums.

Access acurazine ???
What if you can use the blue-tooth feature of the TL or TSX and use that connection to hook up your internet ready blur-tooth phone to the navigation system so that you can surf the web? Yeah, you could just surf the web on your cell phone, but it would be cool to use the "desktop" feature of the navi screen mod. Oh, I vouch for being able to watch dvds on the navi. In Europe, I drove a Peugot 6?? that had navi and a screen (like the set-up screen 1, 2, 3,4 on the TL/TSX) that actually allowed you to watch a movie by hooking up a portable dvd/mp3 player to the audio/video jacks in the glove box.
Of course I would only watch when the car is parked and stationary.
Again, Bysin, you da man.

(of course, they fantasize about the TSX as they get to 60 in 5.7 seconds!
