Yeah I've got lag (file size 113,068). I'm hunting around for the tips to reduce the image size. The pic is from the Acura website, maybe it's got one for the TL?

helluva job! A couple of questions :
- can you tell from the code what other "hidden" keystrokes might be available from the head unit?
- on the TL version there is a trip/mileage indicator that is greyed out in one of the hidden menus. Is there a way to un-NOP this? Is it possible to tell whether or not the code is even in the TL version?
- can you tell if there's a way to force the unit to reinstall from the DVD, like a soft reboot?

thanks!!

I believe that bysin can only test TSX..but if you send him the TL Navi BIN (or extract its contents) he might have a better chance.. But remember, he's pretty with this projects, and we're throwing all these extra "options" left and right at him

Which file did you load into the program? Very strange, wonder why it keeps on saying my car isn't supported when I try to do the patch on it.

Hey bysin, when I extract my bin file I looked inside and I have an Opening.exe I was wondering if you knew what it was. Could it be the nag screen, maybe navi.exe calls it? Seems like it could be it since its fairly small in size.

hey dude, just cut a very thin piece off of a side. it will reduce the size and the nav should automatically stretch the picture so that there are no empty spots

Has anyone had any luck loading from the pc card (pcmcia) slot? I tried putting all of the bin files in the root of an otherwise-empty fat-formatted (not fat32) 1gig flash card (CF in an adapter) and tried the Card Load button but I got an ATA Card Read Error.

I tried the Star Trek screen (OK, so I'm a geek). Although it is exactly the same dimensions and file size as the original file, there's a long delay before it appears, as though the image were compressed. What did I do wrong?

First, thanks Bysin, donation sent.

Second, the "Go" button has got to go. I agree with a previous poster, it's definitely less safe to try to hit that damn thing as I screech out of the driveway. Default boot to map or music, that would be sweet.

Third, how about the Pilot/MDX? Anyone tried one of those bad boys yet?

MDX owner here thanks for what you have so far!

I don't know if this applies to the TSX, but another thing I would like to get rid of is the "Entering unverified area" alert. Both the audible and the dialog box.

Keep working on getting the noop to bypass the OK on startup but please be thinking about this one too.

Here's another Photoshop tip. Once you have an image at 480x234 (or another 2.051 AR resolution), it should look stretched horizontally. If you want to preview how it will look on the navi screen once it is squeezed back to a 16:9 physical AR, go to Image->Pixel Aspect Ratio and create a custom pixel aspect ratio with a factor of 0.867. Then select that new pixel AR to see how it would look on the navi. To go back to "normal", go back to a Square Pixel AR.

About to go try it... quick question first:

Does this process (or the reset process if things go south) erase personal address entries?

no idea Mega, i know that disconnecting the battery doesn't affect the personal adresses, but beyond that i dont know

bysin- whats up as of now? are you trying to edit the text on the nag screen or still to remove it completely?

Thanks, if the battery doesn't reset it, then I'm betting the process doesn't either, so I'm gonna do this tonight.

To answer your question, maybe you missed this post, but here is the latest from Bysin on the no-nag:

So while I was attempting to remove the nag screen I ran into a few problems. I'm releasing a new version of dumpnavi GUI (1.2) that allows you to remove all the text, instead of the nag screen it'll just be a blank screen with a "GO" button.

http://www.linuxkiddies.com/bysin/navi/
From this description I assume the "OK" button is still there which is what I am interested in removing. I don't mind the nag text, I just wish it would boot up all the way without hitting OK first. But I'm happy that Bysin's making progress. Thanks dude!

I did it and it worked like a champ.

Here is my background (feel free to steal it):

I used 475x234 trick to keep the color depth at 256 and still keep the size down so there is no delay.

The no-nag mod is just exactly what Bysin describes. Basically you see a black screen for the same duration you would normally see the disclaimer, and then a "Go" button appears in the same location the "OK" button used to appear.

BTW, here is the source image for my new background: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/5256/

Thanks to daniel1113 for posting the vector Acura logo.

Special thanks to Bysin for making this possible.

So is anyone going to be daring enough to leave a custom image installed when taking your car into the dealership for service? I'd hate to have my VIN flagged in some master database as "navi warranty void -- customer altered/tampered with unit"

Altho it could be funny to install some sort of error screen or the BSOD so they think they broke it and spend time trying to fix it

If I were Honda

If I were a Honda marketing drone or interface engineer, I'd be watching this thread. This might just be a trend in the making.

i took the car in for 2nd gear recall service yesterday. The guy at the dealership lot said that it was pretty cool to have your own logo come up.

To anyone that can answer this:
Does it still lag if you have less than 113,068 bytes? Like what if you had 112,918 bytes?

Here's a knock-off of the CIA one:

No.. It erases your radio presets though, and you gotta type in your radio code again.. I've had to hard reset my navi too many times to count. But all your addresses will still be there.

I'm not sure it would void any warrenty. Your not modifying the hardware, just flash memory.

Can someone help me get the no nag to work with my bin file please, I've tried a lot of different things but it still isn't working for some reason. I just load my bin file and hit modify but I keep on getting the your car is not supported message. Doesn't seem like anyone else is having a problem???
