Modify your navigation system
I hear you, but I don't got photoshop, and on the Matrix one, since it's already black background, u can't tell, I ddin't take off all 5 on one side, i took 2 off of the left, and 3 of the right
It does sound pretty stupid, but nothing else worked for me,so I'm sticking to this.

The instructions say there are 9 .BIN files. When I open my Nav disc I only see 6. The ones I don't see are:
BN2HN380.BIN
BNHH401A.BIN
BNHN404A.BIN
My loading file is BN2HN18B.BIN.......
Is that normal, or do some of you have 6 as well?

What you typed above is different from the readme.txt:
dumpnavi BNHNxxxx.BIN update Back.bmp
Anyway I have the CUSTOM Back.bmp in the SAME PATH as dumpnavi .exe
so I did:
c:\temp\navi-console> dumpnavi [mycar'sbin] update Back.bmp
This right ?
thanks
I just corrected all the .bmps on my website. They all fit without compression (aka, no delay).

in about 10 minutes it will be working
You can use the updated matrix one from my site.. It's 113066 bytes, oh and the new version of the GUI allows a variable width x height size (within reason).

THis is what I did *You don't need PHotoshop for this, Paint will do*
Just reduce the size to 475x234x8 and use dumpnavi console (not the GUI version because it doesn't allow the 475x234 size)
I did this on the Matrix logo and it worked like a charm, you can't even tell it was smaller especially with the way the image was
Good luck everyone, hopefully this should help some people. So my new filesize was 112,462. This is also good because u get to have 256 colors instead of 173
SO I guess it's all about file size, if it's equal to or less than 113,068 you're good
TIme to make a few more CD's with backgrounds for whenever I get bored or for every other week =)) Bysin keep up the great work brotha.
P.S. THe Navi no Nag temp fix u put out doesn't work on my 03 Accord, says can't not mod your navi, so I'm guessing it's just for TSX for now. Peace

See, there's a problem with this.
I righ clicked on the Matrix one bysin said he fixed, it says 113,066
BUT when you save it onto ur computer, it changes it 113,398
This is why I did it my way by changing it to 476x234, it puts it as 112,462 and I promise u can't even tell the difference, I dunno whatever, hopefully those pics work for others, I know it didn't work for me.

I'm releasing a new version of dumpnavi GUI (1.2) that allows you to remove all the text, instead of the nag screen it'll just be a blank screen with a "GO" button.

change disclamier
ya changing the disclamer text woudl be nicer than having the blank screen but hte blank screen works thanx bysin, althouhg it looks scary when its blank makes u think for a sec that the system isnt working till u get the ok button to appear
Since the navi needs to load a bunch of files (ie, there will be a delay anyway), I just assume leave the warning. However, it would be neat to have the startup image stay up until one hits the OK button. The 5 second startup time isn't enough to marvel at my artwork
Saleen S7 looks like a bat mobile.

Here are a couple more fun ones for you.
This one will make having to press OK on the nag screen seem kind of fun:
...and this one is for all you Star Trek geeks out there:
I'm definitely going with the CIA one...

Could be because Macs save a resource fork as well as the file fork. There are utilities that will strip the resource fork out like GrimRipper. I tried, and it made the file go from 147k to 80k, although the resolution is still the same. No guarantee's when you start stripping things from files, but it may be worth a try if you can't do it on a PC (I am a Mac guy too, but luckily I have a PC at home). Good Luck.

Anyway, I've created a custom image and save it according to the steps listed many times above… the file size was "huge". I did find a Preference to embed a preview of the image. When I shut off this option, the file size is only bloated a little bit now (127,884). In fact, I took the original image, saved it out as a copy, and it is larger than the original.
I am a PC user and attempting to use Photoshop on a Mac in our office. It is PS 7.0.
Does anyone know what else might be in the file that is increasing its size?

Ben,
Splash image changed. Thank you.
Now just curious - what's the point of extracting the BIN file ?
Cause your hack DIRECTLY updates the BIN file.
i guess that is only needed if you want to mess with the code right ?
