:surrenderYou swear you at least read bysin's posts up to page 10 ?

Read the following posts:

Now my only question is why the delay?? When I turn the car on before the pic shows up instantly. The file is only 111KB, so its not that big. Did we get a fix for this and I missed it?

Do you know how the Tiger version of OSX boot looks like ?
I'd love to have a Tiger version if you can fake one.
My 04 MDX uses BN2HH110.BIN. I'm using DumpNavi.exe Version 1.5 (according to the "about" screen). I am running it against an unmodified BIN file. It insists that Nag modifications aren't supported for my car. I have been successful in modifying the boot image, but not the nag screen.
Bysin, i ask you a simple favor. To make it easier for myself, and probably anyone new to this thread who has problems finding this stuff in the threads to post on your website, the picture requirements for the *.BMP file. Like File size, color, pixels, bit rate or anything that would help us noob's out. I as well as many of us would greatly appreciate it.
480x234
273 colors
8-bit BMP
No larger than 113,068 bytes
You can make the image smaller than 480x234 pixels, or with less than 273 colors, if needed.
The image must also be adjusted for non-square pixels, as originally posted by Arcticcl9:

...you'll need to "compensate" for the aspect ratio of the image at 480 x 234. To help you guys make an image that is not stretched out of shape, first create an image that has a 16:9 aspect ratio. Then increase the width of the image by 1.154 (115.4%) while leaving the height the same, then downsample it to fit in 480 x 234, 8 bit indexed color and you will have an image that would work for the background.

ummm sure about that ???
For Accord Owners
Ok, I have a Honda Accord with Navi. I used Bysin's GUI program and was able to modify my startup and remove the NAG screen, but here are a few things that were not on the money so to speak:
1. Make a backup of the BIN you copy from your DVD, once modified you will not be able to modify it again as the GUI program will state the BIN is not supported or something to that effect.
2. When they say RUN they mean it!!! I would help to have two people, one to load the new created disc and one by the Navi. to hit load disc.
3. I did NOT have to close the cover or open the cover on the DVD Nav in the trunk, to be honest I would not have had time.
Maybe their are a few different ways to update and Bysin had the best luck the way he stated in the readme file.
Hope this helps some people with issues. Again I am NOT saying anything that anyone has said is wrong, just what I have tested and seen.

My first few times around I could not get it to work and then only the photo would show up with the nag screen. I finally figured out how to change what bysin had said to work for my car. Maybe it was dumb luck or maybe accords have to be hacked differently.
Someone said its not possible

BTW: Only at night do you see how cool the photo is, during daytime it is to dark, thinking about changing it to something different.
Also my dealer has seen the screen, (by accident) and wanted to know if they could start selling accords with the hook of being able to personalize your screen. Had to tell him not yet, that is was a hack.

For all of you who are wondering if this will work on the 2nd gen CL/TL navi, it will not ...
The 2nd gens use a completely different architecture (NEC V831) -- and while its possible that a similar thing could be done with those units, it will be much more difficult (since the V83x architecure is much less documented than the SH4, not to mention it was much less popular commercially)
Here's a picture of the 2nd gen circuit board, if you're still not convinced...

But I don't see useful aplication for this feature until we will be able to write our own code.
I think you could be the guy I am looking for. Most visitors of this forum know nothing about progamming, so nobody could help me.
What I have at this moment.
I can do the same things with *.bin that you can do and even more.
I disassembled almost completely Windows CE kernel and most of drivers.
I am implementing SH-4 emulator and trying to simulate devices. It is a very hard work but I have a some progress: Windows CE is loaded, start processes, initializes drivers. Currently it stops when it tries to work with flash (drf.dll). I stuck on it because I have know idea how it should work. I am waiting for inspiration to break through it.
If you intresting in combining our forces you will be wellcome.
I hate this innovation in new forum tha I can edit my own message!
I am not fluent in English and it is difficult to me to write everything at once.
I just want to add that I can resize blocks. My tool does it. But I still think that it is dangerous and useless feature for now.

Up to now, we weren't able to make backups of the Navi disc as a permanent replacement. Uploading the BIN file which stays in the navi system's ROM isn't a problem cuz the disc doesn't need to stay in.

You can buy 512M or even 1G CF card and PC Card<->CF adapter.
So the space is not a problem.
The real problems:
- How to start your own code.
- How to test it before try it on real navi.
I am working on it but it is very complex problems. Ok, starting some exe is not a problem but we don't have a keyboard. So we have to create our own dialogs and somehow bind it on some buttons.
