Ask me why.

I went the same way earlier.

There are thousands of Acura and Honda users with Navi. This thread was known widely. I saw it. A very hot topic. Still it died. WTF? What became of Bysin? Why didn't he say he was leaving? Why didn't he at least tell how far he got? WTF???

This sucks the big green one.

Well, if you read the first post again, initially he said that he already had a nag screen removal for the TSX navi. He didnt want to post it because he wasnt sure of copyright infringments. Eventually he changed his mind about it, but we never saw the actual fix for it. So, that leads me to say that he was never able to hack it in the first place, and after trying for quite sometime, maybe gave up on it??

I think its safe to say that we all support you bysin if you still read this. Maybe give us some insight into some of the technical problems your facing trying to get the nag screen removed? Not all of us will understand it, but the few that do might be able to give you a different approach to try out...

No Running Involved

All, I'm not sure why any of you are running to hit the "Load Disc" button... Just load in the new CD you burned and let the system restart. It'll only get so far before it tells you that it cannot start correctly. Then just follow the same steps to get back to the "Load Disc" screen as you did earlier. It's really not that difficult...

Possibly, there were some crazy idea. But he did ask and was headed down what sounded like a pretty crazy path himself - IE before just getting rid of the darn nag!

Maybe bysin is in college and has finals or something, who knows folks!

The initial work is still a nice resource, perhaps someday bysin will be back or someone else will figure out how to hack the nag screen.

I have to say that it is not so crazy. Adding IE is easier than removing nag because navi initializing in background and we have to wait when it finishes. It can be done but it is not just replacing one jump to nop. I decided that it does not worth spent time.
Actually as far as I see I am far ahead him in understanding navi.
For example, I know how to instruct navi to start your program after reboot. The question is what we going to start. Maybe starting IE isn't so bad idea. But I don' see any way to start it when you want because we don't have input devices. As result we have to write our own dialog that isn't easy.

I think the main thing isn't so much removing the nag screen (altho just leaving the splash image up in place of displaying the nagscreen text sure would be nice), but just not requiring the OK button to be pushed to dismiss it once the navi app is loaded and initialized and ready to display the map.

So as far as what additional program to start... how about one that watches for that nag dialog's OK button to be displayed and sending it a button-press event :-) probably not super easy, but perhaps easier than editing the navi.exe binary for someone familiar with the win ce api and capable of crosscompiling for the navi environment.

And yes, I did just restate the obvious, contributing nothing to the ever-growing thread. why stop now

Okay, besides the obvious nag issue, here's my dream. I don't need a car shaped laptop that I sit in. A slow one too. Forget games and Excel. No, I want the PCMCIA card slot to talk to an 802.11G card so I can drive around and read my email at the same time. That's what I want.

Bysin, I see you were here at 6:55PM yesterday. You did ask for our input. Why have you forsaken us o' Lord of Navi?

I think this is the KEY FEATURE we're all looking for in the short-term. The problem is, it's an application feature, not just text that can be remove/replaced in a hex editor. So, it's likely going to require someone to gain access to the code, not just a hex editor.

When I modify my nav I will use this for the screen.

Glass half full huh? I hope you're right. I hope the kid's about to drop the bomb of all bombs on us. I hope he gets his PhD from all the research he's doing like Xbox Bunny Wong did. I hope Japan knights him for it. I hope Paris Hilton wants him to "mod" her Acura. I hope unexpected tachyon radiation from the altered navi computer gives him powers far beyond those of mortal drivers and he kicks Galactus's ass. I hope I hope.

In the mean time has *any* Accord owner had luck removing the nag screen? I'm getting "not supported".

That post does not say was that US Accord or Euro.
I've tried program with '03 and '04 US Accords and they both are not supported.

Well maybe not clear to you as you just posted your first post.

It was an American 04 Accord using the 120 BIN file that wasn't supported. FYI.

Maybe it's because I am just slow

I still don't get what should I try? GUI app says it's not supported and I'm not that smart to understand that "HEX editor+0900h hint"

AK, good job. Looks like you are the one that deserves the credit. No idea why this thread took off and yours didn't. Sometimes the name of thread means the difference between life and death

Keep it up and hopefully you and Bysin can get together and get even further. PM him if you haven't already.

This is awesome. I came up with a bunch of backs that I like and have a few discs I'll keep in my car for changeouts. Screw it, I'm taking it into the dealership like this.. I'd like to see them say something about it.

If anyone's in the Charlotte, NC area and wants help w/ this let me know!

You read this thread. This question has been answered at least a dozen times.
