When I go in for my oil change soon, will this like do anything to my warranty and such? Like will they do something for changing with the navi? Sorry if that sounds stupid...

it keeps going, and going

This has got to be the longest-running forum thread of all time. I think I first posted in this thread months ago...

No, I don't have anything further to add. Already got my navi mods working

I have an '05 TL. I am (within reason) computer savvy. I am having some small problems. When I use the GUI NaviDump to try and modify the nag screen then it says an error saying "unable to open file s2mc.1" "Error extracting files in the BIN". Not really sure why this is. I have used the console version to extract and it goes fine however I cant get the nonag to work in the console. I would LOVE to get rid of that damned screen. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

it doesnt really get rid of the screen anyway... it just removes the text. you still have to wait for it and still have to hit the button.

Edit Nag Screen or remove nag delay?

Great stuff. Has anyone figured out how to eliminate the waiting period before you can use the Nav? At least it's blank now, but it'd be nice not to have to wait.

If we do have to wait, how about editing the nag screen? I'd love to be able to write my own text in there if I have to wait anyway.

Help

Hello, I have read through all the pages. Looks like Bysin's site is no longer. Does anyone have a copy of the program (the so called easy version) that you could send to me? I would like to do the modification but can't find out where to dowload it. Thanks in advance.

Wow, at startup, the picture goes away and my navi goes to the screen that says the words, but the "OK" or "GO" button never appears. I cannot get to use navi at all because the "OK" button never comes, and I can't push it to get navi. After about three minutes, it says on the screen "DVD read error, consult your dealer" or some message similar to that. I forget exactly what it says. I only took my original DVD out one time to swap the CD-R in to load my custom bmp and get rid of the nag words, so it is not scratched up from that one time. And, other than that, I haven't done anything to the navi. It was working for a good six months with the different bmp and nag words gone, but now all the sudden, the "GO" button does not appear anymore. I took the negative off my battery, and that reset the system and it loaded the original navi DVD. But, it behaves exactly the same, the "OK" button never comes. Anyone else have that did this navi mod have this same problem?

6 months really ?

So re-boot from OEM disc did NOT restore the [OK] button ? that's not good.
Hmm maybe bysin coded it that way :
..if month_run => 6 {
fuck_them_up = true ;
......
}

To quote the original post:
"18. If anything goes wrong, remove the ground to the battery for 30 seconds with the origional DVD in the car. The old OS will load back on the system."
And of course, first thing to do is to go over the steps one by one and be sure you're not missing something (a common thing to do).

Ok, I too have read the whole thread. And maybe it was because i was going numb, but, is there a new mirror or link? I can't find a working one, let alone all the sample pics you all have made for your splash screen. Sorry that it sounds repetitious.

Thanks heads.

In my post, you will see that I said I already tried that:
I took the negative off my battery, and that reset the system and it loaded the original navi DVD. But, it behaves exactly the same, the "OK" button never comes.
Thank you.

Hey guys, this is one of my first posts, but I've followed the forums here for quite a while. If someone has the original navi.zip file from bysin, please send it my way. I am curious to see his code. Thx. (panderon@gmail)

Glad to see another game developer on here! Do you work at Crystal?
Which part of the game are you working on? Art, Code, Design... ?

Hehe... I haven't been around in forever.

I'm just catching up on the Navi items -- read through most of this thread and several others.

Two questions for you guys:

1) My main interest in hacking my Navi at this point would be to ease the startup. From what I've been able to read here, it sounds like the nonag hack just gets rid of the disclaimer screen, but you still have to click OK. Is there some other reason that this particular hack is worthwhile? The OK part seems far more annoying than the disclaimer.

2) I pulled down the re-linked console version of the fix, but that doesn't have the nonag support. Could someone point me at the nonag fix and/or the GUI version of the utility? The email in my profile should work.

Thanks!

The only thing it does is remove the text, and chage "OK" to "GO". Just like you, I was hoping to get rid of the OK/GO procedure altogether, but thus far, nobody has figured that out. So really there is no reason to run the "nonag" unless the text itself bothers you. In some ways, I liked the text better. Now if I'm not paying good attention, I'll look at the screen, and think it's already timed out, but it hasn't... it's still displaying the non-existent disclaimer waiting for "GO" to appear. So next time I'm bored, I'm going to re-do mine adding the disclaimer back, and only changing the wallpaper.
