Bysin, Thank you for taking your time to bother with this. I hope that when I pick up my 06 TSX in a few that I'll be able to get this to work.
Btw I enjoyed reading your posts, But to be honest I did not understand most of the computer stuff...
Now here is my question.
Is there anyone in the NYC area that has done this succesfully and would be willing to do this for me in the near future? A donation of  or money will be offered.
(I'll have images ready to go but on CD)

Re-download the dumpnavi and put it in the same folder as all of the Navi-DVD files.

The image I created was 476x234, 256 color, 72dpi bitmap. Name it Back.bmp
Put that in the same folder with the Dumpnavi and bin files.
Check out what bin file your Navi uses: Turn on the car, hold Map, Menu and Cancel for a few seconds. Press Version and hold Menu again for a few seconds. Copy the Program File.bin name.
Load that bin file into DumpNavi. Uncheck Modiy Nag and load the image.
Burn the 9 bin files on a cd. I was unable to use an erasable CD and even cheap media. Had to use Verbatim.
Put the CD in, when you see the disc error, hold Map, Menu and Cancel. Go to Version and press Disc Load.
You'll see the status screen and 30 seconds later your pic will load. Once it is done, you'll get the error message again. Go ahead and put the Navi DVD in.

I started at 3pm today, and it's up and running at 3:30pm! I love this thing!
Does anyone know how to add a background to the nag screen? Right now it's just black for a few seconds. Then a Go button appears.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Jay

I'm so rude... sorry... Special thanks to Bysin for making this possible!
You Rock!
Thought I'd throw my hat in the ring.
I'm experienced monstly in x86 debugging/'cracking'. I've removed nags and whatnot from many programs and have good experience with assembly modification.
I have to agree with bysin that removing the nag screen from the navi would be exceedingly difficult if background tasks are executing at the same time.
It seems bysin has exited from the scene since April and his site no longer works. Earlier in this thread he posted a link to the disassembled ASM (which is now down) of NAVI.EXE.
I have a copy of IDA, but my license doesn't allow me to work on SH4 compiled executables.
I'll be willing to help if I can get the tools.

The 06 NAVI is supposed to have faster processor speed and bootup. Has anyone tried this modification on the newer setup? I dont have my 06 TSX yet to try it out.

What about the "OK" button
There's been talk about the nag screen, it's name speaks for itself, has anyone figured out how to automatically select OK without having to touch the screen?

Does this work on Ody's
Anyone try or know if this works on the Honda Odyssey? I tried last night and couldn't get to the part where you verify which file the navi loads first. This is the part after you get into the system menu, hit the version button, then hold the menu button until a message saying "loading (filename)" appears. It never appears. Any clues?

Hey I am in the same boat as you, I am stuck on step 4.
DumpNavi bysin
Hey peeps, whats up. Well I got the whole Dump Navi program, but on the instructions in the very begining of this thread. It says at the main screen to push map/guide, menu, & cancel buttons for 5 secs. Well what is considered the main screen? The screen where the earth picture comes up when the navi starts up, or the nag screen, or the menu screen where you choose your destinations? By the way will this even work on the 03 TL's cause thats what I have. Thanks Guys.

The site is back up.. I'm working on making a linux port of the navigation system. It might only work for the TSX intially until i can test it out on a TL. But anyway, my ported version should be a lot more graphical then the one that comes with the navi, and a lot more customizable.. I would also use opensource GIS information (instead of navtech data), so I could give free map updates (i think $100 is a little too much, acura).

Bysin, that is EXCELLENT to hear.. It sounds like you are really on top of things. I will definetly give that a try as soon as it's ready. One other interesting feature would be a plugin interface, that way we could load stuff from the DVD drive into memory of the NAVI. Such as a recipe database, so that we could keep recipe information in the navigation system for those trips to the store! Right now I use my home theater pc for all my recipe needs, but I can't print from it and it doesn't have a modem installled.
Keep up the good work!!

Fuck that, can you get the navi system to MAKE said recipes?

Cant wait to try this out Bysin. Glad your still working on it...
Hey Bysin,
Glad to see you back! Would the Linux port still have voice-control functionality? Sounds like a huge endeavour to me, but I'm guessing you'll be modifying an existing open-source navigation package. If you need help, I know my way around Linux and could help you out with test builds on a 3rd-gen TL which is what I have. I'm not worried about frying my system since I know the firmware can always be restored from the original DVD disk. Looking forward to seeing this and/or helping you out.

Is it just me or did the site go down again? Just my luck, I suppose.
In any case, thanks for the tools, bysin. I have a question that perhaps you could answer... is this system the same (or similar) to the MS Windows CE "Alpine" development system with the same Hitachi SH4? I've been lesiurely reading up on Dreamcast hacking and I don't seem to be finding much that will help me directly, though I'm sure I'd be a bit more hardcore about it if I got a Dreamcast. Do you know of any docs that could help someone familiarize him/herself with this system? I just spent the last week acquiring the MS tools that may have been used to build the navi, though perhaps that was unnecessary since you seem to have everything working from linux. I prefer to use my Mac over the windows box, but at this point I'll put up with it for sweet sweet navi hax. =)
Cheers,
inca

Bysin.......was wondering if you knew anything about the PC slot on the navigation dvd player....the new civic 06 have PC slot and function on the navigation to read a PC card adaptor which could essentially hold files like mp3s......i was wondering if you new a way to make the pc slot functional on the navigations before 06....i have a 03 accord with navi and it has the pc slot but the navigation doesn't know what to do with it when you put something in there........the pc slot is basically the same cardbus slot you see on your laptop.........your navidump program is really awesome and thanks for hooking us all up
