Are you answering a question (if so which one ?)
or just making a statement ? are you referencing another post ?

or are you talking about the PC Card slot in the front of the navi unit ? (which we ALL know about)

Ridgeline Cam

Okay, my view is that if you can get the Ridgeline Cam to work then you can splice into it's wiring and get any video signal you want to come through.

Main Question: Reading the Ridgeline rearview cam install instructions shows that you just hook up the 6 pin connector to the Navi and it works in Reverse. HOW DOES THE NAVI KNOW YOU ARE IN REVERSE TO DECIDE TO SWITCH TO THE CAM MODE? Is it built into the Navi already in every car or just those that have optional cameras? If it always knows then we can just use the 6 pin connector and it should work.

There is a sensor that detects when you are in reverse. The same one that tells the white reverse lights to come on. How intertwined are the systems? Get me the maintenance manual and I can tell you.

I know about the reverse sensor but do you know if they are actually intertwined at all?

When I tried the combination 'Map', 'Menu' and 'Cancel' buttons simultaneously generally nothing happens, but twice I got it to put me in the hidden menu.

Is there some sort of a trick to the key combination, or maybe the car doesnt like me.

2004 Pilot. First I thought it was a different system, but it occasionally lets me in.

Thumbs up Source code

For all those thousands you guys are willing to shell out for buying a navi unit, we could hire a detective or industrial spy to track down the supplier of these units, then get his hands on the entire source code and documentation. At such point, things like removing the nag screen and changing startup bitmaps will be obsolete minor improvements. Think of all the possibilities of reprogramming the system...
MP3 discs, anyone? Custom voice commands? An improved HandsFreeLink? Track info display in the audio? How about some tetris or solitaire (only in Park of course )?

Bysin, do you know for the TSX if the software drivers/programs for the backup camera are there for just the '06 navi or also the '05 and ealier navi? The Ridgeline navi looks like the newer nav system, correct?

For anyone interested here's the install doc for the Ridgeline backup camera part:

Question Noob Alert!!!

I own a 06 EX Civic w/ navi and i heard about the mods that could be done just last night, as a noob i was over-joyed to hear that you couldnt mess it up because everything was "undoable"

however to my dismay, after reading the readme file i found that where it called for me to "Write down the filename next to the words "Loading Filename" (ex. BNHN404A.BIN)." i do not have this on any of the 3 pgs

Also i only have 3 Bin files not 9 like the readme states, they are like 400+ MB not 104 and none could be modified with any of the tool bysin has posted.....what the heck am i doing wrong??? or rather what do i have to do differently?

I too have an 06 Honda Civic EX, and I have no problem helping anyone out on the Background mod... for I have a couple of disks already made to do such a change. Get ahold of me, and I can possibly make custom disks for ya. And if anyone can help in the procces of getting rid of the NAG screen, that would be great!!!

its not going to require my bank acct information is it? lol

on a serious note, if your not selling it you might want to consider posting it up somewhere or providing how-to info so others can follow in your foot steps. i'm sure i'm not the only one who is going to want it......

let me know if thats possible

I just did the 06 navi hack on the TSX just follow the instructions on this website http://guicide.com/cars/2006civic/nav/hacks/ one more thing for the startup screen on the TSX its not Opening1.bmp its Opening3.bmp. And also the files that you use for the TSX is 06Touch2.bin

Unhappy either i really suck or something isnt workign right....(maybe both)

I'M A NOOB and a bad one at that. I must make this clear because I know i'm about to ask some questions that to most would sound stupid! However i want to be cool like you guys so i'm trying to learn! now that i got that out of the way, here we go...

http://guicide.com/cars/2006civic/nav/hacks/

i went here and DLed all four items

i then read "The files you need on your disc are:" i copyed all to a new folder on my desktop, i thought ok this is not bad

then i came across "Copy 06AVN2.BIN, BYSIN.EXE and CECompressv4.dll to a directory" what is a directory?!?!? yes i know its something simple but i am not sure.....is a directory a new folder or something?

I assumed it was an copied all 3 files into a new folder within the new folder i had created

then it said "Use bysin.exe to extract Opening1.bmp from 06avn2.bin" ok here's where it gets bad for me....everytime i double click on bysin.exe i get a small black box appear on my screen for .002 of a second and then disappears. how do i do this? or atleast how do i keep it open long enough to see what it is.....

i'm sure i will have trouble in the upcoming steps however at the present time i'm stuck here! PLEASE HELPPPPPPP

when it says directory it means a new folder and also about the bysin.exe you have to extract and update the files throught the command prompt which can be found in start, all programs, accessories and command prompt. Search yahoo to figure out how to use command promopts it not to hard. If you have a tsx the file name is 06Touch2.bin not 06AVN.bin.

Backup DVD disc

I started reading from page 1 up to page 15 and noticed a lot of people asking how to make a backup of the DVD disc. I successfully made my first backup almost 2 years ago, I guess I was fortunate in having a lot of experience with movies and software. I have made backups of the following NAV discs, 02 TL, 03 TL, and the latest DVD for 03TL that came out a few months ago which is now DVD +DL., I have an image of an 06 TL from a loaner I had but did not load it in another car to see if it worked, I am 99% positive that it would work. The following are software tools needed to perform this: DVD Decrypter, and DiskJuggler. Use DisckJuggler to create an ISO image of the disk, the reason I use DiskJuggler is because of how it does a sector by sector image of the disk and does not care about copy right protected media, if you use any other program than Diskjuggler then this may not work for you. Once the image file is created on your hard drive, open DVD Decrypter, go to Mode, ISO, Write. Then select the ISO image file you created, put the appropriate disk in your DVD burner and burn it back. If it is more than 4.5 GB you will need to use a DVD+R DL disk, if it is 4.5 GB or less you can use a standard DVD+R.
FYI for those of you interested you can order the latest disk from Alpine, they have a 30 day money back guarantee, so if you for some reason decided you did not like the disk you can return it for a full refund minus shipping.

mp3addicted,

That's very useful info if only for us to do some testing... I hope it works with the 3rd gen TL Navi disc format (same as 04-06 TSX format). Someone needs to restart this thread and summarize all the important points.

Backup disk

Like I said, I have a 2003 TL (3rd Gen) up untill I ordered the latest disk they were on standard DVD+R discs, the new one is around 6 or 7 GB, it includes new features like, routing, maps, verified and unverified routing, and best of all a new voice! Before I put the new version disc in the car I did a backup and loaded the backup, the Navi system does a complete upgrade and takes about 5 minutes to copy over the new files and features, I have been running on the backup for a couple months now. The one thing I forgot to mention is that when you burn it back to the DL disk make sure you set the speed to lowest possible to provide a deep burn and so the Navi system can read it without any issues, I burned at 2.4X. Good luck and hope this helps quite a few out there. I totaled my 2002 TL and was glad that I had a backup in the drive because I was not able to recover any of my belongings out of the CD changer or the DVD in the trunk. The origional disk cost me $12 in shipping fees, would have sucked to have to go through all that again.

I don't want to be a pain, but the 2003 TL is 2nd Gen. The 3rd gen TL debuted in model year 2004.

You posted before I could make the correction, my current is 03 2nd Gen, I have a copy of 3rd gen but need to find someone that has one with Navi to test the disk, I am pretty sure it will not be a problem.

If that's the case, other navi discs will also be copyable. Is anyone willing to image a 2006 TSX disc
