Please forgive me if this was already addressed in the past, but this thread is super bloated lol.
I have an '04 navi with disk version 3.60 (latest as of December '06), and I'm trying to remove the no-nag screen. I downloaded the GUI version of the utility, and when trying to apply the no-nag fix, it gives me the message "Nag modification isn't supported on your car".
Is it really true?!

I finally got around to pulling my navi dvd to hack it. I don't know if i have an old version of bysin's program, but mine seems to crash often.
Also, does anyone know which file contains the nag screen for the 06? I don't have any of the files bysin mentioned for the 04/05...holding the menu button for 5 seconds doesn't display which file it's loading...a screen just instantly displays showing various settings
Instead of reading 56 pages, I need a recap so I don't have to learn stuff that has been found out already. I want to try to and get through all the code and see if i can make the nag screen go by without me having to press on go... (ie: i don't want to just blank out the nag screen)
I don't care about the splash screen...I just want to kill the nag screen =(

bypass the nag screen ok
This appears to be an easy fix; just buy and install the module. About $45 plus under an hour install. This may work for folks who are handier with a soldering iron than a computer.

Click on products,
Click on Navigation “OK” bypass (Standard) appears appropriate for the 06 TSX; I’m unclear on other models.
I do not have personal experience; I got the lead from another forum.

"The KPtechnologies Nav 'OK' bypass is intended for vehicles with physical buttons that can be pushed, it will NOT work on touch screens! Sorry!
Our navi bypass module is not for the average DIYer. Finding the correct points on a circuit board can be overwhelming, especially if component level work has not been done before.
I would love to give it a shot. If you can find a TSX owner with Navi within 120 miles of Dayton, Ohio I'll work something out with them, and I'll post pics when its done!
Thanks!"

I think the KP Technologies thing works on our cars. You can press down on the joystick when the "OK' button appears. The module just waits on a timer and then "presses" the button for you after an elapsed time. It doesn't get rid of the nag screen...it just pushes the "OK" button.
If no one has done the 06 yet, I guess I'll have to start from scratch...unless someone has already done that and stated that it can't be done....

For some of the newer DVD's, the splash screen is no longer Opening1.bmp. Instead, as in my car, the opening screen is comprised of 3 different BMP's- "OpeningBase.bmp", "Navi_title.bmp", and "Acura_emblem.bmp"
So if you've tried to update your splash screen and it didn't change the pic, this is most likely your solution. IE, Instead of replacing Opening1.bmp, replace OpeningBase.bmp.

In any event I'd see if Honda Europe sells a DVD NAV reader (for under the drivers seat) that is a PAL DVD Reader and see if you can just unplug the US specification (NTSC) and plug in the Euro PAL DVD reader. Please keep me advised of any success you have so I can get my NAV system up as soon as I get there. I'll be there for 3 years, so a Euro DVD Nav will be awesome for traveling around Europe. I recommend piking up a TomTom. The discontinued model can now be found for under $200 now on the net and maybe even in stores like Radio Shack.
This unit works really well, it's small and portable. It even has a walking mode, so if you are visiting some place in Europe and are walking around, you can use if you get lost walking around.
I had to work in Italy for a year and a half and I bought one in Italy for 300 Euros. Best 300 Euros I ever spent.
You just would have to buy the European maps. You can even by a bigger SD card and put both North America and Western Europe on one SD card.
If you can get the navi thing worked out great, but if you can't, you won't go wrong with the TomTom.
Now that I'm back in the states, I plan to use mine whenever I rent cars that don't have navi. It's that small and easy to use. It also gives you 2d maps which I think are easier to follow than the flat ones Honda uses.
Good luk and you will enjoy Europe.

Sorry I got lost in this jungle of posts but can someone please give me some directions or lead me to the right thread/post on how to modify an image so it works on an 06 TL navi screen? I wanna customize a picture for my girlfriend's navi as part of our anniversary surprise. Thanks in advance guys.
I just wanted to add something to this forum, although I am not sure how important it is. I have a 2006 that is using the 4.56c dvd (one used for hawaii, so yes 06 owners can have functional navi on the island.) I was able to Change the splash screen with very little difficulties. The only issue is that you have to make 3 seperate files in 3 seperate sizes. If you google 07Touch2.bin then click on the ridgeline forum that comes up there are very good directions on the sizes that are needed for each pic as well as the info for burning and updating the system. The main thing is the commands when using the extractor program are case sensitive. Looking forward to the nag removal.
I've the OK bypass on my 05 TSX. I've it working on version 3.60, but decided to go back to the factory one. The reason? I don't like having the map on all the time while driving. With the OK bypass I would have to manually turn the screen off because it doesn't shut itself once you passed the OK screen.
I've just posted another thread with the patch file to do this conversion. This is for version 3.60 orange DVD only. https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...530#post743530

Hey I am willing to walk you through the process if you would like in order to get your navi tweaked. Just let me know.
I have tried reading through this thread but have gotten lost - is there a way to get the nag removed for 2008 nav models? I see working instructions for the older units, but I haven't seen anything for the newer ones.
Is somebody working on this? Or is it impossible because of some new architecture?

it's the same situation for '07 and '08 TSX's...let us know if anyone tries this and gets it to look seamless
I guess that depends on how you look at the issue.
One view might be that it is more work to deal with three images.
Another view might look at it as more flexible: a custom emblem, a custom title, and a custom background/main image.
There are three images that form the splash screen.
OpeningBase.bmp is 480 x 234 pixels.
It appears on the screen at coords: X:0,Y:0
This is the background or main image.
Honda_emblem.bmp is 96 x 68 pixels.
It appears on the screen at coords: X:192,Y:36
Navi_Title.bmp is 290 x 16 pixels
It appears on the screen at coords: X:95,Y:137
With a little effort (in PhotoShop perhaps) you could build your own composite image that when combined appeared not to have an emblem or a title. Cut out the pieces of a full image and place them in the parts so they fit seamlessly. Sort of like a puzzle without a visible border for each piece.
Another possibility is to modify the registry and change the coordinates of the emblem and the title. This requires more work. I have successfully rebuilt the registry with several other mods but have not burned a new Nav disc with it yet.
Personally, I think three images is not limiting, but is more flexible - allowing for greater creativity.

Success!
I've been able to swap the splash screen on my '08 TSX. It takes a bit more work to get around the 3 image construction (OpeningBase.bmp + Navi_Title.bmp + Acura_emblem.bmp), but it's easy enough for most novices. This will apply for most (I know TL is one exception) Honda/Acura navigation systems from '07 and later.
It's late at the moment, I'll update with pictures and a tutorial when I get a chance this week.
