RL Section Ramblings

I thought it would be cool to have a thread in the RL section where you could just ask random questions, to do with the car or not w/out starting a thread about it.

My question is...do we have a low fuel warning light?!

Washed the RL last night, finally we have some 35 degree+ sunny weather for a few days. I think I forgot it was black.

yes we do. Only comes on for me when the needle is right on E.

even then you still have like 4-5 gallons left.

Next question......Can you make me a bolt on supercharger kit for the RL?

Anything can be done with the right amount of $$$.

My question is... WHY CAN'T I SCORE SUSPENSION FOR THIS BOAT??!! All I want to do is bring her closer to the ground.

Vas, you know it's bad when you can't tell a black car is black. I too washed my car after 3 months of steady rain and road filth. Hard to fathom this car has pearl in it unless she's washed and shined up proper.

You can get suspension mods. Its just gonna cost you........lots. lol

I think I spent around 650-700 total to lower mine. Oh and beleive me I know how much is going to cost. I figure a custom supercharger kit including exhaust and possibly headers is going to be in the 7000 dollar area.

Oh and theres alot of Blue pearl in the NBP.

I am sure you can connect it, but it won't be through a USB interface, so you'll still have to mess around with track changes on the i-Pod itself.

Flamenco or Granada Pearl (both Acura colors) were a much deeper and more expensive black.

Flamenco had blue and red specks, Granada had goldish specks.

Thanks much just called Crutchfield i will have to install an ipod controller which will also show the songs on the Screen. It's a USA Spec iPod® Interface

Connects your iPod to select 2007-up Acura factory radios with navigation and Live Traffic.

Granada black pearl has been used since the old Hondas. A friend has an 89 Accord coupe and the pearl looks so neat in it.

A VIP buddy told me... You gotsta pay to play. I'm ready for the bill on the drop, I just want the parts. Send me a link on where to buys some parts (and where you got your lip kit from) and I'm all over it like a fat kid to cake.
Oh, and that blue sure is purdy. You polished her niiiiiiicely. I'll have to post pics of mine STAT.

I've had it on E and it doesn't come on. Made me kind of nervous.

Mine comes on just shy of the E. I've tested it and ran it till empty just so I can estimate how many miles I have until I'm stranded.
It's a stupid thing, but I do it with all my cars. There's nothing like knowing your cars limits.

i wish the front mud flaps weren't so low. with passengers, going over a speed bump would scrap it every time.

I'd put in just over 14 gallons. Maybe I'm not pushing her hard enough but eh...whatever I guess.

most of the time, when the low fuel light comes on, i go to the pump and would only get 14+ gallons in there. we have a 18 gallon tank so i personally think the warning is way too early. one day i decided to test it out and see how far i can get when the warning comes on. i got 17.3 gallons and that was with loosing power and sputtering when turning, leaning too much on one side, and stop and go traffic. so now if that ever that happens again when i'm running low on gas, i know i have about 1 gallon left.

It was finally sunny and in the 40's this weekend. I got a chance to wash/wax the RL and started messing around with some HDR programs. Here's a small preview.

This was actually before the waxing I didn't take too many pics after I cleaned it. It needs more than just a wax, but some of the color definitely came back, I don't think the previous owner actually ever detailed it.

P.S. I forgot what a pain it is to have a black car.
Here's a cell shot

My maintenance required light came on this morning so I did some searching on how to get rid of it. I know when I need an oil change.

You guys know what cycle it's on? 3750 or 5K? It's been about 2700 miles since my last oil change and the light is on already, I'm assuming it's on a 5K interval.

Anyway - here are some directions on how to reset the light if anyone needs it

- Turn ignition to (II) (dont start the car)
- Set trip to (Trip A) or (Trip B) *will not work if outside temp is displayed
- HOLD SELECT and RESET at same time for more than 10 sec
- Turn car off

Looks good. 1st gen RL's have those sort of classy look compared to the newer cars.

I think your supposed to hold select/reset then turn ignition on until you hear a beep, no? I think its like 5k mine hasnt turned on in a while.

To reset maint req. light--

-Key out, press and hold trip selector for 10 sec.
-Hold the knob pressed, put the key in and turn to position II or when dash lights come on (don't start the car)
-Hold the knob until light turns off..

You have to hold down BOTH buttons and wait for the beep.

What would you say was your average speed?

My problem is keeping it at 55-60 which I think would be ideal. Damn traffic is always going 75-80.

I was doing 72.

Oregon speed limits on I-5 are usually 60 or 65. Lots of police lately in an attempt to squeeze more tax dollars out of people.

As long as they don't start charging sales tax

I was out in Oregon last year, went from Portland to COOS BAY and back to Portland. Visited most Oregon Honda dealerships.

for those with a '04 RL, does your center armrest open from the driver's side instead of just up? also, is the height adjustable? does anyone know if it'll fit an '02? my '02 only opens up and that sometimes bothers me because all my coins or whatever that is small would slide out the back.
