Plus Turkey is right on the border to Syria.. did you watch the video of the pilots being shot at by IS? It's not like they were line stepping just to show power. They were trying to fuck their shit up. Turkey should have given them a pass on that one.

Also, how many civilian casualties? U.S. should be held accountable for that shit too - but if we're not, imagine what level of scrutiny Russia will get; fucking none whatsoever.
The whole thing was already a clusterfuck before the Turks fucked shit up even worse than it already was. As if there wasn't already enough NATO/Russia tension.

CC just rolled out this year. I've barely been in the state. State police been overloaded with applications. A couple of my USMC buddies invited me to take the required class but I was out of town.
I'd probably be more proactive about it if I knew what the fuck kind of pistol I wanted.

22 for fun plinking? Ruger 22/45.
Carry? That's an asshole/opinion answer... Everybody has their own that they'll try to force on you ( :giggity: ). I generally think no smaller than 9mm although a .380 has its place. Glock is Glock. Simple, robust, and goes bang every time. There's a reason it's highly recommended.
Best bet is to find a range that will rent you many types to try. Or friends with different ones to play with.
Glocks tend to be a bit "brickish" to carry though. May not be the most comfortable.

I always start new shooters on a G19. Personally, I don't like glocks. Known for their reliability, they don't always go bang when you pull the trigger. Not an issue with all the models, but some of them are definitely not as reliable as others. I generally don't like striker fire pistols. I love CZs (czcks), it's a running joke among azine gun enthusiasts.
I also don't like micro/sub compact form pistols for the most part. I've fired the most popular ones and they're okay, but it's a compromise of form over function, what's the point?! The one subcompact pistol I didn't mind too much was the M&P Shield, especially with the extendo mag (gives you another inch of grip purchase). It's a little tight, but otherwise functions pretty well in that form.
The inbetweeners are the sweet spot. CZ 75 and all the variants (originally browning), are fantastic fucking shooters. Some of them can be had for 3 bills, even in compact form. One of which is in my arsenal, the canik 55 stingray-c (turkish dis dik). The CZ P07 as well as the P1 and 75 Compact are fucking nail drivers, all share similar form, with varying options. The frames are different, but the weight balance feels about the same, not a big difference in my book. Of course the full frame 75 variants are tits.. like the 75 SP-01. shiet.
Anyways, fuck that shit, I carry (truck gun) a mini draco, git sum.

Oh, regarding caliber.. 380 38SP 9MM 40SW 45ACP 44MAG, they're all going to fuck you up. They all have varying ballistic characteristics. It doesn't really matter. What matters is you hit your target with accuracy and ease. Shoot all and find the most comfortable shooter for you. In 45, try a 1911 first, then something double stacked like an FN45/HK45/97BD. Of course, CZ 75 in 9 (40 even), shoot a smitty 357 and 44. Then consider rounds you have at your disposal (mag capacity), and then cost per round. You're more likely to shoot 100,000 rounds at a target before you shoot 1 round a person. So $/rd is important. A 22 for plinking is okay, but I wouldn't pack a 22 for HD or carry unless you're going for a mag dump. Don't get me wrong, a 22 is plenty deadly, but to stop a person, you better hit something vital.
