Thanks Casper.

i'm gonna be installing them on my Aunt's car in CA next time I'm out there, so it would be nice if the harness doesn't melt seeing as how i can't get right back out there to fix them.

do you know the stock wattage #s?

oops... thanks bluesman, almost forgot...

for most of you that have been around for quite some time, we did a track night / dyno day a while back and we all had a blast...

DNE is doing it again!

The track opens up feb 20th (Fast Friday) and we'll be heading out for all kinds of trash talking and fun. The following day, Forced Performance in Mckinney will be hosting a dyno day for us at $40 for 3 pulls ($60 for 3 pulls if you want wideband). they have a BBQ grill and they don't mind if you bring some alcohol as long as the drinkers are of age and no one acts like a "jackass" (their words haha).

It should be a blast!

just forgot to mention it to you guys... our members don't know the exact details, and we really don't either, but we're gettin them together...

Bluesman, fyi, my strut was mailed yesterday. should be here by Friday.

if i were you i would find either someone you know or a local repairshop, there will not be much they can tell though , you might want to see how much maintenance documentation was with it , try and find out if belts, water pump, tires, clutch/rebuilt transmission, also get CARFAX for vehicle history report to see if it has been wrecked good luck!

do i need an alignment after getting new tires?

i've been noticing some steering wheel shake at about 60 mph. I don't notice it any other time, and it's when i'm cruising, not braking. Do i need an alignment, or are my tires a little off balance?

when you had the tires mounted, I hope they also balanced them.

an alignment definetly wouldn't hurt. the last thing you want to have is uneven tire wear.

so in short, assuming you had the tires balanced at time of mounting, go ahead and get an alignment.

Wow, finally someone who is less than 80 miles from me. I am in Shreveport, La, and seems all the members from La are Baton rouge/new orleans area, or Tx from DFW to south Tx.

yeah, they balanced them. I watched them do everything, they threw all 4 on that machine with the cover that rotates them... whatever it is, i know it balances them.

I called this evening and they said just bring it in and they'll rebalance them. That's free, so i'm gonna give that a shot b4 the alignment.

I would go have the alignment checked first. if the alignment is in I would take it back to the tire place and have them replace the tires(depending on how far you have driven) and how much they are out of balance.

Have them let you stand next to the balancer and have them spun and see how much they are out. it should show in increments of .25. being brand new they should all show 0.00 and 0.00

And have them balanced correctly.

I worked in a tire shop for a little while. doesn't sound like an alignment problem unless it was like that before the tire replacement,

I didn't think so, because everything was fine until I got the new tires. I just started noticing it this week.

well it was the balance. I got my front tires rebalanced and it took care of the problem. Apparently they were only 'static' balanced, they didn't have those stick on weights on the inside lip of the wheel.

so the guy rebalancing my wheels was pretty cool, and he was kinda showing me how they do it. When he finished the first one, he rolled it over and told this other guy to put it on my car, he just left it standing there for a minute waiting for the other guy to stop sweeping and grab it. So i started rolling it to my car, the guy's like "oh, don't worry man, we got it". I said "I just don't want it to fall face down, these wheels scratch really easily". So the other guy stops sweeping and comes to grab it, then he rolls it over to the other side of my car. I start to walk back when BAM! I quickly walk around my car to see the wheel laying face down on the ground. As soon as i picked it up i noticed big scuff marks on every one of those corners where the spoke juts out. Obviously from the fall, they weren't long scratches like from rotation against something.

So I start swearing and stuff and saying "this is what I was talking about. See how these spokes stick out from the tire." So he goes over and explains what happened to the nice guy doing the balancing. Then when I went over to talk to him he goes "sounds like you need a new wheel. We'll go inside and take care of it."

So he's ordering me a new wheel. They were actually nice about the whole thing, didn't really try to get out of it at all. But what sucks is now i have to go back for a 3rd time to get my new wheel put on, when i should have only had to be there once. So i'm gonna use that and try to get my old wheel from for a full size spare.

hopefully, if i get to keep the messed up one.

Of course though, it couldn't have been the wheel that i really messed up in that blow out a while back. It had to be one that was in relatively good shape.
