Ok. Found out he has a CCM sticker & a TX Swag one as well on the back.

Did a quick midnight cruise with him & another friend around some twisties. Very quick Lexus.

On the subject of brakes, might need to either upgrade or hold back after last night. Couple times felt like I wasn't going to stop & had the tail starting to let itself go through 1 turn. Got home & could feel the heat still coming off the brakes.

Car still handles pretty damn well for a 4-door.

My recommendation get the racing brake rotors if you can afford them and whatever pad you prefer. Its a heavy car so your brakes are gonna get hot. The Slotted rotors do help quite a bit IMO when I took the car to lime creek for a trial run. I also had the big ass 19s on there which did not help much but I did not feel fade or anything. Dont get me wrong the stock brembo rotors are great but after constant use during high speed they start fading just a bit.

I wanna get new rotors as well. But A-Spec is first. If I can dish out some $$$ then hopefully I can get it from the new Acura dealer on here. I need about 650 bucks

Will do. What's this red stuff Ethan has referred to? Seems pretty good if you & him speak highly of it.

They are brake pads. It is made by a company called EBC. The certain pads are just called red stuff. I didn't know what they were til Ethan told me about them on our BJ's meet. I then won't home, and did what I do best-research. I spent an hour looking at reviews, tests, and a bunch of other stuff, to find out these are basically the best performance pads for mid price range.

Rick......not to challenge Nelson but I would not do the Racing Brakes.

They're hella expensive and you get the same rotors with Rotora.

I stand by red stuff pads because Ive had them forever. Its all how you bed them in.

People complain that they tear up their rotors. This is due to improper bedding procedures. Red Stufs have a bed in material already on them. So basically you just do regular driving for a while so the pads will wear the rotors on their own.

They also have a direct OEM replacement pad called Ultimax....

I would never recommend anything I havent used myself.....my thought is if it works and you like it, stick with it.

Interesting. I assume the difference between the colors is the durability of the brakes, right?

exactly....green for everyday driving.....red is full ceramic, more spirited I assume

Yellow is for racing....if I remember correctly.

just to give you an idea.....I got rotora drilled slotted rotors and red stuff pads all around for less then one set of Racing Brake rotors

Are EBC rotors good? Like if you ran EBC Redstuff Pads with their EBC Slotted Rotors...would that be a good setup?

NAiL, I didn't see you out there man! Saw Brian though, but he left before I could say hi.

And apparently, last week, my buddy got beat by a Mazda 3 & wanted me to avenge him. But, when the Mazda "boy" saw my car, he said fuck that, I don't wanna lose.

Next week, though, should be fun in Mexico.

Nah I didn't go out. I was installing suspension in an IS300 so I got carried away then we started playing Wii lol.

I understand the RB is expensive ethan but I like the rotor design. Pad choice is up to the user. I like the RB two piece design compared to the single (I do not remember what rotora is) but the two piece design doesn't let the brake rotor warp under continous hard speed braking unlike the single design. Plus if the face goes out the replacement for it is not that much instead of having to buy a complete new rotor.

Pad wise EBC's have been known to be an aggressive pad...The yellow stuff will work REALLY well. They eat rotors for breakfast under constant use. The Red stuffs should be sufficient for just driving around. Green stuffs are the base and are fine for just some spirited driving.

But I understand what you are talking about with the Rotoras being cheaper but IMO the stock brembo's aren't too bad. I like them as is and I do not see me upgrading to another bbk...If I did I would go the all around route. If I do one side I throw off the balance and thats never too fun just my opinion. But the rb is the same rotor size with a slotted rotor and whatever pad compound. Also dust = good. That means yo shit is working right. A lot of people don't like dusting but if you want a good pad (stock brembo or equivalent) they will dust.

Those are just my opinions.

Rotoras have been in the business for a while now.

I dont see a need for a two piece rotor. Plus Yellow stuffs are racing pads.

Red Stuffs, I have now and always had. So yeah, they're more then suffcient for just driving around. Best thing about them, you can hit the twisties and now worry about brake fade too much. Unless you boil your fluid.

Dust = good? I dont know about that....

Well not all the time but a proper working pad. Brembo is one of the examples but it wears out so fast. My buddies stoptechs dust like a mofo also but damn do they stop the car on a dime unless he locks up lol. But for most street driving yes it is not necessary but I do cruises most of the time with other people when the season comes so I use them enough to where they have paid themselves off for me IMO. Those are just my opinions. Overall I think if Rick goes with a good rotor he should be fine. Sounds like the rotor could not get rid of heat fast enough slowly causing it to fade on him. A slotted design should be enough for your street/weekend adventures. IMO slotted/drilled is overkill unless you like aesthetics or you really are stopping from 140+ all the time.

I bought f/r drilled and slotted rotors from irotors and paired them with hawk ceramic pads. I've had them for over a year now and i couldn't be happier with the performance. HUGE improvement from stock, still performs like they were just installed and you can't beat price!

I know a lot of people speak highly of rotora's and im sure they are great, but if your budget consious, check out the irotors. I've been very happy with them!

I couldnt agree more with you here Nelson....in fact, I was going to get just slotted but Josh threw me a great deal on Drilled Slotted....so I just went for it more for the cosmetic appeal then anything

Yes, it is.

On that topic of March 20th, I should be able to make it right on time at 7:30. Getting a group of friends to finally hit up Speedzone on that date & won't be too far out.

You know, I am seriously glad people like Ethan actually care. Maybe it's the maturity or something, but my friends tend to act like I'm fucking stupid when they try to avoid telling me they don't want to talk. And they wonder why they get so pissy when I don't talk to them for months at a time, acting like they're actually interested in my life.[/rant]

And damn the 5 minute edit....

Yep. Ethan is setting kids straight nowadays...Last thing we need is a soulja boy or some gangsta wannabe thug. IMO thats a good friend...To be honest I hate ghetto people they piss me off...makes you sound like you have no education. Another thing I love to watch which seems to be a popular trend...Suburban kids acting like they from da hood...Bitch you got a good life to start with...why you fuckin it up for yourself...but thats my rant.

Anyway meet some time this week for a small while? Weather is great I might wash the car up.

Lol. Fisrt of all greetings from Canada everyone. Second of all, I am not stupid (although nobody said anything of that sort) the reason I got my TL is for being an all honor student. But everyone has slip-up's. Most of time I type with proper grammar and spell all my words. But thanks for caring Ethan!
