Hey guys, I thought I might try the chat thread for a more immediate response:
I have a 2006 Acura TL Automatic with the same symptoms as described in the below thread. While I think it may be the same issue (pressure switches) I don't want to speculate.
Thread: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/acura-transmission-problems-808475/
Can anyone recommend a good transmission shop in the DFW area that won't charge an arm and a leg? If the transmission needs to be replaced that is fine, just want to get it diagnosed properly and go from there. I know the dealer charges somewhere in the range of 4-5k for transmission replacement. I thought I'd give it a shot to find another indy shop here.
Thanks

Well check with acura first...they had an extended drivetrain warranty on auto trans for the older v6 cars. I would check before spending the money on them...Hell you might get a free trans out of it.

I would go ahead and replace your pressure switches first and do a flush and see if you can get her going for a while. Im a mechanic and can do them if you need help. Also I have a guy I work with that used to work for acura. Im sure he could get you a good rate on replacing if needed and i would order one online for cheaper. I wouldnt take it somewhere unless they put an oem one back in. Transmissions are not something you mess with aftermarket crap unless your building it up with performance parts. Tranny shops are CRAP! Ive had many many customers have us re-build their trannies or put a new one in because a crap shop screwed it up. Do it right the first time. Just do your switched and a drain/refill. What exactly is it doing? That thread is all rambling
It reminds me of the time the transmission in my 2nd gen CL went out. Except no CEL or anything like that. Plus the issue goes away when the car is freshly started.
Where is your shop located btw? I'd like to try having you replace the switches and doing a drain/refill.

Thanks for the quick response. So basically, when we start the car, it goes into Drive, Neutral, Reverse, etc fine. It will drive fine for about 10 minutes until it gets warmed up then it starts mis-shifting. For example, you will start off from a red light and the gear will not engage, the RPMs just go up. Eventually it might catch, but usually it won't. So then you have to turn off the car, turn it back on and it will usually let you get into 1st and 2nd gears.

Nevermind, I couldnt remember if that was you that did ther JnR Turbo setup but it was. I gotta see this thing! Im thinking about building a custom turbo setup for ALOT cheaper than the JnR with better turbo, wastegate, intercooler and all, there will be alot of fabricating but for the price of 7k with a flashpro. YIKES! I can build a nice setup for less than 2k with better parts! http://98.158.194.157/forums/showthread.php?t=849924

SO for this honda fetish deal...should we meet up before and roll in? That would guarantee us all parking together...I will need to get a spare plate since I do not want people taking pictures of that. Do they make acurazine license plates?

Well they are judging in different categories so I figure they will have us park together. We can meet up tho if u want. Im not really going to expect anything as far as competition. None of our cars are THAT nice like some ive seen that are going. As for plates... I can maybe make some
