No problem! Next week sounds fine to me, but if you end up being busy next week than it's no biggie.... I just don't have a jack to lift my car because it's lowered. It's not lowered much by any means maybe 2 inches or so, but it's enough for my jack to not fit under my car.

I used a friends jack to lift my car once, but his jack didn't even go high enough to be able to place jack stands under my car. Getting my car lifted is a real PITA for me. Plus I tend to prefer wrenching on the car when I have another pair of hands around to help, seems funner that way lol.

I do have a XLR8 v1 J-Pipe that I installed with me and a friend.... it was pretty straight forward but some of the bolts were a PITA to reach due to the thickness of the socket contacting the side of the J-Pipe making it hard to be able to tighten a bolt correctly... But after many tries, finally eventually got it.

Also, do you have a J-Pipe on your car? If so, what brand?

Pre-Purchase inspection 2006 TL

Hello All,

I am planning on purchasing a 2006 TL from a private party in Plano, TX. Does anyone know of any reputable shops in the area that could perform one? I've looked to David McDavid and Autoscope, but as I am from AZ I am not sure how reliable they are. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Autoscope is very reputable but they deal with European cars, mainly high-end European cars so I don't know if they could even do an inspection for you. I have never been to McDavid Acura but I know Goodson in Dallas is good.

Don't worry, several members here are from Plano and I'm sure they can recommend a good place near you.

I bought mine new from David McDavid in Plano about 8 months ago. This is the first car I've bought by myself and they made it relatively pain free. They ended up working with me on the price for a day or two over the phone and I got a fair price on it + trade in. I bought it from a guy who was fairly young and was a decent guy.

I got PCDs installed in my car. Took me two days to install them the first time around, lol. When I had them replaced with Richie's newer version took me 4hrs max. If Ethan can't help you lemme know, I can give you a hand. Of course, it would be a lot easier if you had a lift, but a jack will do just fine. The only thing that consumes your time, is the rear PCD bc its a pain to pull out, & having to keep lifting the jack up & down to get underneath the car. Yeah but lemme know, I can give you and Ethan a hand or some information on DIY.

I recently bought these items from a local member who said he would also help me install them but once I purchased them he flaked out on the "helping me install them" at the last minute while I was driving to his place to buy it off him.

I can't really get mad or anything because helping me install it wasn't part of the price, but it would have been nice if he would have stayed true to his word instead of giving me the run around. He told me he would help me another day but I've been texting him, called him, sending him PM's, left a visitor message on his profile and no reply. I know he sees it because it shows him online. Oh well...

I know you guys are busy and what not, but if any of you have the experience (and the proper equipment) to install these items, would you be so kind to help me out? I will drive to you. I will also be willing to pay $$ for your help

Would love to hear that exhaust. Definitely one of the rarer & well-liked ones on the forums.

Hey trance, i'm gonna hold off on installing the J-Pipe and PCD for now. My car needs new upper control arms and lower ball joints for both sides because I was told there is some "play" on both sides. Also my front passenger side upper ball joint boot is torn and is leaking.

I'll wait until after I get my upper control arms and lower ball joints installed before I do any power modifications. I'll let you know in advance when I'm ready!

Well, no TX2K for my group this year, so the thread is closed. So, anyone wanting to go or meet the Houston guys will have to organize something with them. Means I'll be spending the b-day in town this year.

Nice cars, good platform to run some moderate power through. I'm interested in knowing how their maintenance is handled by GM though seeing as Pontiac has been gone for over a year now.

Still an LS series motor so chevy should be able to service it. Plus parts should be pretty cheap and parts easy to find.

That was probably me...I was trying to get back to work in time. I wasnt really paying attention to anything lol

Just read up and apparently all you do is take it to any GM dealer, probably the closest GMC or Chevy would be best. Sounds reasonable to me.

I view it this way: 6.0L v8, leather, heated seats, nav screen, aux port, and looks decent along with a wide range of parts all under 26k

Should have come out tonight NAiL. Will had the GT-R out there & shared some great stories. He told us he's not doing any Mexico runs at TX2K though & is shooting for 170Mph+ trap speeds.

And that UGR is bringing out a 1958Whp Gallardo Nera.

Newb

Hello I am new to both the forums and Acura itself. After having a 97 Saturn SC1 for 14 years it finally died on me and I needed a newer car. My wife insisted that since my car was a two door and we now have a grand kids that I needed a four door car. A family car was the way she put it actually. Two door cars are not family cars. After searching for weeks I finally had a small list of cars which included an Acura TL. I Purchased it yesterday.

It is an 05 3.2 with bairly 100K on it. My thing is that this is the nicest car I have ever owned. Anyways buying it used I figured it best to ask what issues to look out for. I did research before buying and know the 04 model had motor mount issues but the 05 nothing was reported as an issue. Anything within the entire line I should have checked out. Could also use a great Acura shop if you guys know in the Fort Worth. If not then I can drive to Dallas no problem.

I want to do some minor customization on the lighting. Mainly like the blue door sills and looking for a way to do the Interior Illumination like Honda offers. I haven't seen many people with custom paint. I was considering a blue wave or something.

or maybe

If you guys know anything that does this kind of thing and a ball park price.

Welcome to the Acura group. The DFW group is a bunch of solid guys. In FW, aside from the stealerships, http://www.dannysimport.com/ is a good shop.

Hey Rick do you know of any good (and free) programs for photo editing such as cropping, contrast, doing black and white, etc? Nothing too complicated, just basic stuff.

Well after reading more on here I found out what I feared is true. So my car was one where the owner did not want to pay for the 100K matenance and traded it in. I talked to the dealership that my carfax stated was the main maintenance place and the varified it never had that done. I asked themt he price on it and it was $985. The main thing they said to worry about is the timing belt, plugs and valve adjustment. I have seen where other states and areas had a timing belt special of $389 or so. Do anyone know a local place with a simular price?
