Apple iPhone 4 pre-orders now sold out?

We have no idea how this happened given the insane problems Apple and AT&T have had processing iPhone 4 pre-orders today, but lots of people (including us) are seeing a July 2 ship date at Apple's online store, or about a week after the next-gen iPhone launches on June 24. Frankly, that's amazing -- we can only imagine the kind of sustained rush it took to cause a sellout of a product virtually no one was actually able to order. So that's Apple and AT&T both sold out -- at this point it's looking like standing in line somewhere come launch day is going to be your best bet, but we'll let you know if we hear any better news.

This is complete horseshit.
The system has been fucked all day...yet all the pre-orders magically sell out....And the actual stores cut off their pre-orders at 4:30 today.

I've done that before...the next day I got an email from someone at apple with a fedex number and note saying I was being sent a whole Final Cut Studio with the Universal update.

I read a similar story where a high school students wanted to buy FCP with a student discount cause he wasn't in college yet so he emailed steve for an exception and steve sent it to him for free.

Pros for iPhone:
- Web browser. By miles
- "Just Works" with my MacBook Pro (seriously, BlackBerry + Mac is not meant to be)
- Netflix. Talk about a freaking cool feature.
- Could use LogMeIn to manage PCs.
Pros for BlackBerry
- Keyboard. Duh.
- True multitasking... this is the biggest thing holding me back from getting an iPhone.

I only paid $6 tax for my 3GS through Apple since I got it for $97. That doesn't make sense paying the $500 tax rate. I think that's a glitch.
Those on the fence waiting to get a 4 or an Android, the HTC Aria is coming out for $130 on ATT. Engadget has one and will write a review soon.
